  1. I agree that people are going ott with their responses, but D&D are clearly referring to Stannis' decision to burn Shireen when they say 'this', not just to her being burned.
  2. He definitely looked in pain when watching he burning. It was the build up to it where he seemed far too calm for me. But I agree that during the burning he had a haunted, pained look to him.
  3. This is literally my only gripe with the burning of Shireen in this episode. I can see book Stannis doing it, assuming logistical issues are sorted. But it didn't seem like something HBOStannis would agree to. The rest of the episode was weak, especially Dorne. Daznak's pit was underwhelming - but that was likely due to still trying to decide how I felt about the burning. A rewatch is needed
  4. Yes, but the show went out the way to express that there was no love lost between the brothers, so it made sense. This season they have built up a surprisingly tender relationship between Stannis and Shireen, and topped it off by him sacrificing her. The way they portrayed their relationship I can't help but feel like considerably more anguish and indecision would have made more sense.
  5. I can't see them pulling this by going off book, I'm fully expecting book Stannis to walk the same dark, despicable path. But for book Stannis it makes more sense - his views on sacrifice are emphasised more heavily, and he's nowhere near as close to Shireen. They rushed the hell out of the character development leading up to this, making it feel out of place and unlikely. It's a shame, it should've been an incredibly powerful turning point for the characters that the audience felt as well as saw. The way it went down felt more like shock tactics
