How feasible would it be for some houses (Hornwoods, Flints, and Tullys) in Westeros to own the sellsword companies they created like the Wolfpack and the Stormbreakers. I know that it's not cannon, just wanted to know if it could be managed. The captain general could be the director of the company while the houses would own it. Also, I know many Ironborn served as Sellsails but why don't the houses or the the Greyjoys just sell their own fleet to make coin. I get that they like the "Iron price" but there had to be some lords who didn't give a shit about it like Quellon.

Sellswords are freelance. Good ones can make more gold on their own. Household knights serve the needs of most houses well enough.

  2. The Daynes probably branched off of the Pearl Emperor. Azor Ahai is Dany but it doesn’t mean she will strike the fatal blow that kills Dark Bran Stark and bring the light back to Westeros. A Dayne subject could do that. Dayne and Stark get their rematch and the outcome won’t be the same as it was in the tower of joy.

I firmly believe that every Frey will die, maybe except for Olyvar and a few others. What do you think will happen to the bodies? It would be awesome if they impale them on spears, Vlad style, and display them on the path to the Kingsroad from the Twins.

That’s just an awful ending. Robb and the Tullys forced Walder to make a decision when they marched an army to his gate. Walder gave Robb a better deal than that Stark boy deserved. Robb repays by betraying and insulting the Freys. The Starks should admit Robb’s guilt and forgive the Freys.

  4. “A death that was more than death. Howling forever in the darkness.”

I don’t think this is about becoming Dosh Khaleen.  DK isn’t exactly bad because of the power the crones have over the Dothraki.  It’s an interesting line. It’s full of meaning. The most intriguing word is “forever”.  Is this the fate of the ghosts in the hallway? They didn’t run fast enough and darkness took them?

Well, according to the CotF, the great lions have all been slain but Cersei does mention a couple of caged lions down in the depths of Casterly Rock. Now, imagine trotting these out against wild Nymeria. My bet would definitely be on the direwolf!

    Lions beat direwolves.

  6. The reason to plan the love triangle was to make Arya the teason for Jon to violate his oaths and fail Westeros. George found another way to accomplish that through Arya but without the triangle. Jon’s bond with Arya was the cause for him to betray the watch. The fall out will be really bad.

Actually it is king who decides what is legal or not and it is also he who hires HotK. So in theory it would be legal.

I disagree. The Lord Commander’s job is a neutral office bound to the Night’s Watch. Assuming the monarch is willing to do something extremely unpopular and proceeds anyway. I think the monarch and the lord commander will be facing a lot of resistance. Bloodraven in his time had loyal political followers but even his appointment would face a lot of resistance. A Targaryen monarch would be advised not to do it.  A stained lord commander like Jon would make it much more difficult.

  8. Real life lions are much larger and stronger than wolves. The direwolf is bigger, stronger than a normal wolf. The fight will be closer to fair but it seems to me that a lion still holds the advantage. The battle will be interesting.

The family symbols are the power rankings of the ruling class. The lions are stronger than the direwolves and won the feud. The direwolves are still breathing and may battle the lions one final time.

The krakens are second in strength only to the great Dragons. It needed the power of Balerion to destroy the wicked house of black Harren.

The Frey towers are strongholds but may also indicate the power of that family in the great game of thrones. The Starks may try to assault the castle and fail.

  9. The North will resort to cannibalism. It has begun with Bran and Wayman. Wayman is not getting away with that horrible deed.  Arya is losing her sanity and will lose more of what little is left of moral inhibitions.

A have a little theory as to why jaqen (a skilled assassin and escape artist) was on his way to the wall after spending some time in the black cells of kings landing.

Could it be that Jaqen was in KL thanks to Varys? I mean we already know that he has a gaoler-disguise so he could maybe have a part in Jaqen beeing there.

If the theory about Varys beeing a secret blackfyre is true he could have wanted Jaqen to assassinate some target in westeros in order to destabilize the realm before F/Aegons imminent invasion.

