  1. Gave it a 6. Missandei/Grey Worm was a yawnfest. The Jorah exile lacked emotional impact and felt like Dany being cruel. Shoulda kept in the stuff about him thinking of her as a chick he fancies instead of his queen. The Theon/Bolton stuff was good. Wish we'd see more of Roose this season, he's always a delight. Arya scene was weird. I get what they were aiming for but it did not work for me. Sansa had already revealed her identity by that point, no? The guard didn't think to mention it? They didn't think it was wise to capture her, being Arya Stark and all? Shit writing. Sansa stuff was surprisingly good. I think I prefer her being more overtly manipulative than she is in the books. I take Littlefinger not having a plan with a grain of salt now, they've already wrecked any subtlety he has in the books. The Wall stuff was so-so and seemed to be there to a) remind people about the wildling threat and b) add a bit of extra drama with the whole Gilly thing to give Sam something to do next week. I wish they had spent more time on the duel, and opted for a different pre-duel scene than the Tyrion/Jaime thing. We've already seen plenty of those two together this season. How about Oberyn/Jaime? Would have been cool. Or Cersei visiting Tyrion. The duel itself was fine, I just wish they'd spent longer on it or had a different scene before it instead. Exactly. Why else would they have the shot of the guy wiping down the spear tip? He was obviously coating in poison. Do people expect Oberyn to say "BY THE WAY I POISONED YOU" or something?
  2. 6/10, decent ep with nothing oustanding. Best parts were the Tyrion scenes. Mountain scene, eh. Why was he killing random peasants? Why weren't they just running away? Brienne stuff was pretty good. Bit of forced drama at The Wall, felt like they should have saved it for the next ep or left it out completely. Dany scenes were better than expected. Arya/Hound scenes were disappointingly weak this episode, and I usually enjoy them. That bloke took way too long to die, and the scene vs Rorge and Biter was dumb. The Vale scenes I just find funny. I will say the outside bit was very pretty, though. Dragonstone scene was only good for two reasons. Generally, the ep was way too spread out. They've done a good job at cutting down the multiple stories per ep this season, but took their eye off the ball here.
  3. Gave it an 8. The Stannis and Ramsay scenes were alright. Hizdahr's already completely different to the books and more likeable than Daario, it will be interesting to see how that develops. All the KL scenes were great. The second half of the trial was immensely good. Was this the first ever episode with no children of Ned Stark?
  4. Gave it a 7. Everything was pretty good. I was hoping we'd catch up with the Boltons and/or Yara this ep.
  5. That was a really good episode. First off, the Craster's Keep storyline. They're inserting an original subplot that's actually good? Well played. I certainly did not expect them to capture Bran and co. Dirk was ridiculously entertaining, Locke at the Wall is intriguing, Kit's acting has gone up a couple of notches this season. Right now the stuff at the Wall is more interesting than KL. Speaking of KL, still some good stuff there. Jaime's storyline played out as expected and was solid quality. QOT admitting to her role in Joff's murder was badass. Margarery sneaking into Tommen's room... lucky kid is all I can say. Dany's slave rebellion and crucifiction of the masters could have been a bit more brutal, it felt like they wanted to show how ruthless she can be but at the same time were too scared of turning people against her. Littlefinger scene was alright. His accent continues to make me chuckle. Looking forward to comical antics at The Eyrie next episode. That final scene. Holy shit. I-is that book canon? I kind of have to think so, otherwise why even include it if it doesn't turn out to be important? ETA: Gave it a 9.
  6. Gave it a 7. The Dragonstone scenes felt rushed. Jaime rape scene set his redemption arc back about 2 seasons, well done. Littlefinger's acting is worse than ever, it's hilarious though. I hated how they didn't explain the conspiracy properly like in the books, Unsullied are going to be so confused. The rest was pretty solid, but the ending was a bit of an anti-climax, I thought we were going to see the slaves start killing the masters. It's like they just ran out of time.
  7. Gave it a 10. The Wedding was hella fun, I don't think I've seen that many named characters in a single place on TV before. Led to some nice little interactions, and they played the whodunnit angle well. Marg, Cersei and Tyrion were all great but Joffrey stole the show. A masterful performance. The Dreadfort and Dragonstone scenes were so dark and sinister but in different ways. I worry for that Myranda chick, she'll be hound meat soon too, I'm sure. Either that or they'll make her FakeArya. The Bran scene wasn't much of anything, but whatever. I'm not expecting much there until they reach Bloodraven or Coldhands.
