  1. Past hour
  2. Damn you and your Eurocommie metrics. That really isn't very far. ?
  3. It also shows a staggering lack of awareness. He says he wants an end to 'sick note' mentality, when he says this shit does he not realise people are going to be 'hand on a second mate, everyone is sick because your party have underfunded the NHS for so long'.
  4. What a cunt. Sunak accused of launching ‘full-on assault on disabled people’
  5. Today
  6. I'm a fan of his. I read The Beach the year it came out and I've consumed all his stuff since. I thought Ex Machina was great. I also really enjoyed Devs. Men, I thought had a great concept but it felt like it was lacking something and I feel the same way about Civil War. Maybe directing isn't his strongest suit? While the trailers for other films were playing (before watching Civil War) my seat was vibrating but I noted that during the film the sound wasn't as loud. NB this was not an IMAX showing. I might watch it again if it was on TV when I was channel surfing.
  7. “She said that by our thoughts, we called forth forms. And those forms are what you and I call gods. Not really divine, but rather an expression of the congregation who summoned it. Summoned isn’t the right word. She uses egrygor . An Inlisc word that means ‘reflected lights.’ We focus and reflect these parts of ourselves into a thought that gains form and power. And that, she said, was what we worship and pray to, and what answers our prayer as well.” This the section that had me thinking Scot..
  8. If the girl Jamie saw at the Castle is not Jeyne and if the prologue might feature the widowed queen, it follows that the BF will be with her. It's possible we'll get an answer whether Robb and Jeyne had a baby. Tom O Sevens knows that the BF escaped. It follows then that the BWB may also come to know soon enough which leads to the discovery of Jeyne by the BWB, Lady Stone Heart seeing Robb's child, the heir to Winterfell. Through Alys Karstark we know how the hierarchy of inheritance works. The baby, boy or girl, will supersede all the existing siblings' claims (Peytr machinations via Sansa) and the existing fake heir (Jeyne Poole) Although plot-wise it speeds up the LSH story which might not sync with other threads. It may even be that the prologue will have an open-ended ending, just like Edric's escape, last seen on a boat to adventure. Perhaps we will see Jeyne and the baby surrounded by Nymeria and the wolves...
  9. Man I wish that Industrialisation and Capitalism shit hadn't happened, I hate having medicine and not starving. It sucks.
  10. Yes, certainly - apologies, I was making a joke at SeanF's expense after his earlier comment above.
  11. I spent the last two weeks walking around Tokyo and Yokohama, but due to the fact that I won't sign away my biometric data for use by third parties, Samsung Health won't track my steps anymore. Is there any step tracker app that's kind of like DuckDuckGo, one that at least claims to respect privacy?
  12. Honestly the longer Benjen stays missing, the longer I wonder if George has any idea what to do with him. In fact he feels less like a character and more like a plot device. He's only appeared in the flesh in about 2 or 3 chapters at most.
  13. I do agree its possible Benjen deserted, but do you all forget he promised Jon he would be back on Wall by Jon's 15th birthday? So, I don't think he deserted, because he had reason to come back. Plus, I think it was implied Caster knew what happened to Benjen, just didn't want to admit to NW when they came. Also Gilly said there were not many boys born in Caster's Keep lately. I think Benjen came to Caster's farmstead when there were Others/WW presents and Others took Benjen and his crew. They needed boys, but Benjen was good enough. We already have two od them known dead.
  14. This is an egg-cellent catch (I regret nothing!) The 3-eyed raven pecking through skull as a metaphor of releasing Bran's 'third eye' fits perfectly the image of the raven pecking at the egg. Not sure this has much to do with Benjen specifically, but it's probably a deliberate parallel by George. Just a thought, but perhaps the power dynamic is important here? The raven 'belongs' to the Old Bear, so is therefore subservient. So if this raven is a Bloodraven parallel, might he be 'in service' to an even higher power? George has funny ways of using his imagery.
  15. Only read Fevre Dream................I wasn't a fan. I didn't hate the book, but it's no A Song of Ice and Fire and it's a book I can't ever picture myself reading again.
  16. Equal rights for both genders and no discrimination for bastards, isn’t advanced, lol
  17. The BwB keeps coming up on this thread, but I really do not think that the prologue will be about the BwB. As I already said above, the prologues usually give us a window on things we have not been introduced to yet or that we WOULD NOT OTHERWISE SEE. The BwB has not one but two PoV characters already there to tell their story. Not only that, but the BwB's story has become utterly inseparable from those two characters' subsequent activities. It therefore makes zero sense to put BwB action into a different PoV and separate it from the main storylines of Brienne and Jamie. I am not fully attached to Nymeria's pack appearing in the prologue either, but it would make more sense than the BwB. Arya has only dreams from a wolf's perspective to connect her to Nymeria and she has not taken an active role in guiding those dreams since pulling Stoneheart from the river. Meaning that over in Brraavos, any sense Arya gets of what happens in the prologue is confusing and indirect. Yet Nymeria's connection to Grey Wind would have given the wolf a sense of Sybell Spicer, her brother Rolph, and also of the fact that Raynald and Jeyne were not on the same page with those two. Also, the Blackfish has escaped Riverrun, but it is still jumping to conclusions a bit to assume that he would automatically end up with the BwB. While he would have trouble travelling unrecognized through the Riverlands, he does also have allies willing to hide him who are not necessarily connected to the BwB. I rather think we will see him next in the Vale. He lived there for more than a decade, has many friends there and used to serve a prestigious role. He would simply tag along in disguise with a group headed there for the tournament. It remains possible then that NONE of the Blackfish, BwB OR Nymeria plays any role in the prologue. In which case, the prologue may take place not in transit, but on arrival at the Crag. Maybe Sybell's magic has a broader network there, active in the Westerlands in very interesting ways. We have never had a PoV in the West at all and this would be a unique chance to have some insight, finally, into the inner dynamics of Lannister bannermen, some of whom may actually have been connected historically to Houses Reyne and Tarbeck.
  18. Israel overdoing a response? Impossible, would never ever happen. /s
  19. Season 2 officially confirmed https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/fallout-renewed-season-2-amazon-1235975879/amp/
  20. Great OP. I enjoyed reading it. I'd add one more possibility - agent for Bloodraven. In other words, he has been in contact with BR and is acting on his behalf. In which case, I would place him south of the Wall. This is something of a puzzle to me as well. It reminds me of Bran: A Clash of Kings - Bran II
  21. The absolute most i will do is 4000m, and thats only on really good day, most days its 3000, sometimes even 2000 if i'm exhausted/hung over.
  22. Honestly I think a 30 mile bike ride while smoking a joint and stopping for a glass of wine/beer at the midway point isn't anywhere as close to as difficult as just putting 10 minutes in on that fucker.
  23. The viewership numbers are still looking good if not stellar. This show will lose the no.1 spot for English shows this week, as Baby Reindeer is surging, but it should still be in the top 10 for another week or two at least. So can they just get on with renewing it? I wish Netflix would just have some intellectual commitment to an idea and follow it through sometimes. This is the kind of show where enthusiasm needs to build because it does not fit easily into a box so can take time for some to discover. That doesn't mean it will not succeed. I predict a second season, if they have some courage and actually invest in it, will have MUCH stronger numbers than the first as people over time try it out. and get excited about seeing more.