But who could this target have been? I believe that Ned could have been the target at first, but after his execution jaqen was assigned to assassinate someone else.

That makes me question as to why jaqen was travelling to the wall to join the nights watch. Did he have a target there? Could Jon have been jaqens target before beeing released into the Riverlands? If the Jon was the target, did Varys or someone else know his secret indentity as Rhaegar’s true heir and son?

Jaqen is still in Westeros, but has travelled the wrong way if he wanted to join the NW. Does he want to find something in Oldtown as F/Pate to get to Jon in some way?

I know that this is a really crackpot theory, but I have been pondering this for a couple of days and I thought that it might be worth beeing my first post on this forum! Looking forwards to your thoughts and answers!

Ned and Robert. The Magister hired Jaquen to remove the impediments to a Targaryen return.

Rhaenys, Rhaenyra, Rhaella, Rhaegar, Rhaego.  All of them died before their time while they were still young.  Jon Snow could be a bastard son of Rhaeger and Lyanna.  Lyanna was crazy enough to dare name her bastard Rhaegar after his royal father.  Jon was killed for betraying the Night's Watch.  That puts him in the pattern of the Rhaes.  I am actually happy about his death.  But I am worried about Dany's dragon, Rhaegal.

That does seem to predict something bad for Rhaegar’s child, whether Aegon or Jon. Though I think those meatheads are not his.

Doesn't the eye color change as well?

And there shoul diferenciate between shapeshifting (Jaken) and mask wearing. Arya's endgame might be shapeshifting so there would be no ecos of the mask's soul.

Shapeshifting as in changing her body? That is not likely. Possession of another animal, like a primitive direwolf, is an endgame for Arya after she finishes her horrible list and loses more of her sanity. Arya’s physical body dies but what’s left of her mind finds a place in her wolf.

:D This kind of summary of The Red Wedding probably earns a lot of likes in the Trollverse, right?

It’s a fair description of what happened.

  14. Cat would have stayed dead. The dead should stay dead. Cat killed Aegon Frey and they killed her for it. It was even. She then comes back and starts killing more. Her sins increase and so does her punishment. It should be the same for Arya.

Well, Arya might escape a deserved punishment if she were run to the other side of the Wall to live with the Wildlings. She can live out her days until the madness fully takes hold.

Or die very young. Arya’s mental illness is in its early stages and if she dies in the Riverlands before she can get back to Winterfell she may be spared what happened to Cat and Lysa.

It won't.  What's being overlooked is that the Freys' actions offend the Gods, in a world where 99% think the Gods are as real as members of their own family.

You're making the mistake of thinking that Westeros is as irreligious as a modern Western European society, from which the very idea of blasphemy has disappeared.

And even in a modern Western society, they would be deemed guilty of perfidy, which is a very serious war crime.

Robb broke an oath. That is the mitigating factor. He is the son of the man who was executed for treason.

Breaking a marriage promise is reprehensible, but it is not a crime against the Gods.

Murdering guests, at a religious ceremony, is not just a crime against those guests, but a terrible offence against the Gods.

That is why the Freys will receive no mercy.

Some of the Freys will get punished but most should not. Robb rebelled and threatened to break apart the kingdom. Walder’s brutal takedown of the Starks was a public service to hold Westeros together. History might see it in a more objective view.

The insanity of the Tully sisters is worthy of discussion because of Arya's own declining mental health.

The Rickster and his wolf are dangerous too. Rickon will be a wild cannibal if what we know about the people of Skagos is true.

Mance is still at a serious disadvantage because none of the others like, respect or fear him because of the low quality of his troops, Tywin is feared, Stannis is respected, Robb was respected and feared until his mistakes made his cause collapse.

Balon really is an idiot, Jon isn't to anywhere near the same degree and he has people he can ally with which Balon refuses to do

Robb used force, his attack mutt, to get respect. He was pretty smart in tactics but awful at governing. It was stupid to break his oath to Walder and dumb to kill Karstark. And Jon is just as dumb as Balon.
