The thing most people don't get about lip stain is that you really don't use it like lipstick. You put a very small amount on, I like to dab a tiny bit and spread with a finger. I don't know how it could look cakey because it's a liquid that goes on with a sponge or a marker tip. Think of how a popsicle turned your mouth blue as a kid, it's like that, not lipstick.

I guess I'm saying "cakey" when I mean that dryish look your lips get when you're using the wrong kind of lipstain.

I went through a learning curve with it at first. Now I wouldn't use anything else.

Based on this thread, I just purchased the Smashbox green primer and I'm going to try the Benefit LemonAid to see if it will help with my zombie-worthy dark circles.

I also bought another tube of Nars Heatwave (smokin' hot color that I cannot live without) and Sexual Healing lipstick. I could not resist it. :)

Hi everyone, you are all very active. I hope you don't mind if I participate with you. :)

I don't use foundation because I want to my skin to breathe and I don't want it to be too different if I decide to not wear makeup one day.

For my eyes, I always use a black eyeliner (Lancôme) with an eyeshadow, which color will most of a time matches with my outfits. Some black mascara. Some transparent mascara on the brows to fix them.

Then some Blistex and sometimes a pink lipstick (Dior Addict) or MAC Viva Glam VI lipglass.

Nothing really too much. I like to keep it natural and besides, there are not a lot of products for Asian skin here! lol

Oh, I've read some of you have sensitive eyes. In France we have this brand - Eye Care (http://eyecare.fr/index.html) specialized in sensitive eyes, maybe you buy them. You have to contact the export department to know the distributors but the brand is sold in 35 countries. Hope it will help. ^^

ES -- Heat Wave is one of my favorites. As is Funny Face. I actually don't dig on neutral colors really at all. If I am going to warpaint it up, I'm going to fucking warpaint it up!

Thus, favorite lipsticks are loud (Guerlain does some amazing reds), and my favorite eye shadow is Nars "Rated R"

I did some Christmas shopping at lunch and ate a burger in the car on the way back to work.

I checked the rearview mirror in the parking lot, and I had Heatwave all over my chin and around my mouth. That crap is extremely hard to get off of Casper white skin. :D

Angalin, what Chanel colors are you fond of? I have several reds, but they're a bit too hoochie mama for work. :)

Not at home atm to check the Chanel, but the Lancome stick I have with me is very subtle: Rouge in Love 300M. It has an SPF block which doesn't irritate, for once.

Isis -- I use the lipstick.

In my experience, Nars lipsticks are the right level of matte. MAC on the other hand (unless they've changed their formulation) are way too dry and gross. For the non-matte, I go with Guerlain.

Those who have met me know how much make-up I actually wear (next to none). I just have no fucks to give most mornings to get beyond mascara.

MAC lipsticks are not friendly to me either. And you don't need more than mascara to look great. *ducks just in case* ;)

(eta: I think you probably don't need mascara either for that, to be clear)

MAC lustre formula (and that's how they spell lustre.) is creamy, moisturizing, and has a nice shine. It's not dry and gross at all and is actually my favorite feeling lipstick. The other formulas are icky.

I used to wear Twig in whatever finish that is, but I think it's too dark for me now.

Also- eyebrows. If it weren't for my Anastasia eyebrow kit, I dunno what I would do.

I'm using that as well, though at one point I just had to set them aside and go for instinct. Perfect eyebrows to me are like the Holy Grail - I've been obsessing over them for ages, but not quite seen them yet.

I use The Body Shop skin products, and make-up is still vague to me, so I don't care much what brands I use.

ES, a friend of mine did the Fraxel procedure. It took about 4 times and is apparently painful. My friend turned a lovely shade of red for a few days each time she did it, but I must admit she was able to get rid of little acne marks, etc., and her skin now glows.

Did you have to ask for advice from "older ladies?" Really?

Bai uses one of those electronic face cleansing machines I always see advertised on The Shopping Channel, that some women just swear by, like this Clarisonic skin cleaner. Rough skin generally means dry skin, do you ever do facials? There are things available like deep moisturizing facials that could get you started toward re-hydrating your skin, which you would then follow up at home by assiduous attention to your moisturizing routine. I'm lucky in that I generally have excellent skin, but it does get drier at this time of year, especially with the lack of humidity in the house in winter.

Kay, do you have lip stain recommendations? Something that isn't too dark, but more asking to my natural lip color (pink/mauve/rose). I admit after reading your post, I must have been applying lip stain incorrectly as I just rubbed into my lips like lip gloss, somewhat, and I always had to follow with a lip balm.

ES- try the Clarisonic a couple of times a week, like FB said. I was also going to suggest facials (like FB said :D). A good facial specialist will know what you need and change the types from visit to visit as your skin changes all the time. :)

Nowadays I use Oriflame cosmetics - all the facial creams, lotions, moisturizers and foundations are really light and gentle on my skin - I usually get redness or actual pimples from some other products out there, guess my skin's sensitive. Anyway, since I'm kind of lazy when it comes to putting make up on, it's just a bit of foundation or concealer, mascara and lip gloss/chap stick.
