  1. Hello everyone! I'm Bucket. :) I'm 22, American and so far I've read the first two books, half of AFFC, and watched the whole series. I used to forum a lot in my youth but forums I used to frequent have been down on traffic lately, with most of old guard gone, so I'm looking for a new home! This place looks pretty busy and you all are probably pretty cool seeing as you're all Game of Thrones fans, so can't wait to meet you guys and started posting! :)
  2. Eh, I feel like you still have to give the show some credit. Yeah, it has some nonsensical bits to it and yeah not everything has been perfectly written, but compared to your average sitcom or TV drama the quality is still light years ahead. There are still plenty of interesting characters, and the acting talent alone deserves at least a bit of credit. Everyone one of the actors on this show would be the best actor on your average TV show on NBC or Fox. Sure, Jamie and Bronn had a pretty whatever storyline this season, but they're still both phenomenal actors.
  3. I mean...I feel like you could argue that Mel figured that Shireen's sacrifice would help turn the battle itself in some way, not just melt snow. Either way I feel like really didn't do Stannis justice in terms of his military ability. He literally just...walked up in a loose gaggle of troops up to Winterfell. Doesn't seem like something a seasoned military veteran would do.
  4. I mean obviously I would cut the writers a lot of slack if that were the case. But what Metopheles said has merit too. There are different types of cliffhangers and I felt like these weren't good ones. Finding out what happens to Tyrion and varys after the death of Tywin is a cliffhanger, but there is resolution in that Tyrion does kill Tywin. The journey ahead is open for a lot of discussion. Versus, say, just cutting away the moment a sword falls, or two characters jumping off a wall. Meh. Don't get me wrong, it's still fun speculation and I still enjoyed the episode. I just wish there was at least a little tying of threads, instead of just leaving us with a fistful of crazy stories all going in crazy directions with no clue what's going to anyone.
  5. I feel like the writers literally sat down and decided to have a competition to see how many cliffhangers they could fit into one episode. I mean, I enjoyed it, but at the same time I was profoundly irritated. Pretty much nothing was given a shred of resolution. At least in previous seasons we had a least a few things tied up or close to (backwater, red wedding); this episode just threw crazy stuff at us and was just like "lol fuck you wait a year now shitstains". So meh. Honestly I feel like D&B are rather weak writers on their own and that the more they write their own storylines the worse the show becomes. This show has always been at its best when it was follow Martin's work.
  6. Hello everyone! I'm Ser Bucket (though you all can just call me Bucket =P). Game of Thrones is definitely one of my favorite things, in like....my whole life. Its seriously so fresh and macabre and darkly humorous and surprising and I just love it. I hope you guys don't hate show-only watchers (I'm sorry!!), as I haven't read the books yet, but I did just buy the first book and I intend to read that very soon. Anyways, I've been in and around forums for a long time, but the one I normally frequent has declined rather sharply, so I'm on a quest to find a new home! Can't wait to start posting and hope to see you all around! ~All Hail Stannis, The One True King of Westeros!!!~
