  1. 7/10- I really liked it, felt like an improvement over the last 2 seasons. Loved seeing all the characters together, like in the war council scene, about to fight together. Like, REALLY loved it. Teared up during Brienne's knighting, the best moment of the episode. Loved the use of Jenny of Oldstones too. I think what's dragging this story currently is basically Cersei (thank god they didn't go over to King's Landing) and Dany's weird characterization (her always thinking about the iron throne is annoying, this is bigger than that, it's just such a weird digression; and Clarke's acting doesn't help, although I'm chalking that up to writing and direction mostly).
  2. Yes, like Yawn! I used to read it like that at first but then during re-reads I thought maybe it's supposed to be John idk
  3. I also pronouce it Ironwood. But btw what about Yohn Royce which for some reason I pronounce John...?
  4. I googled that (I'm not very familiar with Lotr) and yeah, that is sort of like what I thought. Thanks!
  5. In this blog post Martin wrote this: ''Speaking of Valyria... right from the start I wanted the Targaryens, and by extension the Valryians from whom they were descended, to be a race apart, with distinctive features that set them apart from the rest of Westeros, and helped explain their obsession with the purity of their blood. To do this, I made a conventional 'high fantasy' choice, and gave them silver-gold hair, purple and violet eyes, fine chiseled aristocratic features. That worked well enough, at least in the books (on the show, less so).'' Does this mean they're a race apart like being white or black, or like elves vs men? I think it's probably the first one but since they have specific ''fantasy'' features like the purple eyes does this mean they're just a different fantasy race like elves? Or from this book, like the children of the forest?
  6. Thank you so much! I should have used google, i always miss things when I use the search bar here...
  7. Is there a thread here about things we wish had or hadn't happened, or things we would have changed about the books? I remember reading one once but I can't find it. Should I start one?
  8. Oh! This is such a duh moment from me. I completely forgot this scene So yeah this makes more sense, that he knows.
  9. And I appreciate your and Lord Varys answers! Doesn't make sense for him to not know, I guess, but for some reason that was the impression I got from the book.
  10. You're not alone. In my translation they also mention the part about Jace being near 15 and a man grown. It's the portuguese edition.
  11. Does Stannis know that it was Rattleshirt who was burned and not Mance?
  12. I'm not sure if this is the right place but: ''As the salmon was being served, Ser Axell Florent had entertained the table with the tale of a Targaryen princeling who kept an ape as a pet. This prince liked to dress the creature in his dead son's clothes and pretend he was a child, Ser Axell claimed, and from time to time he would propose marriages for him.'' - Davos II, ADWD Who do you guys think this may have been, if it's a true story?
  13. I think ''Castle Rock'' is also the name of a place in a Stephen King book. Anyway it may be a play on that name, yes.
  14. Does it say in the valonqar prophecy that Tommen and Myrcella will die before Cersei? It makes it seem like that, but there may be a loophole. If not, could a fake death still fullfill the prophecy? If someone fakes one of their deaths - and Cersei believes in it - would that still count?
