Poll: Is the House with the Red Door in Dorne?

The ones I've seen seem honestly too big to be moved in and out of doors, perhaps they are wrapped or otherwise covered in the winter though...... In regards to ASOIAF, it's been summer for nine years... To me the lemon tree in a non tropical climate is not a problem in any way.

Poll: Is the House with the Red Door in Dorne?

I live in Wilmington DE, which is North of parts of southern NJ, cultivated lemon trees grow here, specifically on some of the old Dupont Estates that are now tourist attractions, the fruit dies in winter but not the tree. Also, NJ is a bit more of an agricultural powerhouse than those not from this region may realize, Jersey corn and tomatoes are quite delicious and sought after actually. I swear I'm not joking

Sex and stuff - How different is Dorne?

Haha it does seem time consuming

Sex and stuff - How different is Dorne?

Agreed his physical condition is a factor, I was thinking more in terms of companionship than lust The line I remember about Doran was that his marriage was the one thing that he did that was out of his cautious character, perhaps he regretted the way thier relationship turned and did not want to repeat his mistakes. I would agree though I highly doubt he is capable of intercourse(I don't know much about gout)and even if he is, it has to be painful

Top 5. Who will die in The Winds of Winter

No order.... Barristan Selmy Asha Greyjoy Ramsy Bolton (Snow) Tommen Baratheon( Hill) (F)Aegon Targaryen BOUNS #6 Cersie Lannister P.S. It's way more than 5 people, my low ball estimate is at least 3 times the names I've listened, I have not even touched the Nights watch, characters in the Vale, whatever Tyrells die before Cersie, whoever dies in the battle of old town and the situation in the riverlands(TBWOB), and the the situation in well yea you get the idea... Winds is gonna be an absolute bloodbath.

Looking North: What did Bran see?

"Finally he looked north. He saw the Wall shining like a blue crystal, and his bastard brother Jon sleeping alone in a cold bed, his skin growing pale and hard as the memory of all warmth fled from him. And he looked past the Wall, past endless forests cloaked in snow, past the frozen shore and the great blue-white rivers of ice and the dead plains where nothing grew or lived. North and north and north he looked, to the curtain of light at the end of the world, and then beyond that curtain. He looked deep into the heart of winter, and then he cried out, afraid, and the heat of his tears burned on his cheeks." So what does everyone think? Did Bran see the army of the dead?the Night King? An ice dragon? Personally I think it could be one of two things. Really I think it most likely is a metaphor, Bran looking to the North symbolizes him looking to the future, accepting his fate and that his road ahead will be very difficult, and different than the life he once imagined. He accepts this and decides to be brave, even though he is afraid, he decides to fly. So to add a little tinfoil to option one, I think the little bit about seeing Jon growing cold and hard could be Bran looking into the ACTUAL future, not a metaphoric one. What I hope he saw is some giant Lovecraftian Cuthulu squid monster thing, but probably not unfortunately. This is the first topic I've made btw, thanks for reading and very interested to hear what others think of this passage.

    For the record... and posterity!

1.) I firmly believe R+L=J, the only possible wrinkle I would consider possible is Jon having a twin, but I don't think that likely 2.) Tyrion is Tywins son 3.)Bran ate Jojen, I'm honestly 100 percent convinced of this, and will be totally shocked if Jojen is still alive in Winds 4.) Not that confident on this one but I'll say Stannis because I do think he is going to win the battle at the crofters village at least 5.) The house and tree are both in Bravos, Dani is who she thinks she is 6.) I think the sailors wife is Tysha, and Lannna is Tyrions daughter 7.) I think Theon lives, in fact i think he will survive until the end 8.) I think Aegon is fake, but its likely we will never know for sure 9.)Reago is dead 10.) Jamie is the Valonquar

Looking North: What did Bran see?

Haha yea I have read that Martin is a bit of an old hippie at heart. But, like I mentioned earlier, an explanation like this is much more likely and I agree that the important thing is not so much what specifically he saw, but rather the things he does after he sees it. It is a fantasy series though so who knows, but I will say I also think the Night King as depicted in the show will not appear in the books. Thanks for replying

Looking North: What did Bran see?

