  1. the calendar will ship soon: "This title will be released on July 25, 2023." says my amazon page. hmmmm - maybe that will coincide with a book release ... maybe ?
  2. i've searched the threads, i can't read/re-read all the search results i'm feeling like this is a "big small question" so please - yay or nay away: the Citadel - what was it originally? the whole rod/ring/mask business - what is the point? that really puzzles me. even the concept of the Maester's chain - so many things to read into that. is this what Jaqen is really going for, one or three of these objects? we don't read of Maesters actually using (any of) these objects for anything & if they aren't "used" what is the purpose of each of these objects? why would all three objects be received/rewarded at once, wouldn't it be more like one earns all three objects individually then one is awarded something bigger/cumulatively? (& especially now i think on these object things after watching the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II & the new King's & Queen's coronation, objects such as these are really interesting) is it possible the Alchemists &/or Shadowbinders were once part of a Meastership 'degree' & hence these objects? (all the guilds under one roof as maybe hinted at in Bravvos) one of my thoughts is that a representatives of each of these "industries" were of the companions of the Last Hero in that legend. plus, it bothers me that Quaithe always wears a mask. and more powerfully: that potentially a combination of action could happen for magic: Alchemist ace + Blacksmith guild expert + Higher Mystery Valyrian Steel Maester = maker of Valyrian/Dragonsteel Blades or something along those lines
  3. hi all - just hanging out. hello @alienarea ! nothing new for me either. i just re-listened to the "Euron with the horn" video snip Elio posted to the tube & posted a blurb out about that in that associated thread. would anyone mind if i tossed a couple ideas out for topic discussion in here? you all can y or n if it's been beaten enough. truly, i like that you all keep the "dump-truck full of money" crap out of the conversation /to a minimum here in heresy; i haven't watched the show since season two. as a result i find some people extrapolate the weirdest theories as a result of the brain fusion they get between the books & the show.
  4. @YeniAy_Ottoman it is hard to hear & the closed-captions are whack. this is what i can hear: ----------- (someone asks: another quick question?) GRRM: i don't promise any answers - haaahahahaahahaaahahaaahaha. (a voice interrupts - 'sorry have to go?') GRRM: Motions to the question asker: ask your question. QUESTION: Just quickly, since the Doom of Valyria no one has been able to step into it or sail near it but there are rumours someone was able to so is there any magic strong enough to withstand the curse that is placed up on Valyria & if so which magic is that? GRRM: I don't know about magic ... but there are people who have gone to Valyria & you know one of them is present in the book, Euron with his horn ... ah which is definitely of Valyrian manufacture and you may find out more about Valyria & who's gone there and some people go there and they don't get to leave again - haaahahahaahahaaahahaaahaha ... ----------- one must remember the time context: this was in December 2016. all the canon is published, the "dump-truck full of money" was into season 7.
  5. ahhhh Benjen ... he has so many answers to questions - would be a great POV. here is my thought dump: how about the idea that Benjen has 'awakened' his inner-warg on his last ranging? he's realized the truth in all the Old Nan tales & the semi-truths learned of Maester Luwin. more direwolves must exist somewhere in the north lands; a pack could assist Benjen based on his Stark authenticity - wargs being able to sense each other & all. & / or maybe, in the most dire of circumstances, as in the 'second life' of Varamyr, he now exists in/as a direwolf.
  6. hello @StarksInTheNorth, indeed, i LOVE the details & chapter/pov referencing on the googledoc timeline, i refer to it often. i have not seen any timeline on events prior to the novels & i would love to see such a thing. in regards to a time/character/location relationship sort of concept have you seen this totally awesome piece of work?: A Timeline of Ice and Fire i would even contribute $ for access/to fund a full time line (starting at the dawn of days) similar to the one linked above. ( the "atimelineoficeandfire" author doesn't seem to reply to emails, at least not to mine, else i would have the banner of that awesome timeline on my wall right now ... lol, my wall, my personal wall)
  7. i know @The_Watcher_On_The_Walls ... why didn't he ? i'm sure someone would have believed him/the story he would have told. this is what i think. it would have been great intel for the Watch to know of what happened. i don't have any links to some of the more thoughtful discussions that have been had on this topic but take a search for keywords in the main forum if you like; in all my readings of postings on this forum there isn't a definitive reason that i've read. general consensus is that he went "craven" got a good idea though? drop your book-related theory into the main forum for discussion people are hungry for new ideas
  8. this observation is another reason why R & L never ever even happened. neither of them cheated. yes, i have no proof.
  9. please, there is no canon that Lyanna ran off with a married man.
  10. that is not proven true; believe it if you like ... do realize you might be wrong
  11. hopefully everyone is just gearing up with more ideas
  12. good evening all: i'm looking for the GENIUS that is responsible for "A Timeline of Ice and Fire" ... anyone know? i email the gmail address link on the document every quarter or so; been doing that for a while but i never get an answer! also ... i've been spending time looking up time-line related things & such @Rhaenys_Targaryen this a off topic little shout out to you R_T: thanks for all the work of the past
  13. JeffJeremy - no, according to the records: https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/House_Clegane ... there could be some 'bastard' Cleganes somewhere.
  14. i did not know about the 'not properly released' & 'not supposed to be transcribed' bit about "the forsaken". i can not wait for the next book. i want so much to read the "the forsaken" chapter in it's proper form cause if it is half of what ever the hell it was that i read it is gonna be FREAKING GREAT. FREAKING MONDO SUPER GREAT. i can't wait for the next part of this adventure.
  15. that could be the clue: "benches" where i come from a 'bench' has no front or back - you can sit on either side. plus, they are portable, moveable. perhaps the sept conatains a number of benches and people move them about as needed.
  16. LOL - do you know this for a fact? would a triangle be the easiest? regarding the SEPT - i am not certain, it would depend on the size of the building but most recollections i have of character actions in the SEPT involve kneeling.
  17. greetings everyone - is a search of ice & fire broken? i have a OLD computer that has browser issues ... is the problem me/it? thanks in advance!
  18. OMG, i totally missed the start of this re-read .... @Seams .... can I join in now with my observations and such even though you all have passed me by? I certainly won't be able to analyze and speculate on the level that you (and all the thread contributors) have made but maybe some of my questions and observations can trigger some ideas? Have you completed tSS & tMK yet?
