Apparently some workers at a Wildberries (Russian Amazon ripoff) were conscripted from the workplace (a massive warehouse in St Petersburg), and in response their colleagues have torched it https://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2024-01-13/russian-firefighters-battle-to-put-out-huge-fire-at-online-retailers-warehouse

He seems to be going off on one on Twitter. Probably trying to get a job on GB News. -
The Bumblebee film was really good, the appearance much more faithful to gen 1. The Last Knight was ok once it became clear Bay was just taking the piss. It had the actor who played Carson in Downton Abbey playing a transformer butler called Cogdon. And Anthony Hopkins mugging it up

[Spoilers] Rings of Power 4: The Battle for Middle-Earth begins
Derfel Cadarn replied to Ser Drewy's topic in Entertainment
I didnt mind thr elves at Helm’s Deep, but it could have been saved for RotK. Instead of the army of the dead stomping the orc army, maybe have an army of elves and dwarves show up? In the books thr elves and dwarves of Mirkwood and Moria (along with Dale) saw a lot of fighting, so it could be a nod to that -

Most movies seem to have shitty tactics. Empire Strikes Back’s Hoth battle is dumb too -
Russia appears to have captured Mariinka. Not that there’s much left of it https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-67820916

This is absolutely in the public interest. The Home Secretary (who is in charge of the police, etc) essentially saying that date rape drugs are bad, should be taken seriously, is taken seriously by the government… and then makes a joke about drugging his wife, suggests that in fact he (and by extension the government) in fact do not take it seriously.

Doctor Who: 60 Years of Mayhem (SPOILERS for latest episode)

I enjoyed it, and Gatwa is great so far. Also like that his ‘wardrobe’ is oretty good without verging on parody like some previous outfits. -
[Spoilers] Rings of Power 4: The Battle for Middle-Earth begins

I believe it was WB (or New Line) who forced Jackson tondo it when Del Toro pulled out by telling him if he didn’t, they’d give the project to Brett Ratner to direct. The Hobbit as it stands is an Oscar-worthy masterpiece compared to what Ratner would have shat out -
Doctor Who: 60 Years of Mayhem (SPOILERS for latest episode)

I *think* the retroactive bigeneratiins cause timeljne splits ie when 11 becomes 12, he is still 11 in a new timeljne rather than all in the majn timeline. Otherwise they would be stuck eithout a Tardis, and surely someone would notice. Also if the copies can regenerate then we’ve endless doctors -
Doctor Who: 60 Years of Mayhem (SPOILERS for latest episode)
Derfel Cadarn replied to Werthead's topic in Entertainment
That’s been speculated but woth nothing to back it up. The theory that when 14 regenerates, he loops back and becomes 15 is probably the most likely, given 15 saying that he’s fine bexause 14 sorts his shit out. His Tardis is probably 14’s brought back in time. -
Wheel of Time 5: The Lion In Winter [book spoilers]

I think it was Robert Jordan who sold the rights. -
Managed several pages of Sharpe’s Command (the new one). Utter dogshit, Cornwall is either no longer capable or no longer interested. It’s set two weeks after Sharpe’s Company where he regains his captaincy. Except now he’s a major, which doesnt happen until the next book. And a character who died in the chronologically earlier Sharpe’s Battle is now alive and with a changed history. I checked online to find out if I was misremembering the rank, and learned of the other chronological errors. The series has always been iffy on continuity, especially wilhen the India prequels started, but it’s time for me to time out and send this book back to Amazon

Doctor Who: 60 Years of Mayhem (SPOILERS for latest episode)
Derfel Cadarn replied to Werthead's topic in Entertainment
Always wondered why they invented the whole war doctor thing rather than used McGann. Having him being the doctor during the time war always made more sense than Eccleston. Not got a link, but someone didnsone sound editing to remove the Spice Girls track fron that Giggle scene, and people are now inserting their own music to the scene. Had Last Christmas and ABBA anong others -

Doctor Who: 60 Years of Mayhem (SPOILERS for latest episode)
Derfel Cadarn replied to Werthead's topic in Entertainment
It can sort of be reconciled if one has the Easter special Planet of the Dead happen after the events of the End of Time. The seer on the bus does tell thr Doctor his death is coming, but that still works since it’s relativr to his future. edit: One explanation I like for everyone forgetting all the invasions is that shortly after, UNIT puts retcon pills in the water supplies. Can’t temember where this was mentioned, a book or audio probably -
Doctor Who: 60 Years of Mayhem (SPOILERS for latest episode)
Derfel Cadarn replied to Werthead's topic in Entertainment
One thing that is weird: This episode was confirmed to be set in 2023. Donna got married early 2010. Which makes Rose 13 at the oldest?? She is said to be 15 in the Star Beast. RTD does acknowledge the issue. Not sure why he didnt just set the episodes in 2025, whixh would also explain why 14 isn’t helping out in any contemporary 2024 stories -
