best and worst actors on show

as far as pure acting talent, you do you all see as the best and worst actors on the show? (conforming their character to the book is not really necessary, as they have different scripts etc to work with)

for me it goes

best

1.- tied, tyrion/jaime

2. tywin

3. joffery

edit: i dont know how the hell i forgot ned...prob. the best cast character on the show..i'd stick him around here as the guys above have truly made the characters their own...and are not dead yet!

4. varys

5. queen of thorns

6. theon

7. ramsay

worst

1. jon

2. mance

3. daario

i dont know if dany is 4- shes gorgeous and i love the character, but she could do a little better...overall amazing cast though (i love how true blood comes on right after as its summer replacement, a show which probably has some of the worst acting i have ever seen...ever)

I sadly don't care about the show Arya, while the book version is my fav character. The casting was completely wrong for that part.

^ I agree about Shae. Horrible. Stick with the mattress acting.

I also wasn't a fan of Kit in first 2 seasons, but in s3 he upped his acting game to tolerable.

Sad that my fav two characters got horribly cast.

Love Conleth (Varys), Dance (Tywin), Nicolai (Jaime), Dinklage (Tyrion), Richard Madden (Robb), Michelle (Cat)

The rest are ranging from average to bad.

^ With all due respect to Maisie, the only part I can see her playing is some smallfolk child. There is no hidden beauty of Lyanna Stark in her. Short, stocked, roundfaced and homely is how I'd describe her. And her acting is nothing special or exciting. Similar thing with the Bran actor. What they got right was the casting of Robb, Sansa and the Rickon child.

Virtually the entire world would disagree with you. Also saying "With all due respect" before giving someone no respect doesn't make anything better. Maisie has a certain beauty to her, although definitely not a true, traditional beauty like Sophie Turner. But no one has ever said "Arya is as beautiful as Lyanna was," they just explain that there is a resemblance. Also Arya, when first cast, was skinnier and longer of face. You can't predict exactly how someone's going to look when they go through puberty.

Rickon has like fucking 3 lines .

Those 3 lines had me in tears more than the red wedding scene. His expressions and the way he delivered the dialogue was moving...very nice original scene.

I was very reticent about Rickon before that scene. He does do a great job and surprised us all. But it's ultimately so minor compared to what Arya's had to do that I thought it a bit unfair to even compare.

Arya's "No. Any man can be killed" her training with Syrio, her shanking of the Frey dickhead, her exchanges with Ja'qen (Particularly when she names him as her number three) were all masterful. I wouldn't even entertain the possibility of having someone other than Maisie play Arya if I could turn back the clocks. She, Sean Bean, Dinklage, Dance, Richard Madden, Alfie Allen, Jack Gleeson, Conleth Hill and Iain Glenn are the only actors I would never think of replacing. Possibly Sophie Turner too since I think her main weaknesses have been in the writing.

By the way, I'd like to remind everyone that this thread is about best and worst ACTORS, not casting choices as they relate to the source material. There's already another thread for that. The OP clearly states its about pure acting talent.

Personally on raw talent I think the guy who plays Stannis is the best along with Dance. Alfie is really talented too. Bean and King Roberts actors were both really impressive too. Among the women I think Fairley is the most talented with headey not too far behind.

I forgot about Dillane. He's really great too, and for that matter so is Liam Cunningham. Both are very talented actors. Honestly there's too many to even list them all lol.

For me, the best is Charles Dance as Tywin, he's just added a whole other dimension to the character, he really has been fantastic.

The worst, by far, is Aidan Gillen as Littlefinger, it is probably just me, but I really hate the way he acts (Just in this show, not overall) every time he comes on the screen I cringe!

Its that bloody voice of his....I'm pretty sure the show directors/writers told him to do that...so TV viewers can know he is a schemer and evil. His voice was pretty good in The Dark Knight Rises imo..

Best:

Maisie is perfect for Arya. Her acting is phenomenal, and she's exactly what I pictured.

Charles Dance needs every award- an amazing Tywin.

Dillane and Cunningham are wonderful, as well- they got the chemistry spot on.

Alfie Allen deserves a mention, too- I was hesitant when I heard he was playing Theon, but my god, did he live up to the role.

Michelle Fairley, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington also need some kudos. Emilia and Kit have definitely grown as actors.

Not the best:

Mance. Not right for the role!

That kid that Arya stabbed in the first series. "Come here, wolf girl." Cringe.

There's a difference between who is a bad actor and who hasn't been cast right, though.

Actors I liked (trying to go with some not yet mentioned here):

I'm kinda suprised Iain Glenn hasn't been mentioned yet.

I personally loved Cosmos and Bradley as well, same goes for Rose Leslie. Might be cause they all had screentime with kit.

Kerry Ingram did a wonderfull job as well.

I didn't like:

Loras. Seriously, that scene on the fountain in s3 was terrible. Even Sophie Turner couldn't fix it, even though I usually like her very much.

And I have to mention Shae as well, but maybe that's also cause how they made her a whiny stupid b*tch on the show.

EDit: How could I forget the Roose and the Ramsey. Both awesome, and Rheon made every Theon scene worth watching.

Let me break a lance for Shae... she's is a tremendous actress and not on the porn scene. Sibel Kekilli's been portraying quite a rebel, unfortunate Turkish girl in one of the most acclaimed German film "Gegen die Wand" (Head-on in English) and she was fantastic, check it out. English is not her language, her tone's quite emotionless.

A completely different affair when she speaks her native German language.

Shae is not her role either. Give her some rebel, nonconformist woman to play and see what happens.

I agree on Loras, he's painful to watch with Sansa, but perhaps he's supposed to feel awkward with women.

Kit Harington makes a bit too vulnerable Jon Snow, with his tormented expression. I imagined Jon being more cold, someone you'd never guess what he's up to.

Roose Bolton is a bit too homely for my taste. Gary Oldman would have been perfect for the role.

I totally agree on the best actors, even though Cat is a bit too old, she should be a woman of 33/35, same age of Cercei.

A lot of people are not into the littlefinger actor...personally I really think the cheesy, slimy almost bond villain caricature-esque job the actor does... as it fits the character perfectly...he is one of my favorite characters in the show and in the books...his lack of authenticity and his "fake" personality when he tries to talk down to most characters and portray himself as a much weaker, less dangerous person than we all know he really is embodies lord baelish perfectly...the scenes with him and varys are pure gold (although I will admit varys is the better actor)
