  1. Gave it an 8. Really solid episode without anything super epic. Good bits: - Everything involving Arya. Tywin and Jaqen are superb. It was also Maisie's best performance this season, I enjoyed her reminiscing about Syrio. - The Winterfell scenes were good. - The Night's Watch scenes were also very strong. - Tyrion's scenes were, as always, gold. Another strong performance from Lena Headey. Glad they gave Bronn a bit more to do than spout one-liners. We're starting the build up to the Blackwater, folks! - Stannis was amazing this episode. I wasn't sure about him at first, but he's getting better and better. - I liked the scene with LF and the Tyrells. Not so good bits: - I was looking forward to Quaithe but her appearance here was a little underwhelming. - The Cat/Brienne scene seemed a bit awkward. - Dagmer. This guy isn't a badass reaver.
  2. I gave it a 7. Good bits: Harrenhal looked dope. Arya's scenes were all good, Tywin was great. All the scenes involving Renly and his camp were excellent. Tyrion was great as always. Joffrey being a dick is always a positive. Bad bits: Jeyne's scene was rubbish. I can already tell I'm not going to enjoy her character. The Qarth stuff seemed a bit too cartoonish after the ultra-seriousness of Dany's storyline so far.
  3. Forgot to mention this scene but yes, it was really good. I'm glad they've keeping some focus on Bran - he's been in more eps than Robb so far this season - while managing to keep it interesting despite the lack of stuff currently going on at Winterfell. Tremendous job on the warging.
  4. Gave that sucka a 10. Good bits: - Tyrell/Cat scenes. - Sansa scenes. - Tyrion's scenes. - Arya's scenes. - Greyjoy scenes. ETA: Bran's scenes. Hell, even Jon's scenes were good thanks to Mormont's speech. Bad bits: - I guess the fight scene at the end was a bit underwhelming, but understandable due to budget constraints. - Sam's scene with Gilly was a bit cheesey.
  5. Quick thoughts before I read others' opinions on this ep. Easily the best episode of season 3 so far for me. It was almost note perfect, maybe the fight at the end was a little underwhelming. It had so many great emotional moments - Mormont with Jon Snow, Theon burning the letter, the whole scene with Balon and Theon, Sansa, Ayra's chat with Yoren, Cersei's scene with Tyrion. Speaking of Tyrion, I think this was his best ep yet. The way he dealt with the councillors was dealt with amusingly and cleverly without being too complex for the casual viewer to follow. Good to see Renly & co. I love Natalie Dormer. Cracked up when she started talking about bringing her brother in. "Or you can turn me over, pretend I'm him". Also, Brienne was pretty spot on (and looked hella rank which is correct). Also loved Cat's facial expressions during her palaver with Renly. I prefer show-Cat to book-Cat. Best scene: Theon's baptism. When the priest says "...but rises again, harder and stronger" I had goosebumps.
  6. Haha yes. 9/10 but very close to giving up watching? So a TV shows need to be a perfect 10/10 to be watchable?
  7. I think they left the option of Shireen open on purpose. They can introduce her down the line if they decide she is too important to leave out. ETA: There was a nice touch in the scene where the Gold Cloaks come to fetch Gendry. When Yoren has his knife to the dude's thigh, you can see all the Nights Watch recruits slightly out of focus in the background, slowly picking up their weapons and moving towards the Gold Cloaks. I thought that was well done.
  8. + Tyrion's scenes with Cersei and Janos Slynt were both amazing. + Pyke was awesome. Balon was spot on and Yara is an improvement over Asha. + Jaqen seems perfect. + Sallador Saan is great. "I don't want to rape her, I want to fuck her." Indeed. - No Joffrey. He was the best part of ep 1. Also no Robb who was also great. - No Renly, so he's only going to be in 2 eps this season, by the looks of it? Nobody will care when he dies. - They seem to be just throwing LF random crap scenes at this stage to give Aiden Gillan something to do. It's not working. - Mel promising Stannis a son. This doesn't jive with me. I'm fine with them fucking since it obviously happened in the books, but Stannis wanting to father a bastard boy makes zero sense. I'm giving it a solid 6.
  9. Jaqen was obviously the hooded fellow. The other two were Rorge & Biter. I gave it 10/10.
  10. I gave it a 9. I was glad they didn't show the battle scenes as they would have been crap anyway. Not sure what to make of Shae, we'll see how her character develops. I think they've basically made her smarter and more inscrutable because if she was played like she is in the books, it'd be incredibly obvious she doesn't love Tyrion. They want to make the audience wonder. That's my guess anyway. They lose a point in the aftermath to the Whispering Wood being too quick. They didn't really give any explanation. It just seemed like Robb and a few dudes rode off then came back with Jaime Lannister. The final scene was handled very well. I really liked The Twins and Lord Frey.
  11. I gave it an 8. Very good for the most part, but the two coolest scenes (Arya and the stableboy, and Grey Wind and the Greatjon) were disappointing for me.
  12. Definitely 10 for me. So many "holy shit" moments, even though I already knew what would happen. The Targaryens owned this one.
  13. I guess because it's a (possible) male heir for Viserys. That seems important in determining whether to support a king. Also, if Viserys is killed during the invasion then the Targaryen sympathisers can still rally around the new kid as a candidate for the throne.
  14. 9 from me. Not quite perfect but still very enjoyable, and a big improvement over last week.
  15. Loved it from start to finish. Best episode yet by a mile. 10.
