I wonder if Gilly didn't already decide to have sex with Sam back when the two of them were sitting with Maester Aemon. Before the attempted rape, Sam had just eulogized and torched his father figure. Lot of people react to funerals by becoming sensual and life focused as Mel would say. Gilly may have been offering comfort the only way she could think of. The attempted rape was just some more action to get their adrenaline up. That also gets people sexy feeling when it starts wearing off. I'm just saying that I think the Gilly and Sam scene was very naturally played out. She could have even done it in a totally calculating way to bind Sam to her more securely. She's definitely empowered. Don't try to make her a passive victim of Sam's lusts.

I started a thread last week about Littlefinger's schemes and I don't see anything that has been proved by this episode. I did notice he gave Sansa the same advice he gives her in the leaked chapter about making Harry the Heir hers. If they try to combine Harry with Ramsay I may be ill. The lemon cakes who like dark Sansa will likely get some more of that but she'll also be out of control of the situation more often than not. Varys can't get back quick enough for me.

I don't think I agree that LF will be able to keep himself out of trouble with the sparrows, although he may be able to drag Cersei into it as well. What you suggest about him becoming hand is very interesting, however. Thanks for sharing.

bump This is relevant to my interests. Is she out to get him? Is she warning him? Is she asking for help? Book Cersei is a drowning woman grasping for rescue by this point. Maybe Carol wants to use Littlefinger against the Tyrells since Qyburn isn't the best Master of Whisperers.

I really hope you're right. This sounds likely enough, and I definitely agree that Bronn isn't coming back from Dorne, but I don't see any way out for Shireen.
