  1. I think it’s safe to say Bumblebee was a reboot. It’s not like Bay was overly concerned with a coherent continuity in his films.
  2. I went back and rewatched DC: League of Super Pets. Still great. I honestly think this is the best thing they’ve done in a while. I saw the leaked “trailer” for Batgirl. There’s a reason it didn’t generate much buzz. It definitely had a feel of “feature-length CW show”. Though sometimes I fall into this trap, I don’t want to be that guy that piles on. There’s way to much of that in the CBM space and it always leaves a bad taste. I kind of feel sorry for the people involved in this because there’s no reason this couldn’t have been great. It’s probably a good thing that Shazam 2 and Batgirl have already fallen down the memory hole. At the end of the day, these are studio driven films. If the thing ends up being an incoherent mess, you can bet the lions share of the blame lies with the producers and executives. That said, it looks like The Flash might open soft and I’m detecting zero buzz for Blue Beetle. It’s going to be a rough summer for WB I think.
  3. The English tabloids love “reporting” about this couple, either individually or together. Harry’s lawsuits; arguably the most news worthy story about him in some time; not so much it turns out. Funny that. https://bylinetimes.com/2023/05/24/harry-and-the-press-read-all-about-it/
  4. I’m watching Shazam! Fury of the Gawds. I’m kind of on-the-fence about the first film, as it had things I liked and things that just bugged the hell out of me. Sure, some of them are nitpicks, but they’re nitpicks that take me out of the film. On balance I’d rate it neutral to mildly negative. It’s one of those, “Check it out if there’s nothing else on” films for me. Yeah, one or two good scenes aside, this one is complete shit. I don’t know where to start. I don’t know what’s more depressing; that Black Adam was better than this or that WW84 wasn’t an accident. ETA: dear god I’m only half way through this.
  5. I saw this in the cinema when it came out. I was perplexed as to why the theater wasn’t packed. I think it was also one of the first DVD’s I ever bought. I also remember a barmaid calling me a pussy for ordering White Russians.
  6. Season 2 didn’t have the novelty of season 1 but I thought it was still very good. I want to see where this goes.
  7. @Darzin is that what they said? They’re planning on 5 seasons?
  8. Of course I didn’t read it; because I have the impulse control required to stay the hell off a thread discussing episodes of a show I haven’t seen yet.
  9. Can people just not visit the thread until they’ve seen it? This isn’t that hard.
  10. It chooses… people who use spoiler tags in a “spoiler” thread.
  11. MUSTAAAAAACHE!!!!!!!!!!!!$$&@@“”&!!’! When Mustache and the dude rolled up I was like, OMGOMGOMGOMG!!! I may have let out an audible squeak. Giddy, I tell you. Giddy like a little girl. And then WHATTHEFUCK?!?!? Damn you show. Elijah Wood is a keeper. Misty better hang on to that one. Although he is a bit to relaxed about all this. Better keep an eye on him. Misty is always trying to help. She deserves a mulligan or two. Besides, the wilderness chose. Still, not cool, Wilderness. Yeah, that ending. Wow. Here’s to season 3 and some Mustache stew.
  12. Enthusiasms… Enthusiasms… I saw that in the theater when I was a kid. What a fucking amazing movie.
  13. I was actually familiar with her as a solo artist before I ever heard of Ike and Tina. If you were a fan of hers or not, if you came of age in the 1980’s, she was a part of your life in some way. She was everywhere but somehow she never got annoying or uninteresting. The fact that she was one of those ‘80’s video artists who’s relevance outlasted the ‘80’s says something. And what she went through to get there; Respect. But don’t get me started about how she treated Master Blaster. She was so mean to him!
  14. I’m telling you. Judge Holden in a wig. The animators pulled a fast one.
  15. 2023 sucks! Tina Turner didn’t die. She just went back to her much cooler, kinder, home dimension. Because 2023 sucks.
  16. It Chooses Misty is so goddamn under appreciated I can’t even. No. No. No. You eat the torso. Elijah, NOOOOooooo. Mustache is goddamn out of control. What with his mullet and irresistible sexual charisma. He’s going to be amazing with the right dipping sauce and a good wine pairing.
  17. This is so messed up. Stevenson was one of those actors that made a huge impression on me the first time I saw him (Rome), and who has been criminally underutilized ever since. RIP
  18. More than just bugging phones. Here’s an interesting wrinkle. I wonder how many more people who settled cases with these tabloids will be called to testify.
  19. Minions: The Rise of Gru The highest grossing animated film of 2022. Yeah, very 3.6 Roentgen.
