  1. I wish that were true. Virtually every scene for the past two seasons has contained something that doesn't make sense. This episode contained nonsense right from the start: while fiery boulders were being thrown at them and their city, Dany and Tyrion were just standing there, chatting about the Mad King. That kind of thing has ruined the show for me.
  2. That's one of the reasons why the show is still popular, despite it's decline in quality. People like to watch what their friends are watching, so they have something to talk about.
  3. If the first season had no good dialogue, had a series of unsatisfying pay-offs, and had only one exciting episode near the end, there wouldn't have been a second season.
  4. The ratings are high because of hype, and the viewers amassed while the show was good. Few would have watched this rubbish from the outset.
  5. I'm looking for a show that's both gripping and makes sense, like GoT in the early series. If GoT had started like it is now, it would have been cancelled long ago.
  6. It would be interesting to know the average age of those who gave this a high rating, and the average age of those who gave it a low rating. The simplistic plots do seem to be aimed at younger people this season.
  7. 5/10 The Battle of Winterfell had many cheesy and predictable moments, but was fairly entertaining. Meereen was pathetic.
  8. It would make sense if his son wasn't a Frey. There's no way Jamie would be permitted to kill one of his allies biggest assets.
  9. 4/10 Oh dear, that was embarrassingly bad. An amazing amount of nonsense in one episode.
  10. 8/10 This was the first episode since season 4 that I really enjoyed. Black Fish, Lady Mormont and the Hound were all great, and the episode had quite a few humourous moments. However, it was far from perfect: - The Brotherhood Without Banners killing innocent people made no sense. - The dialogue explaining how the septon found the Hound was clumsy. - The Lyanna scene was too similar to the Bank of Braavos scene, with Davos's speeches coming to the rescue again. - The meeting between the Blackfish and Jamie seemed pointless, as the Blackfish was never going to accept such a weak offer. - I don't know how Cersei resisted the urge to let the Mountain crush Olenna's head, after what Olenna said to her. - The Yara scene the endorsed the sexist stereotype that tough women are likely to be lesbians. - Arya surviving the knife attack was ridiculous. Talisa didn't get up and walk around when the same thing happened to her.
  11. 7/10 Bran: Cheesy and unrealistic, like his scene in the last episode. It took far too long for the White Walkers to catch up with them, and it was convenient how they decided to attack Benjen one at a time. Sam: Boring, pointless, badly written and very long. Why is Sam still in the show when so many great characters have been killed off? This wasted so much time, while many other scenes in the series have been unnecessarily rushed. Arya: At long last, we finally get to see the point of this faceless man storyline. Sparrows: I liked the unexpected twist with Tommen. Freys: Fine. Benjen: Fine. Glad they kept the same actor. Dany: I don't quite get why the Dothraki would want to help Dany invade Westeros. This hasn't been explained well enough.
  12. In my opinion, there are valid reasons why someone would rate this episode 1/10, and valid reasons why someone would rate this episode 10/10. Doing so doesn't make that person a troll or an unintelligent fanboy. If someone's enjoyment of the show has been ruined by the decline in the show's writing, giving 1/10 is understandable. If someone really enjoys the show, and doesn't care about the show's plot holes and inconsistencies, giving 10/10 is also understandable.
  13. 7/10 Sansa and LF: The scene made sense, but she's bound to change her mind and accept his help eventually. Arya: Boring as usual, and the theatre scene was unfunny. Meereen: Didn't make sense. Just an excuse to have a showdown between Varys and a Red Priestess. Iron Islands: Fine. The Wall: Poor dialogue. Davos made Sansa seem so dumb when she began lecturing him about the North. Bran: Moved the story on, but it was a cheesy unrealistic escape. The writers wanted me to think "Wow. That's how Hodor got his name", but I just rolled my eyes.
  14. Littlefinger's last words in his scene were 'It's time to join the fray'. That seems obvious foreshadowing that he has plans for the Freys.
  15. 9/10 The first episode in 2 years that seems to have been written by a professional writer. Why couldn't the past 13 episodes have been like this. I can't think of anything to criticise about this episode. Not only were there no plot holes for once, it even plugged some of the plot holes raised in previous episodes.
  16. Ah, my mistake. In an old episode, Sam's dad said he would tell his mum he died falling off a horse, but that was only if he didn't join the Watch.
  17. 7/10 Quite a dull episode, but the writing is less annoyingly bad in dull episodes. Wall: Had some poor dialogue. How would Jon know he had been dead? For all he knew, he could have been in a coma for years while his wounds healed. Also, why is Davos now swearing in every sentence. Bran: Fine, although the scene must be quite confusing for non book readers. Sam: Why would he take Gilly to his parents when his dad hates him, and his mother thinks he's dead? Meereen: Varys scene was fine. The Tyrion scene was almost as if the writers were mocking the episode's dullness. KL: Dull, but moved the story on a bit. Aria: Aria losing her sight and regaining it a few episodes later seems as pointless a story as Jon's death and revival. Winterfell: Nice to see Osha back, and I'm glad Rickon has the same actor. They explained reasonably well why the Umbers would support Ramsey. Wall: It was done well, but I would like to have heard Olly say something to Jon.
  18. I gave it a 6. Castle Black: Good, except for the 'just in time' trope with the Wildlings. KL: If Tommen regrets not ordering his men kill the Sparrows, why isn't he doing it now? The Sparrows appearing all around Jamie just as he drew his sword was cheesy, and the High Sparrow bragging about their success was out of character. Aria: Fine, but not much happened. Meereen: Some terrible dialogue between Tyrion and Varys. Why does Tyrion think he can form a special bond with the dragons just because he's Dany's friend? Aren't the others in Meereen friends with her as well? And if dragons are supposedly so smart, why did Drogon leave Dany in a mess? I'd love to know how they're going to get the dragons out through those doors. Sansa: Theon is recovering from his mental traumas far too easily. Boltons: Horrific, but well written. In character for Ramsey. Greyjoys: Fine Castle Black: Jon returned from the dead in the most predictable and boring way possible.
  19. I gave it an 8. Very predictable episode, but done well.
  20. I gave it a 2/10. The season has been poor, but I was expecting them to have saved a lot of good stuff for the last 3 episodes. The fact that this episode has also turned out to be poor is very disappointing. I was always in favour of the show's violence in the past, as it seemed like a realistic depiction of the horrors of medieval times. Now that the show is poorly written, the violence just seems like a crude way of attracting viewers. Dany's scene was like a scene from B-movie.
