  1. @divica, courtesy of Lost Melnibonean Here is where a good deal of the discussion about the northern timeline in Dance/Winds begins... http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php?/topic/84563-most-precise-asoiaf-timeline-in-existence/&page=17 Here is the current thread... http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php?/topic/145244-most-precise-asoiaf-timeline-v3/
  2. That is a timeline that the *smarttest fans of this forum got together and made. It is updated as new, or detailed, info is given. There is a thread for this timeline to discuss facts or changes. When I find it I will send it to you. I just want to add that no one claims it is perfect, just close to it
  3. Here is a timeline that while still only slightly being tweaked, is rather accurate. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZsY3lcDDtTdBWp1Gx6mfkdtZT6-Gk0kdTGeSC_Dj7WM/htmlview#gid=8
  4. I was just coming here to say the same type of thing is happening to me as well. However, I am getting that message when I try to look at the 'online users' list. Sorry, there is a problem The page you are trying to access is not available for your account. Error code: 2S100/2
  5. Has this wordplay been done? Oaths and oafs. Both are ridiculous. Im on my phone which makes it hard to add more, but do we really need much more when comparing oaths and oafs in this story??? And my thanks to the one and only Roy Dotrice for helping point this out to me.
  6. Sounds about right. There were some instances with myrish carpets specifically being in the room when lies were told. See, this could be an interesting thread
  7. This could be an interesting topic. @sweetsunray and I (informally) went over Myrish lace in the story, or just things from Myr, and it seems that they are not what they seem. Such as the Myrish lens makes things closer than they appear, Sweets is not what s/he appears to be, etc. We found this not to be confused with the duplicity/betrayal you get with the clues that come from plums or pomegranates, though.
  8. You are reading my mind tonight ! I was also looking at that earlier before I posted about Sansa Stone. I resisted adding it because from what I know, Lodestone is magnetic, but I couldn't think of anything else. UPDATING: Ok, I just googled it and maybe there are Lothston/Lodestone connections??? Hmmmm...kinda sounds how so many readers have described Sansa's journey so far. A lodestone is a naturally magnetized piece of the mineral magnetite.[1][2] They are naturally-occurring magnets, which can attract iron. The property of magnetism was first discovered in antiquity through lodestones.[3] Pieces of lodestone, suspended so they could turn, were the first magnetic compasses, and their importance to early navigation is indicated by the name lodestone, which in Middle English means 'course stone' or 'leading stone',[7] from the now-obsolete meaning of lode as ‘journey, way’. Lodestone is one of the few minerals that is found naturally magnetized
  9. That is EXACTLY what I was thinking, too. It plays in my mind like that
  10. Here is a quick one. Stop me of someone has already pointed this one out... Sansa is often compared to Danelle Lothston because of looks, bat symbology, Harrenhal stuff, etc... Right now Sansa is a Lost Stone, which sounds like Lothston.

" Only the novels (and the Dunk & Egg novellas) are canon."

Ha! I suspected as much. Saw too many discrepancies between the art and the descriptions of castles/layouts of tunnels and things. Interestingly, his statement goes well beyond the art and the RPGs. This implies The World of Ice and Fire, the Rouge Prince and the Princess and the Queen are not canon - that most of what GRRM has written already about the Targaryen dynasty is not true (ie. did not happen in-universe the way he states/implies it did in those books).

Oh well, at least I can be sure D&E are part of the canon now (I was anticipating Dunk dying before becoming commander of the Kings Guard, just in case I forgot that anyone can die. Now at least I can be sure that D&E won't die before Summerhall - or at least, won't die permanently before Summerhall.)

Hi @Walda This was news to me (about the comic books) because I thought they worked straight from the books, but I guess not? Your point about the descriptions on castles, etc got me to search a little further, and I found this...

I guess only some of the artwork, or some artists, are considered canon works. I know the artist Amok worked closely with George when he was creating the profile pics for the characters that are shown in the wiki.

I think the other stories PatQ and Rogue Prince are canon along with the D&E stories (which I love), as they already are mentioned in the main book series and the accounts of what happened. I do believe George agreed that the world book is semi-canon because it is purposely written with a few errors and purposeful Lannister leanings. And, this blog question was answered two years before the world book came out. I have seen lots of questions about the games and how game fans want the Foresters family in the books ^_^ That would be kinda cool for me because Dywen is a "forester" of a different type, and he is subtly important to Jon, and I really like Dywen.

