  1. It makes me sad that I can't remember one interesting conversation or witty remark this season. I just rewatched Blackwater the other day and it's sad how some characters have become shelves of their former selves. We just had a beloved character turn villain (Dany's transformation from noble heroine to power hungry tyrant should have made for some amazing political speeches and conversations) and instead you hear Tyrion talking about it in an almost descriptive banal way, and Tyrion was supposed to be the smart one! Just imagine what other more competent writers could come up with if they had to write about Dany's transformation.

    Game of Thrones legacy

Now that the show is over, do you guys think it will stand the test of time? I know most of us are disappointed here, but Im not sure if show only watchers will think the ending was as bad as we do. I've noticed that when the show started to decline in quality lots of people still regarded it as one of the best tv shows of all time. I think Got is a big spectacle in a way that hasn't been seen before, but perhaps the poor quality of the later seasons will prevent it from being considered as a truly good show?
  3. God that was awful. Kit's performance as Jon has always been terrible and tonight was no exception. Dany's death scene was so poorly directed. It was unintentionaly funny, almost like a parody. And Drogon just let Jon get away with it? Saint Tyrion being rewarded by giving him a hand position again. And letting him decide who should be made King while being a prisoner? Ridiculous. Bronn being made Master of Coins only cause D&D like his character and they felt the need to waste precious time talking about brothels. I bet they miss their ridiculous sex scenes too. They cant even come up with witty dialogue anymore. I Wonder how Got will be remember in a few years. The show is quite a spectacle in a way that hasnt been seen before but I wonder if the poor quality of the writing will bring down its consideration a bit?

GoT and Feminism: What Happens Now?

I dont like how the women ended up being portrayed on the show either. People claming men do terrible things as well are missing the point. Men dont get stigmatized when other men do something terrible like women do. Also if you want to see strong male characters you can go read any other fantasies series or any book really. Asoiaf is one of the few stories to have amazing female characters and that's rare. I hate that Dany turns crazy when she tastes a little bit of power. Cersei is insane. Arya has become a parody of herself. Sansa is so inconsistent. I only had Dany left as my favorite and after last night I am left dissapointed that George has gone down that road. I guess we'll have to see if Brienne's book story mirrors that of the show but she is only a minor character so yes, I would say that the female characters were not well handled here.

    Unpopular opinion

Is George even allowed to change the ending now? I have no idea but wouldn't he open himself to a lawsuit? I mean the HBO people probably paid good money for the real ending, wouldn't they look like fools if they didn't put that in a contract?
  6. I thought Emilia was great in this past few episodes. She has improved a lot. Kit however...
  7. I hate that Dany is going down like this. I thought that George wouldnt be that predictable. What a waste of a good female character. I never liked Jon as a character but Kit's performance has made me dislike him even more. I think he is seriously the worst actor on the show.
  8. I gave it a 3. Not just for Sansa. The writing and overall quality of the show are rapidly deteriorating.

    [Book Spoilers] EP503 Discussion

I think that there is a way to show this is a fictional sexist universe without having a sexist presentation in it. Do you really believe we wouldn't notice that woman aren't allowed to have any power in Westeros without seeing them walk around naked every week? There is a difference between showing sexism and endorsing it. This article sums up my thoughts: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/04/29/game-of-thrones-peen-problem.html

It's not even, that's my point. Why are you naming Marg and Cersei, I don't get your point?

Yeah I know. But that still doesn't compare. Showing a naked man every once in a while (and not completely) doesn't change the fact that we see naked woman walking around in almost every episode now.

I wouldn't mind it so much if they treated male nudity the same way but the way females are objectified and treated like a piece of meat in this show is just disgusting.

    Introductions

Hi everyone. I've found out about Asoiaf through the tv show last year and have since read all the books. My favorite character is Arya and I really like the Tyrells. I'm from South America so I hope my english is not too bad and I can have a good time in these forums. By the way Merry Christmas to everybody!
