  1. Oh, my sweet summer child. It’s called the vocal minority for a reason. The online fandom is merely a very small faction and don’t even come close to representing the opinions of the fandom as a whole. Look at Star Wars, for instance. The online backlash against The Last Jedi was huge, yet The Rise of Skywalker still made over a billion dollars. If that didn’t teach you that online reaction means nothing I don’t know what will. Again, the GOT finale was the most watched episode in HBO history, season 8 earned 32 Emmy nominations, winning 12, including Best Drama, GOT was the most in-demand show of 2020, and season 8 topped the Blu Ray sales charts. Those are indisputable facts, but don’t let that stop you from creating conspiracy theories.
  2. Here is an article about their departure from Star Wars. As you can see, it had nothing to do with the reaction to the final season: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/why-star-wars-didnt-work-game-thrones-duo-1250798?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=THR Breaking News_now_2019-10-30 14:42:05_ehayden&utm_term=hollywoodreporter_breakingnews
  3. The finale was the most watched episode in HBO history, GOT was the most in-demand show of 2020, and the season 8 Blu Ray topped the sales charts. I think it’s safe to say people enjoyed it.
  4. It’s only your opinion that there was a quality drop. What reports are you talking about? All the cast and crew had nothing but nice things to say about their working relationship with D&D. As for their talk in Austin, I think I know what you’re referring to, in which case there was nothing wrong with it. A Twitter user massively mischaracterized the things they said. A tape regarding the conference tells the real story. https://watchersonthewall.com/benioff-weiss-reflect-decade-game-thrones-austin-film-festival/
  5. If it was reported that they left Star Wars with no backup plan, you might be on to something, but that’s not what happened. They left Star Wars after taking a$250 million deal with Netflix, indicating that they found a better offer. That, plus all of the reports say that they left Star Wars for Netflix. Until you can prove otherwise, you’re merely pushing a conspiracy theory.
  6. I wouldn’t be so sure. GOT’s popularity skyrocketed after they left the books behind and that’s around the time they started winning Emmys. Also, half of GOT was made up of original content. I could be wrong, but didn’t HBO ask D&D to executive produce House of the Dragon and they’re the ones who turned them down?
  7. All signs point to it. After the sequel trilogy, becoming a part of Star Wars may have seemed less appealing to them. But if you would rather hold on to your conspiracy theory based on hate, not logic, that’s your business.
  8. They quit Star Wars because they signed a $250 million deal with Netflix, lol. They already signed on to two projects: The Three Body Problem and Overstory.
  9. The actual dialogue was that Trystane was the youngest son of House Martell, which was absolutely the truth.
  10. Maybe because they took a book series that the author himself considered to be “unfilmable” and turned it into the most successful television series in history. At the end of the day, money is all HBO cares about, and D&D have proven to be money-making machines. Netflix is lucky to have them.
  11. Or people simply have different opinions than you. I don’t convince myself to like shows. I either like them or I don’t. That’s why I stopped watching shows like The Walking Dead, American Gods, Westworld, Better Call Saul, etc. If I felt like GOT’s quality has suffered, I would have stopped watching it too. But I didn’t, because it’s still amazing and my favorite television show.
  12. I never liked prophecy, and I only enjoy magic in spades, so I guess that’s why I liked it and you didn’t.
  13. A lot of people did love the episode, but a lot of people hated it as well, for various reasons. I happen to be in the former and loved it. I, personally, had no problem with the lighting, and I’ve never felt so stressed while watching an episode of any television show. I certainly understand the complaints, especially if you’re a Jon fan or if you expected the Night King to be the final antagonist. I did too, until I really thought about it. They had gathered the biggest army Westeros had ever seen, had armed that army with as much dragon glass and wight/White Walker killing weapons that they could find, and had two dragons at their disposal. Winterfell was the perfect place for the living to make their final stand. I’m not sure how a retreat would have worked without the dead catching up with them. It also doesn’t hurt that Arya is my favorite character.
  14. The Night King wasn’t defeated in a single episode. He has been in every season since season 4, and besides last night, has played a role in 4 big White Walker sequences.
  15. 10! What an incredible episode! It may even beat out Winds of Winter as my favorite. My highlights: Arya killing the Night King! The deaths of Theon, Edd, Jorah, Beric, Lyanna, and Melisandre were all well earned Jon, Danerys, and Night King aerial battle Arya and Melisandre Arya, Beric, the Hound The Dothraki opening charge Jon vs. Ice Viserion The music Sansa and Tyrion Bran and Theon
  16. Agreed! Show Euron isn’t great, but at least D&D aren’t trying to turn him into a main antagonist, like Martin seems to be doing with Book Euron.
  17. I saw Sam telling Jon about his lineage as a continuation of him finding out about his father and brother. It didn’t seem rushed to me.
  18. Gave it a 9! It’s tied for my favorite season premiere with Two Swords. The only thing I didn’t like was how easy Yara’s rescue went. My highlights: New opening credits Jon and Dany arriving at Winterfell Lyanna Mormont Jon and Arya Sansa and Tyrion Arya and the Hound Arya and Gendry Jon dragon riding Sam finding out about his father and brother Jon finding out about his parentage Last Hearth The Jaime/Bran stare down
  19. I gave the finale a 10. It was a great way to end the season and a big step up from the two previous episodes. All in all, this wasn't my favorite season, but it wasn't my least favorite either. I still liked it better than seasons 3 and 5. The first four episodes were very strong, with the Frey massacre, Nymeria's return, the pardoning of Houses Umber and Karstark, Dany meeting Jon, Tyene's and Olenna's deaths, the Field of Fire, etc. Also, Euron Greyjoy was a vast improvement over last season. However, Eastwatch and Beyond the Wall brought the season down. Eastwatch was rushed with too many plot points happening all at once and they could have done a much better job selling the wight hunt idea. Luckily, the Dragon and the Wolf bounced back and delivered my second favorite finale, after Winds of Winter. This season wasn't the best, but it was still very enjoyable and high quality and is the best television show so far this year.
  20. I gave it an 8. It was my least favorite episode of the season, but I still enjoyed it. My most glaring criticism was the fast pacing. I thought that the pacing of this season was very good until this episode. Too many important plot points happened in a very short span of time. I see that people still take these numbers way too seriously. It's all good fun. Everyone has there own ranking system, and they're all valid. As I've always said, quality is subjective. I don't understand why people get so offended just because someone's opinion differentiates from their own.
  21. They explained this in the Inside the Episode segment. It's a callback to season 1 when Ned tells Arya that she will marry a high lord and rule his castle, and she responds, "That's not me." So "That's not you" is referring to Arya's suggestion that Nymeria come home with her and become a domesticated pet. Nymeria rejected the offer and chose to be free, and Arya came to respect that decision. Personally, it makes me appreciate the scene even more.
  22. I enjoyed last week better, but this still gets an 8 from me. My highlights: -Arya and Nymeria reunion. So emotional! -Arya and Hot Pie reunion -Dany and Varys -Dany and the war council -The sea battle
  23. Plus, Iain Glen's name appeared in the opening credits.
  24. Arya didn't take out all the Freys, only the Freys that "mean a damn thing." I believe those were the words. House Frey is in current disarray, which is probably why the Lannisters sent a garrison to keep the peace before the other River Houses get any bright ideas. Also, Arya didn't punish the Freys for their father's crimes. She punished them for their own crimes. All the Freys broke guest right and slaughtered the Starks. It wasn't just Walder. You could tell they all took a part in the Red Wedding because they all cheered when "Walder" brought it up. You're right about Edmure, though. I have no idea what happened to him.