Interesting, thanks for replying, there are definitely a few pieces of the overall puzzle still missing, and some Malevolent force manipulating the Others and Humans into conflict is definitely something to be considered

The house with the red door and the lemon tree

Hi there...so I was honestly wondering what makes you sure sure Brandon was a Skinchanger, personally I have never taken the lines that he and Lyanna liked to ride horses as evidence they were skinchangers(I know you did not use this argument, it's just honestly the only explanation I've read). To me, this seems roughly the same as saying Ramsey is a skinchanger because he likes dogs. In the end that doesn't really matter though, and the younger generation of Starks(and Jon) are, where exactly they got this trait isn't all that important I suppose. I also want to say that while I don't think Jon is Bradons son, I actually do think it would fit with some of the themes of the books if the uber honorable Ned had in fact stolen his nephews birthright. I have always assumed that is exactly what happened to Aruther Dayne. Meera training with Summer and the reed kids telling Bran stories about thier parents happen in the same chapter, The Reeds are surprised at how little Bran knows and stop short of telling him the whole story though. But yes, Meera and Summer and the net, the greatest, most dangerous knight in the 7k was bested by a mudman with a net and a frog spear.

Looking North: What did Bran see?

Interesting, so either of you have any more specific thoughts on what this force might be? The deep ones from the world book? Squishers? Aliens? The Trees? Maybe a giant squid monster? Haha

Sex and stuff - How different is Dorne?

In regards to Doran and him not having a paramore.....It is mentioned in either an Arrianne or Aero chapter, I'll try to find it, that Prince Doran and Lady Mellayrio married for love. considering they seem to be currently estranged, perhaps Doran is simply heartbroken, and has no wish to take a paramore. and with 3 teenage children, he doesn't really need to marry again either.

Who were the Tyrells involved in the Purple Wedding?

I think Olena was the only Tryll in on whatever poisoning plot may or may not been affected at Joffreys wedding. She may or may not have been working with others(Little Finger and Tywin are popular choices) and the target may or may not have been Joffreys(Tryion is a another popular candidate.) But I think you may already know all this, because you mentioned the pie. In my opinion you started the wrong topic if you didn't want to discuss conspiracies involving pie and/or wine and/or lemon cream(on top of the pie). But that's just my two cents

    Dorne and Maesters...post Aegon

Aegon did rule 8 kingdoms and conquer 7 technically, The North, The Kingdom of Mountain and Vale, The Stormlands, The West and the United kingdom of Harren the Black(the iron islands and the riverlands). The eighth would be his own kingdom in Blackwater Bay before the conquest and the mainland territories counted as the crown lands after the conquest, though, niether Aegon nor any of his forebears ever sytled themselves as Kings before the conquest, simply the lord's of Dragonstone. Either way though Aegon ruled 7 kingdoms without dorne, as he himself separated the riverlands from the iron isles, not counting Blackwater Bay and the crownlands. Dorne doesn't care, The Dragon conquered 7 kingdoms but not the Principality of Dorne. Dorne has known no kings since Nymeria sent the last of them to the wall in golden fetters. They do not care what Aegon sytles himself or what the faith calls him. "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken"

Things made out of Blue Crystal

Great topic and thanks for reading my thread, glad I could inspire one of your own even if it's in a small way, that's what these forums are all about in my opinion. I definitely did not realize the blue crystal metaphor was so prevalent, and there definitely could be something there relating to ice magic. The blue crystal metaphor brings to my mind the pale blue eyes of the wights, anyone else see this connection?

Yup this has always been my problem with these theories. Viserys has neither the temperament or intelligence to be part of any said conspiracies.

Looking North: What did Bran see?

Thanks for for replying. I definitely think this is a possibility. I have read theories/discussion on this board about whether or not Brynden Rivers is the 3 eyed crow from Brans coma vision and Dreams or not and I definitely think there could be something there.

    Jon Arryn's opinion of Lyanna

Your probably right about this to be honest, I was going mostly from memory. I would definitely say that I think Robert and Jon Arryn at least arrived in Kings Landing before Ned left for Storms End, which was most likely while negotiations with the Lannisters were on going with Jon Arryn and Robert.