      Thanks for this

  11. It was right before our eyes the whole time It could be a coincidence, but there are a ton of descriptors that refer to the north above the wall and the wall itself as being a green sea, waterlike, waves and water motion, and there is a part where Bowen Marsh refers to the wildlings as "lost ships", etc. Bran is "under the sea" while greenseeing as we type and read!
  12. A new thread on this could be a good idea. I bet we could find a lot of portals by way of doors, windows, etc
  13. Applause. Pair this with the fact that direwolves have not been south of the wall in 200 years, the same time the (Bad) Good Queen Alysanne diverted the Watch away from the magic gate which continued and exaggerated the demise of magic in the realm. The Nightfort and the gate seamed the two worlds together.
  14. I figured someone else might have. I couldn't find that thread you mentioned so that's why I dropped this here. I figured it was atleast on topic, if not a little random. Hmmm, what is Quaithe up to??? She was like Daario in that she was heavily encouraging Dany to find her inner dragon. I do think Daario is set to betray Dany very soon in the next book. Gods, I can't wait!!!
  15. I think it could be more of a connection to the red god not being so "good". Also, Mel doesn't really interpret things so well and she has a negative physical reaction to what she sees in her flames in her Dance chapter. It was just an idea anyway because I know we are all scrambling for the book to be released. That's all
  16. I am going to put this here because 1. I haven't seen it mentioned yet and I wanted to share for thoughts and ideas, and 2. I know there is a white-flame-woman-hand thread, but I can't find it. This is Melisandre talking to Jon and I included the whole section just to give a better idea of the situation. Anyway, thoughts?: A Dance with Dragons - Jon VI Jon glanced over his shoulder. The shadow was there, just as she had said, etched in moonlight against the Wall. A girl in grey on a dying horse, he thought. Coming here, to you. Arya. He turned back to the red priestess. Jon could feel her warmth. She has power. The thought came unbidden, seizing him with iron teeth, but this was not a woman he cared to be indebted to, not even for his little sister. "Dalla told me something once. Val's sister, Mance Rayder's wife. She said that sorcery was a sword without a hilt. There is no safe way to grasp it." "A wise woman." Melisandre rose, her red robes stirring in the wind. "A sword without a hilt is still a sword, though, and a sword is a fine thing to have when foes are all about. Hear me now, Jon Snow. Nine crows flew into the white wood to find your foes for you. Three of them are dead. They have not died yet, but their death is out there waiting for them, and they ride to meet it. You sent them forth to be your eyes in the darkness, but they will be eyeless when they return to you. I have seen their pale dead faces in my flames. Empty sockets, weeping blood." She pushed her red hair back, and her red eyes shone. "You do not believe me. You will. The cost of that belief will be three lives. A small price to pay for wisdom, some might say … but not one you had to pay. Remember that when you behold the blind and ravaged faces of your dead. And come that day, take my hand." The mist rose from her pale flesh, and for a moment it seemed as if pale, sorcerous flames were playing about her fingers. "Take my hand," she said again, "and let me save your sister."
  17. Why wouldn't five be the average starting point and then you add or subtract from there. Sometimes shows really are just a 4,5 and sometimes they are an 8,9. Starting at a midpoint, the average of what is expected, would be more rational than just listing fifteen things wrong and voting 10. Same the other way.
  18. Wow. That was awesome. I bet nobody would predict Sansa would continue to Betty her family, Rickon gets killed and Jon almost re-killed (which would be totally convenient for Sansa so thank god she was late), that new found lesbian Yara would find new found lesbian Dany... Cue the women on top now, amirite?, and Davos finds the Targaryen unburnt wood toy stag, and MEL FINDS HER RELIGION AGAIN!!! Yeah!!! Nothing predictable at all
  19. Aeron, it seems when I heard it, has been held captive for a while (a few weeks?) and he can't walk or stand. Some of Eurons mutes have to carry/drag him from his shackles up to the top of the ship. Also, Aeron makes note that the ties used on him are leather and he knows they will tighten on him as they sail through the salt water. Poor Dampy. Overall, the chapter started and ended in a very dark uncomfortable way, but the way it begins and ends are different experiences and you can see the plot moving along nicely
  20. There is a certain phrase that comes to mind when I think of this season so far, something about "tits and dragons". Yup, fuck the direwolves and any meaning they carry with them.
  21. I feel all shows should start neutral and either build or recede from there to get the end total. So I will start at a 5 and see where it goes. Pro's- Summer, finally, for the first time all of season 6. Yara does seem to accept Theon back as her brother and son of Pyke. No Dorne. So that brings it to a 9 (I gave two points for no Dorne). Con's- Summer... WTF? Thirty seconds all season and it is to kill himself??? Kingsmoot and Euron... seriously is kinslaying and kingslaying really a widely accepted thing now??? And HA-friggin'-HA to Euron trying to be super cool while a girl and a eunuch steel his stuff, but it still doesn't make sense why he was chosen. Sansa is now just a traitorous lying super C***T??? And the irony of Brienne lecturing her about lying when Brienne lied to her when they first met and Brienne still weilds a Lannister sword...... And where does Dany get fresh, season 6 Meereenese clothes from 24 hours after burning her wardrobe? And how can she command Jorah to find a cure for greyscale??? Doesn't she know that thousands of maesters have been trying that all these years? Bran and the time paradox thing started many more questions than it answered... especially for show-only audiences. Including the many, many theories on this forum and in general internet world that are debating which came first, the Bran chicken or the Hodor egg??? That adds up to 8 negatives for me. Overall= 2, even though it should be 1 because I liked some of the aerial shots. ADDING: Jeebus Christmas... I forgot Arya was even in this episode. What does that say?
  22. Right down to the exact same necklace!
  23. I agree. I have seen her in some other acting roles (not Terminator) and she is not nearly as wooden.
  24. On the show, the mother wolf was the "standard" wolf-grey with a slightly lighter/whiter undercoat. Here is a link if you want to read more about each Stark wolf http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Direwolf https://youtu.be/5Isq9hl7Tz8?t=48
