GOODKIND IV

Thanks for the clarification. In other words, anyone is welcome to debate over on your board, as long as they're sure to remove any point of contention from their posts. That makes alot of sense.

Not at all. We simply require respectful opinion and not barbed contentious posts. If you are capable that is.... ;)

But I suspect you do not wish a proper non-contentious debate, or you would have presented in more of a professional manor, more becoming of a serious inquisitor.

If you had used something other than abrasive and wording that is a blatant attempt at evoking an attack I would have allowed it. But you seem incapable of posting in such a manor... oh your prose seems to be lacking of maturity and professionalism. Perhaps you should sleep on it and try again....

We would welcome such a post, but only if you can place it with out the contentious note... You missed the responses to it as well...

You are, as I said, welcome to rephrase it, and it will stand...

See, we would also welcome such a post from you. As has been said, we are a diverse group of people with a wide variety of tastes, and, as fun as folks like diabloblanco and brendan moody are, a real goodkind fan who would actually like to debate the books is hardly something we would object to.

It should be noted, however, that claiming that we are all missing the deeper meaning behind Goodkind's story is just silly. To be frank, no one here misses the point. Goodkind's work is about as subtle and nuanced as a sledgehammer to the groin; rather, it's the most transparently didactic work of fiction I've ever come across. The fact that many of us disagree with either the point itself or the way TG presents it (see TerraPrime's post earlier on in this(?) thread) does not make us blind to the point he is making. If you want to defend those points or the way TG writes, then do it. You say Zadok was abrasive in his posting at your site, but that's exactly what you have been in each one of your posts, and then you can't understand why people would mock you.

I'm not going to lie to you, if you choose to debate the points with us here, then you will come up against some pretty strong opposition, but, at least people will take you seriously. As it is now, you're a joke across 3 or 4 forums, and if the crapauthors.com link was any indication, the joke is spreading.

ETA:

Not at all. We simply require respectful opinion and not barbed contentious posts. If you are capable that is....

See, look how nice we are. You have been completely disrespectful and all of your posts are contentious and superior, but we still talk to you...

No, it's a piss-take. Or it started as a piss-take. Except now, as I understand it, there are real fans on there who think it's real, and other people who hate the books who get into rabid arguments with people who also hate the books but pretend to love them for comic effect. It's very post-modern. Or something.

Ok. Thank you very much. I feel extremely relieved that there were not in fact people who didn't think the phrase "We Love How Goodkind Touches Us" was hilarious.

When I first came across GioG, I thought it was genuine fanforum...

Hmm. Michael Focault. Wasn't he the one who said, "the author is dead" or something to that effect?

As for the rest of it, I simply took my time and chose my words rather than the usual. I simply refuse to waste my time of any of your other nonsense.

I wish you'd take more time considering the content of your posts, too.

When reading the crapauthors.com commentary about Terry I noticed him mentioning Robert Stanek and his followers in the same article. Not knowing much about the man beyond his name, this sparked my curiosity, so I had a look at his homepage and forum. The last 30 minutes I have been reading various threads, trying to finish my breakfast and morning coffee in-between fits of laughter. Some random examples:

Who doesn't love these books? - http://ruinmist.proboards23.com/index.cgi?...6380&page=1

Favorite place in Ruin Mist - http://ruinmist.proboards23.com/index.cgi?...read=1094417033

Move over Brooks, Goodkind, Jordan, Stanek ROCKS!! - http://ruinmist.proboards23.com/index.cgi?...read=1126461058

This Sparhawk character, mentioned on crapauthors.com, seems to be quite an energic character. While browsing the forums I think I found what must have been his first post, back in 2003 – before he saw the light that is Stanek:

I'm happy that he is not GRRM, 'cause I was shocked of aSoIF. Tell me, will a die-hard epic fantasy fan of Eddings and Brooks (like me) enjoy Stanek'works?

Sorry for being slightly off topic, just thought I’d mention this in connection with the discussed article.

Does this strike anyone else as incredibly ironic? Deleting posts on a Goodkind forum for poor quality prose. I wonder what would happen if Goodkind himself ever decided to post?

As for the rest of it, I simply took my time and chose my words rather than the usual. I simply refuse to waste my time of any of your other nonsense.

Five forums, fifty posts ... Yep, he doesn't waste any time on our nonsense. I give you credit Mystar, in that you give a decent length of response for every post. Could you teach us how to do that without spending any time doing it?

Not at all. We simply require respectful opinion and not barbed contentious posts

Doesn't this seem incredibly surreal to anyone else? Its starting to remind me of a Kafkaesque situation. You get banned one day, for no apparent reason. You haven't done anything wrong. And now Zadok says "hey're sure to remove any point of contention from their posts", and Mystar says that isn't the case, but you can't have "barbed contentious posts". Perhaps I'm misunderstanding this, but aren't "any point of contention" and "barbed contentious" posts pretty much the same?

I was in Forbidden Planet the other day and considered having a quick look at a Goodkind book for a laugh. I couldn't bring myself to do it - what if someone saw me?? Next time I think I'll wear a big coat with the collar up, like a dirty old man in a porn shop...

It's a matter of degree, removing barbed contentious posts means you can disagree about yards, but you still aren't allowed to criticize the books, because that would be a barbed attack on the author, and barbed things are evil, if you remember the barbed dick scene.

Something I just noticed. Here are two consecutive posts in this thread with the relavant points highlighted.

Thanks for the great link.

If you had used something other than abrasive and wording that is a blatant attempt at evoking an attack I would have allowed it. But you seem incapable of posting in such a manor... oh your prose seems to be lacking of maturity and professionalism. Perhaps you should sleep on it and try again....

Just to prove it was not a typo mystar uses the incorrect spelling of the word in a subsequent post:

Not at all. We simply require respectful opinion and not barbed contentious posts. If you are capable that is.... ;)

But I suspect you do not wish a proper non-contentious debate, or you would have presented in more of a professional manor, more becoming of a serious inquisitor.

My point here is not to nitpick mystar's spelling, though the coincidence of two Goodkind fans getting the word wrong in two separate instances is highly amusing in itself, but I wonder perhaps, given the juxtaposition of the first reply from mystar to Wolf Maid's post, if mystar is in fact trolling this forum for some twisted reason?

I ask you, who is the more trollish? The troll or the troll who trolls him?

Hmm... I also remember mystar referring to TG as the Yeard - now, if that's just a derogatory in-joke developed on these boards, it could be a slip from someone who is just pulling our legs...

Oh, oh do a Gar scene, the one where Richard tells his friendly Gar he loves him and the Gar loves him too

Hmm, I think I can find something to that effect.

Having had so much fun reading the Robert Stanek forums, I decided to inspect Terry’s. Until recently, I was a bit surprised that people actually thought the “Goodkind is our Godâ€-forum was real – but that notion vanished once I had spent some time on the official one.

I would encourage everyone who have followed the Westeros Goodkind-threads to have a look here:

How has the SOT series changed or affected your life. Letters of insperation please - http://www.terrygoodkind.net/forums/showthread.php?t=81

It certainly has changed my life – even though I have only read the quotes of the day. I’m sure many more of you have been affected, so why don’t you share your experiences?

Something I find rather interesting is that within the scope of the first page of the thread we find one “chickenbuttlips†and one “Fyrechiken†– who obviously had their lives greatly affected by the Yearded Almighty. What is on the verge of being outright disturbing however, is this:

http://www.terrygoodkind.net/forums/showpo...mp;postcount=20

“Hissing, hackles lifting, the chicken's head rose.†Finally I have a face to the much spoken about diabolical non-chicken.
