  1. Links of references 3 and 4 on A World of Ice and Fire entry are "broken".
  2. Although Aerys and Tywin were knights, their infoboxes do not mention "Ser" among their titles. In contrast, the entries of Maegor I and Robert Baratheon do. If there is any reason for the distinction, I apologize in advance.
  3. Although a Knight, Oberyn Martell is not in the "knights" category. I don't know if it was a lapse or if it is in line with wiki's stipulations.
  4. @Bastard of Starfall Welcome to the forums. You'll find that this thread is not the best place to start a debate on a new theory. I'd advise you to start a new, separated thread, with your theory as subject. Good luck.
  5. I was doing a research on runes and I notice runes' entry is missing info as such: Rattleshirt affirms to cast runes carved in dead man's teeth (ACOK, Jon VIII); Tormund has armbands graven with runes (ASOS, Jon I; ADWD, Jon XI and XII); Horn of Joramun's runes seemed to briefly shimmer in the air while the horn was afire (ADWD, Jon III). The exact meaning of the runes of the First Men is disputed at the Citadel to this day (TWOIAF: The Riverlands). House Royce of Runestone's sigil bears runes too (The Citadel. Heraldry: Houses in the Vale; TWOIAF: The Vale); The crown of the Bronze Kings is called "The Runic Crown" (TWOIAF: The Vale); The lid of the sepulcher of King Tristifer IV Mudd in Oldstones was carved depicting the King with the hands folding over the shaft of a stone warhammer carved with the runes that told its name and history, but the runes have been worn away (ASOS, Catelyn V); Runes indicate "Thousand Year War" were probably two hundred years of conflict in separate wars, rather than a single war lasting a thousand years (TWOIAF: Kings of Winter); In the morning of the day Jorah and Tyrion met the Widow of the Waterfront she had received, among other gifts, an ancient bronze dagger marked with runes (ADWD, Tyrion VII); There are stone monuments in the barrow fields and elsewhere marked with First Men's runes (TWOIAF - Ancient History: The Age of Heroes ); Only the names of a few legendary kings and heroes of the Riverlands are recorded on weathered stones in runes (TWOIAF: The Riverlands); Since the Ironmen were illiterate most of the things that are known about them came from runes of the First Men they attacked (TWOIAF - The Iron Islands); "In the stormlands oft as not the First Men carved the tales [...] into the trunks of trees, long since rotted away", supposedly in form of runes (TWOIAF - The Stormlands: House Durrandon); The oldest runic records confirm that men have lived at the mouth of the Honeywine since the Dawn Age (TWOIAF: The Reach: Oldtown ); Runic records tell of the crossing of Arm of Dorne by the First Men (TWOIAF - Dorne: The Breaking); And this seemed to need correction: The written form of the Old Tongue and the runes are different writing systems ("[...] written in the Old Tongue and the runes of the First Men" - TWOIAF - The Iron Islands)
  6. Family tree on Serena Stark indicates Osric Umber and Arrana Stark as ancestors of House Cerwyn and Robard Cerwyn and Aregelle Stark as ancestors of House Umber. Related entries repeat the mistake. Family tree on House Stark is fine, though.
  7. I was reading the Basilisk Isles entry and I feel that it is missing a mention on the rumors that a corsair from there is the new shrouded lord.
  8. Maggy the Frog's entry states her son is the founder of House Spicer. The article points AFFC's Cersei VIII as source, but I couldn't even find any mention of House Spicer in this chapter. By the way, I don't recall the book confirming this assumption at all (as likely as it seems).
  9. I think this would require that we knew all the ethnic adjectives of Martin's world, which we don't. "Essosi" for instance doesn't exist in the books, and I think it's best not to make up such adjectives if we want awoiaf to be accurate.
  10. Regarding Beric Dondarrio's "appearence and character", is stated in the wiki that Beric "is a dashing but inexperienced young man", and references that suposed support this are AGOT - Eddard XI and ASOS - Jaime IV. Jaime's chapter doesn't mention Beric at all. Eddard's chapter doesn't say nothing like that Beric is dashing but inexperienced. The ones that really disdain Beric are Tywin Lannister, Brynden Tully and Robb Stark, calling him a "lordling":
  11. In a recent thread, @The Twinslayer pointed out some matters about Allyria Dayne that revealed some inconsistencies in several entries of the wiki. Let me quote his words: In deed, in the books, Edric only says that Beric is promised to his aunt, but doesn't say her name. In another moment he say his aunt Allyria told him of Harrenhal, but don't confirm she's a Dayne: However, Allyria Dayne's page on the wiki is based on the app, a semi-canon, the only source that confirms that she's a Dayne and that she's the one berothed to Dondarrion: The problem is that this accurate remark is not reproduced in other entries, such the as the ones of House Dayne, Edric, Arthur and Beric, quoted below: IMHO, it has to be rewritten so the canon and semi-canon coexist with transparency. Something else I noticed is that reference nº 4 of Arthur Dayne's page mention a Davos chapter in ASOS which doesn't mention Ser Arthur at all.
  12. About Wyl of Wyl's acts during the First Dornish War Fawnton entry on the wiki tells us this: Old Oak entry, this: Wyl of Wyl, this: In first place, House Wyl entry makes no mention of this information. I have a feeling that it is relevant enough to be there, despite Yandel's refusal to go into detail. Second, according to Yandel "[the acts of Wyl of Wyl] are infamous enough and still remembered, especially in Fawnton and Old Oak". So it seems to me that it is common knowlodge in the Seven Kingdoms, not just in Fawnton and Old Oak (althought people in those places talk about it with resentment). Third, since this info is based on a sentence in which he refuses to tell us what happened, I think it's best to be considered as a Yandel's remark in all entries, exactly as it is in the Wyl of Wyl's page. Thus, I humbly suggest it goes like this in all entries (including House Wyl): "According to Maester Yandel, the Wyl of Wyl committed infamous deeds which are still remembered, especially in Fawnton and Old Oak, though the maester does not go into detail."
  13. I was looking for some information about mammoths and haven’t found much on the wiki’s entry. So I searched the books and found a few I thought would be nice to have there. Rattleshirt’s armor has great bones of mammoths in it. AGOT – Jeor Mormont said that Cotter Pyke wrote about mammoths in the east. AFFC – Sam tells Jon that he read stories of the Others riding corpses of mammoths and other animals. ADWD – Jon notices that some wildling gave a toy mammoth made of actual mammoth hair as part of the treasure lost to the NW. Quotes:
