    Introductions

Hello! I'm Sarah. I'm in the Philadelphia area. I am a graduate student studying library science, and I hope to work in a public library some day. I had tried a couple times to read AGOT over the years but couldn't quite get into it enough to keep going. I started watching the HBO series last fall. Around that time I adopted two cats, one of whom is an all-white, (and deaf!) male, so naturally I named him Jon Snow. :D His sister is named Minerva. Anyway, I finished Season 4 Episode 10 last week and was blown away, so I gave the books another go and now I'm hooked. I'm really enjoying reading these forums. I love speculation and theories and what not. My hobbies include book blogging, cooking, baking, creative writing, and journalling. Looking forward to seeing you around!

How have you started reading the aSoIaF books?

I remember seeing the first few books in Borders (RIP) in the early-to-mid 2000s. I gave AGOT a go no less than three times over the years and could never get past page 50. I started watching the HBO series last fall and finally finished up this month. The end credits rolled for S4E10, and I just wanted more. I remembered that there are thousands of pages of primary material to keep me occupied. Started AGOT on Sunday, and now I can't let go. I was also in a reading rut, and I think this was perfect because I was already partially familiar with the basic storyline and cast of characters.

    Favorite POV Character

I love Tyrion for his wit and wisdom, Arya for her untamed emotions, and Ned for his honor, but Jon is my favorite, and not just because my cat's name is Jon Snow. I love how vulnerable Jon feels, yet it's an emotion he mostly hides. I enjoy the angst. It's endearing. I can't wait to watch him grow over the course of the books.
