  1. It was a good idea regardless of when they thought of it. No, it's a Daenerys moment to them. I don't even know what you mean by this.
  2. Gave it a 9! Absolutely loved it. Might have gone with 10, but I decided to save those for future episodes of the season. My highlights: -The cold opening of Arya massacring the Freys -Jon pardoning Karstark and Umber -Edd's return -The White Walker march -Arya with the Lannister soldiers -Everything with the Hound -Jorah's return. -Danerys coming home
  3. All of my Unsullied friends and family knew that Rhaegar was the father. How did your friend explain the line, "If Robert finds out, he'll kill him. I know he will"? It wouldn't make sense for Robert to want to kill his own son.
  4. Gave it a 10! My highlights: Mad Queen Cersei! King in the North! R+L=J! Frey Pies! Tyrion: Hand of the Queen! D&D Solving the Meereenese Knot!
  5. That analogy doesn't work at all. Jurassic World grossing 1.6 billion dollars isn't any indication that people thought it was good, only that a lot of people went to see it. If johndance had used viewership numbers in his argument, the analogy would have worked a lot better. People giving the show a 10/10 isn't really an indication that GOT is the best tv series ever, only that the vast majority really enjoyed the episode.
  6. Just wanted to point out the Vale army showing up isn't an example of Deus Ex Machina. The pieces were set up prior to this episode. People can vote however they like. Some simply prefer story over spectacle and felt the story aspects of the episode failed. The same goes for you. Respect other people's opinions.
  7. It seems like in every rating thread, there's someone complaining about other posters' ratings. These numbers really don't mean anything, so I'm not sure why you care so much. Let people vote how they want to vote.
  8. I gave it a 7, one of my least favorites of the season: Riverrun: Riverrun was my favorite part of the episode. I enjoyed Brienne and Jaime's reunion, Jaime and Edmure's conversation, and everything Blackfish. I'm on the fence about how I feel about his death being offscreen. Offscreen deaths don't bother me, as long as they're done well, like Stannis, but I think they could've either set it up more, or simply shown him take out a few Lannisters before going down. Braavos: Maybe I've watched too much television and movies, but I've had no problem believing Arya could survive the wound the Waif inflicted upon her. I've seen many television characters injured in a similar manner and survive. What I do have a problem with, though, is that she was able to race all across Braavos after receiving such a wound. If she had clutched her side and grimaced with pain as she ran, I could have accepted it, but she acted like she was fully healed. However, her confrontation with Jaquen and how she defeated the Waif were well done. I had no problem with the Waif's death being off screen. Riverlands: This was ok. The Hound was great and it's good to have Beric and Thoros back to finally put LS rumors to rest, but nothing spectacular happened here. King's Landing: Maybe this is my fault, but I was disappointed with the "I choose violence" scene. I was so hyped for that scene, and the Mountain only ended up killing one Sparrow. Other than that, it was fine. I liked the twist with Tommen banning trial by combat. Mereen: This was the weakest plot point of the episode. The only time Tyrion x Missandei x Grey Worm has been a hit for me was when they were making deals with the masters. Other than that, it has all fallen flat. I also think there should have been more build up to the attack. Conclusion: Not the greatest GOT episode, but still enjoyable. I can't wait for next week!
  9. I agree that Tywin's death was more interesting in the books, but I still believe that his death worked perfectly fine in the show. And I personally didn't like Tyrion's "where do whores go" plot in the books, so I'm not sorry it was cut. Can you elaborate on the bolded? Jaime's best season was season 3, but then again, after he leaves Brienne in the books, I didn't find him personally interesting again until his conversation with the Blackfish at Riverrun. Kevan isn't pro sparow, he's pro Tommen, who happens to be pro sparrow. Kevan is loyal to his king. This was established last season. To be honest, I have no idea who the lord of Casterly Rock is at the moment. It was Kevan, but since Jaime was released from the KG, does lordship return to him? As for Arya, the point of her story was to hang on to her Stark identity. Seeing the play triggered some of Arya's emotions, which brought her out of her "no one" persona. D&D were relatively faithful to books 1-3, but books 4-5 weren't as well received from readers and would have been a bitch to shoot. Some of their decisions are questionable, but for the most part, this season has been one of the show's best, imo.
  10. I'm not saying the show is perfect, no show is. Every show has its own flaws and plot holes. Where opinion comes into play is whether these flaws impact your enjoyment of the series.
  11. I've seen many posters cry plot hole for various scenes, when it is apparent they have no idea what a plot hole is at all. Plot holes are inconsistencies within the plot that goes against the logic already presented in the story. For instance, in sit coms, when a character has a sibling for one episode, but in later seasons, is an only child. There are a few holes in the series, but not nearly as many as people think, and I find them to be so inconsequential that they're barely worth mentioning. For instance, Cersei's saying that she and Myrcella were the only two to have lion necklaces, when we know that Sansa was given a third. If you find problem with that, fine, but to me, it doesn't really matter. There is no logical explanation for this inconsistency, and is therefore a plot hole. None of the examples you've provided are plot holes. Bran just awoke from a series of intense visions and discovered his uncle, long believed to be dead, is alive and just saved them. It's understandable, in that instance, that Bran wouldn't think to ask about Hodor. I'm not really sure what you mean about Benjen. After the Children saved him, he entered into the service of the Three Eyed Raven in order to stop the White Walker threat. As for Gendry, that doesn't even come close to a plot hole. The word you're looking for is loose end.
  12. Again, that is all your opinion. An opinion that isn't shared by many people.
  13. Opinions can't be wrong, which is why I'm not going to argue your belief about the show being an abomination. I may not agree with it, but you have the right to have that opinion. Millions of people love the show, making you the minority. Saying that you're right and all of those other people are wrong is beyond arrogant.
  14. I gave it an 8. After Bryan Cogman's last episode, I was a little worried about this one, but I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't my favorite of the season, but it was still very good. What I liked: The Tarly family dinner. The Braavosi play and Arya's change of heart Walder Frey's return Bran's visions and Benjen's return The High Sparrow's scheme What I didn't like: Dany's speech
  15. Things were a little different in my household. My family, including aunts, uncles, and cousins, are Unsullied and were completely shocked when Jon Snow came back to life. My dad and I were the only ones who read the book, and even he didn't think he was coming back.
  16. The Dosh Khaleen was predicted due to casting spoilers. It's not surprising for us because we've read the book, read the theories, and paid attention to filming and casting spoilers. The average viewer don't know what's going to happen in Dany's storyline and will be surprised, as they were when Jon Snow was resurrected.
  17. Oathbreaker? His lord commander gave him permission to go to the Citadel to become a maester, thus strengthening the Watch. He's no more of an oathbreaker than Yoren.
  18. Why does his mother think he's dead? A poster on Watchers came up with the idea that Olly's actor may have hit puberty and his voice may sound manlier than before.
  19. I too had a problem with the Tower of Joy dialogue, but with the opposite view. I wished they had used less of GRRM's dialogue. It was too poetic and worked wonders on page but didn't work on screen.
