Wake the Dragon II (Birth of Dragons)
Here's Looking At You, Kid replied to Sydney Mae's topic in General (ASoIaF)
Well, in a world where most of the people don't read nor write, stories are one way to convey information from one generation to the one following. The story must have been told a thousand or more times around campfires and other gatherings. The one doing the telling would add his or her own touches to make the story more interesting. It goes without saying it's easier to keep an audience if the story is catchy. -
The Bloodriders
Here's Looking At You, Kid replied to Aline de Gavrillac's topic in General (ASoIaF)
Dany had three girls looking after her needs until Doreah died. Same thing could happen to one of the Bloodriders and she will be left with two. Which is perfect if they are to ride dragons. It's a match made in heaven because they already are good riders. Good ability to ride horses is a pre requisite to riding dragons. Falling off a dragon isn't like falling off a horse. -
They don't own slaves. That looks like progress to me. The Meerenese, Qartheen, and Volantines have more culture. They live elegantly, bathe more, are generally more educated, and such. But underneath they are more cruel in my opinion. So take your pick. What do you consider more advanced? Elegant living with slavery or less- educated but no slavery.

The Targaryens have Greek sounding names. The author used the Greek gods as his inspiration for the Valyrian dragon lords.

Essos is nearly vacant in many places. I'd go there instead. -
I have always thought Arya will die in the riverlands.

The Summer Isles will become valuable real estate when winter hits Westeros and Bran's wights start killing people. Maybe Dorne and the southern part of the Reach will remain unfrozen. -
Wake The Dragon I (Azor Ahai)
Here's Looking At You, Kid replied to Sydney Mae's topic in General (ASoIaF)
This is a coming of age and accepting your role moment for a person of Dany's lofty stature. There were only three choices. Go to Vaes Dothrak, sell the eggs and go with Jorah, or take up where Viserys left and take back Westeros from the usurpers. She will need to become the Mother of Dragons, Mhysa, and Azor Ahai before she reaches Westeros. She became Mother of Dragons and Azor Ahai by the end of the book. She becomes Mhysa two books later. -

He reserves the right to change his mind. I have little interests in Westeros because most of the characters I like are in the East. That will obviously shift when Dany and friends go to Westeros. -
Tell me where you want the author to take the story. Which place or places would you like the characters to visit. Mine Asshai Five Forts

The Fallen Commander
Here's Looking At You, Kid replied to The Gizzard of Oz's topic in General (ASoIaF)
Robb was not lacking in smarts when it comes to battles but he was not the right person to rule others. Jon has some leadership qualities but he was also not fit to rule other folk. Those deficits were really their downfalls. The act of treason happened because Jon is a more emotional man compared to the other men on that wall. The other men left their families and lovers behind and they were able to carry on and accepted the rules of the watch. Jon is simple guy but he was not pragmatic. He acts on destructive feelings. -
Direwolves vs Lions
Here's Looking At You, Kid replied to Moiraine Sedai's topic in General (ASoIaF)
The sigils rank the families in order of power hierarchy. Power usually determine social and political rank in any place. Smaller houses can still punch above their weight with magic. The Reeds are destitute and lack what is considered formal education but their magic allows them to survive in the tough environs of the swamp. -
Bran is howling at the moon. That might be instinct for a wolf bonded little Stark boy but it sure looks like lunacy to the average person in Westeros. Likewise, to somebody like Bran who has tasted human flesh it is acceptable to have a cannibal little brother. That kind of eating habit is not going to be welcomed by most folk.

It is consistent. To have a name of "Rhae" ends badly. If Jon is a "rhaegar II" then yeah he ended badly at the points of many knives. Jon is a failure anyway. He was supposed to guard the wall instead of starting feuds with the Boltons.

The beginning and the end of the Darkness
Here's Looking At You, Kid replied to Kierria's topic in General (ASoIaF)
The Starks' part in the story is the representation of human emotions that cause more harm than good. I am not sure Bran will knowingly bring darkness down on Westeros but he will do it as a reaction to what bad things are happening to the family he cares so much about. There is also that bit with him eventually finding out it was Jaime who broke his body and why. The mind link between the wolves carry emotions like hate and anger. -
The bull run has been great but for how long will it continue? I have taken small chances on some interesting companies. Palantir is an AI company. Celsius markets energy drinks. Celsius is interesting to me. Enough interest to put down a small amount. It is very popular at gyms and fitness centers. The product offering is quite limited to caffeinated fitness drinks. Fitness folks swear by the product. I stay away from too much caffeine but the young folks handle it well. They say it helps them burn more fat and brings on the muscle definition. If I were on the Board of Celsius my suggestion includes diversification of the product line. They need non-caffeinated choices. I could see where a drink that has no caffeine but is loaded with vitamins. A flavored beverage that provides all the daily vitamin requirements would sell. My second suggestion involve branching into the meal replacement market.

I have been browsing the web for information on vintage photography equipment. I might look into getting a Nikonos for fun. I don't scuba, snorkel, or dive. But it would be fun at the beach and the pool. I learned a lot recently. I feel sad for Kodak. I hope they can find a product line to improve their fortunes. -
Jon Snow is likely to go insane
Here's Looking At You, Kid replied to Damsel in Distress's topic in General (ASoIaF)
Jon is the likeliest to be the reincarnation of the Night's King. What Jon has done regarding the disastrous mission to steal "Arya" from her husband will lead to problems that will eventually destroy the order of the Night's Watch. -
Paternity and the questions surrounding such caused damage but not in itself a deal breaker. What to me is the disadvantage for Rhaenyra was her distance from the seat of power. She was away while the Hightowers were in Kingslanding. Viserys was surrounded by Hightower loyalists. It's like a billionaire old man surrounded by relatives of a second wife who knows her children are getting less in the will. The second wife would naturally cause problems and her father was there to back her.

Queen Daenerys/King-Consort Willas Tyrell

The plot points seem to build up the availability of eligible bachelors. He would be one of them. I'm thinking he will make his appearance when the time comes. -

Skill trumps equipment. I agree with you. -
I have to say that I don't like Jon Snow. While we cannot say for sure who his father was; I can say we both don't want him to be Targaryen. I like the Targaryens. I especially like Daenerys. I also like a lot of the Targaryens of the past. The Kingsguards at the Tower would have many reasons to be there other than the theory you believe.

Queen Daenerys/King-Consort Willas Tyrell
Here's Looking At You, Kid replied to Rosesaregold's topic in General (ASoIaF)
The Tyrells have a lot to offer. The Reach is far enough in the South to have a chance of surviving through the winter. It is the North who will starve.