  8. I gave it an 8 on the arbitrary number scale. Pros: First and last scenes Joffrey Joffrey statue Hot ass Ellaria Sand The wildling/Wall scenes were actually really good Cons: Too much relationship drama All the Dany scenes were cringeworthy up until the crucified slave girl Too much Sansa A little exposition heavy
  9. Gave it a 9. Best parts were the Arya scene, Robbwind, Roose Bolton & Walder Frey, the Lannister Team Meeting, and Davos's performance. The parts at and around the Wall were good. Really enjoyed seeing some "old" characters like Balon and Yara, Pyp, Maester Aemon. I'm still not sure about how they're portraying Stannis in the show. They seem to still not have a proper grasp on his character, and I don't think it's an intentional difference from the books. Dany scene was alright, bit of an abrupt way to end it. I did expect Stoneheart but understand their reasons to not include her. All in all it was there to set up next season and did a good job of that, can't wait to see where Yara's arc and Jaime's early arrival in KL go.
  10. Gave it an 8 out of 10. Tyrion was great. His wedding was fun, Sansa was pretty good even. Sam stuff was pretty good. Daario... eh. Underwhelming. Dragonstone was pretty decent, although I could have done without the leech dick.
  11. Gave it a 7. Best parts were Ramsay, Jaime, Dany and naked Talisa. Arya scene was just there to progress the plot and wasn't much of anything for those who have read the book. Jon/Ygritte scenes are just to make later events more upsetting. Tywin/Joff was all set-up for episode 10. Bran scene was boring as always. Mel/Gendry scene was okay for what it was, looking forward to them getting back to Dragonstone. Blackfish continues to be an asshole.
  12. Gave it a 5/10 (ie. average). While not a bad episode it was the weakest of the season so far. There were some really good parts - any scenes involving Lannisters or Boltons, plus Mel and the BwB, as well as LF/Varys and Ros's horrific death scene. Worst parts: Bran scene, Sam scene and the super cheesey final scene.
  13. Decent episode, I gave it a 6. Full of lots of "good" scenes with lots of nice detail, but nothing outstanding. Best parts of the ep were Dragonstone, Jaime's monologue, Roose fucking with Jaime and of course Tywin as always.
  14. Gave it an 8. - Jaime/Brienne stuff was great. Jaime's behanding came out of nowhere, which was nice. - I thought the Riverrun stuff was fairly strong. However I will say that the Blackfish is a total asshole to poor Edmure. - Aw Hot Pie. - Dany's bargaining scene with the slaver was a pretty awesome scene, maybe the best in the ep. Didn't like her "we're not men, gurl powah!" line. - Ramsay stuff was excellent. Point blank arrow execution - wow. - The scenes beyond the wall were all the best so far this season. - The Small Council scene was top tier. I have no problem with Pod and his whores, it's nice to fit in a light-hearted fun scene like that while we're still early in the season. - It's nice to hear the Bear and the Maiden Fair, but the rock version in the credits felt completely out of place. This isn't True Blood. - Iron Bank was mentioned. I think that bodes well, the writers are setting a bit of stuff up for further down the track.
  15. Gave it eight. Really solid if not spectacular episode that delivered in terms of both plot and character. Best parts: - Reeds introduction was great. I'm not particularly a fan of them in the books, but Jojen in particular was excellent. - Lots of focus on House Bolton. - Cat's monologue was really good. Wonderful acting by Michelle Fairley and the claims of supposed "character assassination" have proved quite unfounded. - Queen of Thorns and Margaery are both brilliant. - Nice intro with the BwB and showed Arya's fearlessness. Can't wait to see Beric. Worst part: - Two eps and no sign of Varys!
  16. Good solid episode, gave it a 7/10. Night's Watch scene was a bit lame but to be expected on the budget. Jon's scenes didn't do a right lot for me, apart from the giant which looked fantastic. Not particularly impressed with Mance or Tormund as yet. Robb's scenes were okay. Mainly because of Roose. I'm a bit confused about what happened there though. What's with all the dead Northmen? Dany's scenes were good. The dragons looked great, as did the harpy. The exchange with the slaver was quality and the Unsullied have been set up nicely. Nice to see Barristan. All the King's Landing scenes were awesome apart from the Sansa/Littlefinger one. I did like Ros's final line though. "Watch out for her with him." The Tywin scene was the best of the episode. I also enjoyed the dinner scene. Poor Loras, having to sit there while they all throw veiled insults at one another. The Davos scenes were all great too. Darth Stannis is coming across as really dark. Fair enough, though, his story is quite dark in the books too. Lots of CGI this ep. I wonder how that'll affect the budget.
  17. I just finished Lions too and thought what you mentioned in your spoiler was hilarious every time he did it. Oh Kay, you old trickster!
