  1. 9, it was pretty good TV. The flying dragon added a +1. Previously we were speculating if it might be too early for Dany to fly in this episode, but what the hell, as long as it works.

Took a point off for Braavos, I can't believe they are going to build up Arya's arc for so long just so she can kill a super duper minor character that no one remembers. My unsullied was asking me, who is that man? (Meryn Trant). I had to tell him it's been 5 years and you wouldn't know him anymore, but he's the royal bodyguard and he is one of those who were nasty to her and her father.

It's probably going to end up with her going blind at the end of the season and then waiting for 9 months again, but that is just going to piss a lot of people off.

Why are people taking points off for killing of Shireen? She is a really nice girl but she is useless as an heir. I'm not sure if she could give birth to continue the line or if greyscale kills early. Saying why is Stannis killing off his heir is really not a valid reason since she is only good as marriage bait to gain an alliance. I doubt she is fertile. She can't be a viable heir and he is probably banking on having other kids. Of course I'm pissed at show Stannis but I've accepted that he is a bad guy in the show and he killed her for a reason that made sense to him at that time. Hate him for killing his own daughter, but don't hate him for gratuious killing, since it still made sense to the plot.

Another point off for Ellaria. Really dislike her. Why is the mistress of a deceased brother even invited to a meeting... doesn't make sense, and what a bitch. I only liked Doran showing his power at last.

  2. Interesting idea about dragons and greyscale.

Wonder if Jorah might also pull a Typhoid Mary... It would be just as serious and much less gross epidemic to portray than bloody flux. The inability to save the large group of civilians from the flux was an important lesson from the books.

If Drogon gets Greyscale, wouldn't it make his armor stronger? Or maybe he'll get too heavy to fly. LOL.

  3. Jorah? Maybe he'll get eaten by Drogon in the pits. But it doesn't seem to be time for a flying Dany yet. Plus they're not going to waste the Greyscale plotline.

The battle was shaky and unclear at parts. I couldn't make out who was fighting whom since they all seem to be the same colour. However, I would say it's still better than the 2nd Transformer movie battles.

  4. 10 straight. Superbly enjoyable, great action and suspense. Hardhome is the best action sequence of the series, even better than Baywater or the Wall and even some zombie movies. I haven't given a 10 in a long while.

We all need monsters vs humans!

Enjoyed the to and fro between Tyrion and Dany as well.

  5. 5, the lowest I ever gave for any GoT episode. I don't think the cherography for the fight scenes and the whole battle are very good. Good enough for a low budget TV I guess. But even Xena was better TV, sorry. And minus 1 point for killing Grenn and Pyp.

I only liked the scythe dropping from the wall thingy. That was cool.

Why kill them off? Did the actors quit or something?

This link clearly shows missing stone in sansas necklace!!!!

Thanks for this. I was looking hard in the show at the part where QoT plucked the crystal, but the TV did not show it clearly. So the years old "mystery" is solved then. Read a GRRM interview and he (kinda) confirmed it's QoT as well.

On reflection, it's really funny how GRRM decided to reveal the plot to the reader through Littlefinger's conversation to Sansa in the books. But as readers, we did not really believe Littlefinger and it became a mystery to be speculated on for years instead. Hah. I'm glad I'm getting some closure on this issue! *tears up*

  7. I think Davo's dungeon must be one of the nicest I ever saw. Well lit, cosy, warm, nice goaler, he looks well fed and clean, well-groomed, his clothes look clean too. The service must be great. One might be forgiven for thinking that he was just having a nice rest. I'm surprised they don't charge him rent.

I love the ending scene, Cersei went to laugh at Tyrion and never saw it coming to her too. So damn satisfying.

    I love Jamie.

  8. It does look odd for Littlefinger to show up everywhere in the TV, lol.

But it's actually plausible geographically, but of course they can't show that on TV unless they use the Indiana Jones method to show the audience him travelling by drawing a line on the map.

He went to Renly's camp first. I assume it started in the vicinity of the Stormlands area and they are proceeding towards Kings Landing. It's not too far from the Riverlands where Harrenhal is. Plus Littlefinger is smart enough to talk to Tywin who can see the big picture instead of going back to Kings Landing and talking to the insensible idiot Cersei who will probably block every suggestion. Strategically it is a good move. Always talk to the boss if you want to get anything done.

In the books, I think he did do some travelling off-camera, from what I remember of Tyrion's pov chapter. Foe example, how did he manage to get the Kettleblacks from the Fingers? Can anyone remind me when do the Kettleblack brothers appear in the books?

  9. 7. It was a pretty meh episode. Nothing much happens, or rather, nothing big happens.

The highlight of the show was the wolves and seeing the little bastard Joffery getting slapped again. Woohoo!

Arya + Tywin is always a pleasure. As mentioned, the whole Armory Lorch sequence should have been coordinated better. It's a sloppy execution but I can still suspend my disbelief for a while since it's TV.

Yigritte was good. Much better than expected. TV Jon Snow is a wuss. It's better that he just let her go, like in the books. So now TV Jon Snow can't make good decisions. He can't even tie her up properly. Geez.

Theon is getting quite detestable, but that's good, it's just like in the books. The whole winterfell conquest was meh. Not much drama. Nor is the escape.

Dany's storyline. Still meh. Dragons got stolen... yeah, I don't buy it but it's ok since I don't care much for her storyline.

Can't really remember anything else that went on. It is a good transitional episode, that's all.

  10. 9. I have no complaints about this episode.

    - Plus now it is logical that Littlefinger has a purpose for going to Renly's camp. He brought the Tyrells to the Lannisters. I wasn't pleased at how come he went there to talk to Cat in the earlier episode, but now I'm appeased.

    - Arya + Tywin + Jaqen. Love all the Harrenhal scenes. + Gendry shirtless, oh my god.

    - Brienne + Catelyn was touching.

    - Tyrion making fun of Lancel is always fun to watch.

    - Dany + dragon. Ehh, seem to be a lot of talking for her storyline and not much action, but it's ok for me. I like that they explain the motivations and deliberations behind the characters. Not bored - yet.

  11. I give it a 7.

    - I really missed the Renly and his peach scene. I really wanted to see that but it wasn't in the show. Now when he dies he'll just be remembered as a gay arse who wanted to play with some power. This scene wasn't long enough and there wasn't enough character development for Stannis as well. This is my major complaint.

    - The shadow baby was great. Very creepy.

    - Didn't like Dany much. Way to shoot your mouth off. Very clever, not.

    - Littlefinger's dialogues. None too subtle, but I suppose they have to dumb it down for TV. A tad disappointed at his storyline for now.

    - Like Margery very much.

    - The direwolf is great.

    - How come the silent sisters are allowed to talk? Heh.

    - The whole Joffrey + whore scene was so irrelevant. What's the point, we already knew he is a sicko. The Sansa scene was great thou.

    - I don't mind the Arya arc. Saves time and gives more prominence to important characters. The Tywin actor rocks. The Mountain was more like a sapling.

  12. Ros, sucks. When are they killing her off? What a waste of time. Why do we need to know about this character? Stop giving her air time. Who did this actress fuck to get on the show?

How is Stannis out of character? People forget that in the books we see Stannis through Davos' POV, not Stannis's own POV. We will never be able to know what exactly Stannis feel or think, just what Davos thinks of him. You are reading Davos' guesses and perceptions. Just like any 2nd hand information, it may or may not be accurate.