  18. Gave it a 9. Good stuff: - All the King's Landing scenes were handled especially well. The throne room scene in particular was awesome. Also Tywin's horse pooing. - Maester Luwin - I teared up. What a bro. - Also the scene with Luwin and Theon was brilliant. - Theon's speech was epic. Not sure what to make of what happened after that, though. I suppose with the lack of budget and Reek they couldn't do much else. - The ending was pretty dope. House of the Undying stuff: I was prepared for the House of the Undying to be vastly different from the books. The scene in the Iron Throne room was particularly beautiful and haunting. However, I did want to hear the "Three fires..." prophecy. I love that particular part in the books and missed it on the show. Not so good stuff: - Jon Snow's storyline was completely bungled this season. What should have been his best scene was the most confusing and disappointing. Ah well, hopefully with Mance and Tormund and co next season things will improve for Jonny boy. - I found myself not giving a crap about Robb's scenes. - Brienne giving that guy a "slow death" seemed totally out of character. But unfortunately the writers seem to want to make every character more badass in order to appeal to TV viewers. I didn't have a problem with them doing that with Ned, or Robb, or Stannis, but Brienne? Defeats her whole character. - Stannis strangling Mel, what the hell was that? I really feel like the writers felt they made him too likeable with his heroics at the Blackwater, so let's show him choking a bitch. Also no Davos appearance makes me wonder if they've actually killed him off. - Doreah, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! WHY KHALEESI WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
  19. 10/10 like a motherfucker. Best bits from memory having just finished it: Dat creepy, quiet, tense pre-battle build-up, especially Davos/Matthos and Varys/Tyrion Bronn/The Hound rivalry WILDFIRE EXPLOSION Stannis kicking ass Drunken Cersei Scared Joffrey Scared Hound Cersei and Tommen on the Iron Throne Tyrion cutting legs off Dat ending Rains of Castamere credits Lived up the hype. And there's still an episode left.
  20. I gave it a 6. Would have been a 7 but I really wanted to see Arya kill the guard in cold blood as I think it's a defining character moment for her. Feels like they chose the safe route. And I'm not usually one to complain about differences from the books. Good stuff: - Varys, and lots of him! That last scene with Tyrion was great. - Stannis! - The Winterfell storyline continues to be great, and nice to see Yara again. - The guy that plays Roose is great and I fist-pump at every mention of his bastard. - I think we all saw the Ros/Shae thing coming, but it was still a decent idea. - Good that we're still getting scenes with the rest of the Night's Watch. I think that means we'll end the season on the three horns. - The rest of the Harrenhal stuff was fine. - Jaime/Brienne, hells yeah. Also liked Robb arresting Cat. Bad stuff: - Talisa's story seemed to go on for way too long. - Shae is such a crappy actress.
  21. Gave it an 8. Kind of dragged in the beginning but then the second half became awesome. Good stuff: - That ending. The Theon arc this season has been done amazingly. For a second when they dragged out the miller I thought it was Reek and did a fist pump, then I saw that it was an old man. - Jaime's acting was great, especially in his final scene. And his reaction to Brienne. - I'm liking Talisa more and more, I'll just ignore her shitty intro scene from ep 2. The whole is she/isn't she a Westerling thing is quite intriguing. Looking forward to seeing them at the Crag next episode. I also enjoyed the look Roose Bolton gave her. - Tywin/Arya scenes are always epic. That shot of Harrenhal looked so dope. - I think they've done a good job with Jon & Ygritte. I wonder if we'll see Rattleshirt next week. - The Qarth scenes are very exciting. Loved the coup. Hope we see the Undying next week! - And don't forget about KL. More Sansa/Hound scenes were always a plus. Tyrion had only one scene this week and it was very good. Cersei empathising with Sansa but still being a cold bitch was nicely done. Not so good stuff: - Jaime bludgeoning his cousin to death was a bit jarringly out of character from book-Jaime, who they've played straight so far. - They maybe dragged out the Ygritte/Jon scenes for a bit too long. - No Joffrey!!!!!!!!!!!!! - The Bran & Co scene felt pretty awkward.
  22. Liked this episode. I gave it an 8.5. Yes, I realise that's not on the scale so had to give it an 8 - just didn't quite have that "9 factor" for me. Good stuff: - By the gawds what an opening. I love the shot of Theon's face after executing Rodrik. So intense. - Ramsay Corpsefuckin' Bolton pretty much confirmed! - Love the shake up in Qarth. Makes it much more exciting. - The Harrenhal scenes were all great. - The riot scenes were intense and scary and dope as fuck. Cersei threatening Tyrion! Tyrion steppin' to Joff! Sansa almost gang-raped! The High Septon getting torn to shreds! An old man getting punched! And The Hound finally getting to kick some ass! - Tulisa wasn't as annoying this episode. There's hope yet. Not so good stuff: - Jon Snow scenes are boring yet again. I like Ygritte so far though. - Irri, I hope she's not dead. - Shae sucks. Bring Ros back!
