  1. “Even if the boy does live, he will be a cripple. Worse than a cripple. A grotesque. Give me a good clean death.” “Then blame those precious gods of yours, who brought the boy to our window and gave him a glimpse of something he was never meant to see.” Jaime is just as much a narcissistic as Cersei. He just became what he mocked the most and is bitter about it now. He still refuses to look at his actions and take responsability, he keeps blaming everything but himself. "It was that white cloak that soiled me, not the other way around." Jaime went to the Kingsguard because he wanted to sleep with his sister, and ignored the vow of celibacy. The lack self awareness potrait in the quotes above shows how far he is from true redemption. Jaime is not on a path to redemption. He is on path of identity. And he has chosen to be Tywin and not Ned Stark to reclaim his identity. He is breaking every oath he ever swore to Catelyn. He even has no plan as to what to do when Brienne does have Sansa. Where would he hide her with Joffrey’s murder charges on her head? a charge he should be trying Cersei to talk out of?

By 281 Jaime is only 15, never saw combat, not even took places in tournaments. I doubt that he could face Robert in his prime. And about Jaime being one of the greatest in history, the same could be said about Robert. "The hammer was forged by Donal Noye while he was still the smith at Storm’s End, and Robert’s prowess with it was legendary. In tournaments he was never much for jousting, preferring a melee where he could bludgeon his opponents senseless." By 281 Robert is at the top 3. Only Dayne and Barristan I see on top of him.

Should never be above Robert in any list. He was a fine jouster, but he died at his first real combat. he has no feats in battle, no experience and no kills. This logic is deeply flawed. Howland Reed was brought there, and Lyanna had to step in to defend him against other squires younger than him. Eddard himself was nothig but average acording to GRRM himself and got easily beat by Royce together with Ser Rodrik in a sparing match. Should be way above. Even wounded Robert Killed 6 men and then beat Jon Connington with a sword. Killed several other nobles during his Rebellion including Rhaegar. He has more feats than anyone other than Barristan in this list and GRRM himself called him legendary.
  4. No. He was already at White Habor after Robb traded Willem for him. Greatjon is a hostage.

Yes it does. Robert was taller, stronger, more experient, had more kills, had more feats, and he won in the end. Rhaegar was not at disavantage, he was the one with higher numbers, with a fresh army, while Robert was fighting constantly over a year with his castle under siege in the break of falling. Robert was never a jouster, he liked to fight at melee, even wounded he killed 6 men and beat Jon Connington without his war hammer.

It wasn't a melee, it was a joust. Seventeen and new to knighthood, Rhaegar Targaryen had worn black plate over golden ringmail when he cantered onto the lists. Long streamers of red and gold and orange silk had floated behind his helm, like flames. Two of her uncles fell before his lance, along with a dozen of her father’s finest jousters, the flower of the west.

So I would sugest Randyl Tarly for you. He did kill one of Robert's bannerman in single combat at Ashford, is regarded as a very capable comander and had a valyrian steel sword.

I would not put Brandon here. We know close to nothing about his abilities, he lost to Rhaegar on a just and beat a pretty young Littlefinger. not worthy of the top 10. Lyn Cobray or Oberyn should take his place here. Oberyn at 16 already was capable of holding his own against Lord Yronwood and served as sellsword for a while. And Cobray killed a kingguard and had a valyrian stell weapn. Gregor Cleagane should be present in the top 10. Even young age he was massive and brutal. I would replace Hightower with him. So probably something like this. 1-Arthur Dayne 2-Robert Baratheon 3-Barristan Selmy 4-Gregor Clegane 5-Jason Mallister 6-Brynden Tully 7-Smilling Knight 8-Oberyn Martell 9-Lyn Cobray 10- Rhaegar Targeryan. Honorable Mentions : Kevan Lannister(acording to Jaime "Kevan Lannister had once been a stout man with a sword") Rickard Stark (war veteran and was confident or desperate enough to request trial by combat himself against Aerys Kingsguard) Yohn Royce Jorah Mormont Jaime Lannister Balon Greyjoy

    Robert Baratheon a Possible Reinterpretation

The way I saw is Robert is the hero that refused the call, got dragged into his journey against his will, never failed during his misson, got his major victory and then went on to fall from his grace. He had the potential to be the best king of westeros, he was young, brave, capable, had a lot of mercy and was the charisma in person, he was the best of Daeron the Good and Daemon Blackfyre combined but ended up being Aegon IV. Robert had the treasury full, a kingdom at peace and the support of the great families. But he was to lazy to work it out, he sat on the mess made by Aerys and dragged the same corrupt court, letting scum like Varys, Pycelle and Jaime keeping their positions, he rewarded the worst people like Tywin with a royal marriage without even taking his time to choose the bride, he was lazy and let wrong appoitments like Borus Blunt, Meryn Trent, Peter Baelish and Janos Slynt in key positions but did not care to watch them. He did not fostered his "heir" not take notice to purge him from sucession even though he knew the boy was trouble. Robert let a old men, passed his prime to rule his kingdom for him but did not offer his suport or cared about his advice. Robert went paranoid with the possibility of being deposed by Targ loyalists, lost sign of the present and started to live on the past, idealizing Lyanna but not paying attention to his actual wife and her unfaithfulness, he put his kingdom into heavy debt and refused to take any kind of responsability.

    Jaime Lannister.

    Robert's Kingsguard

Robert Kingsguard it was suposed to be corrupt, and Jaime the kingslayer is the best exemple of this. If Robert was worried about morals, at the very least he should have dismissed Jaime.
  12. The Tyrells like the Tullys were rewarded and eleveted to their position by the Targeryans Olenna herself tells us that the Tyrells claim over Highgarden Always has been shaky. During the dance of the dragons the Reach was Split between the factions, during the first blackfyre rebellion the reach once again was split, as most of Daemon Support came from there. But during Robert Rebellion, for all we know they were a united force, behind Mace, this does not happen to the Tullys who had to fight rebbel vassals, Jon Arryn and Robert also had to fight their own vassal. Once again when Renly crowed himself, the reach once again came united. But once Renly died we have several lords changing sides to Stannis like Mullendore, Fossoway, and Florents. Laswell Peake also tell us that the Golden company still has many friends in the reach. So how much power does Mace actually holds of his vassals, compared to other lords ? Who are those friends Laswell speaks of ? Is Mace really a oaf lord like Cersei paints him or is he a capable lord that putted his family as the most powerfull faction ?

    Is Asha pregnant?

Between the two, I think Theon is more likely to be killed. The northems hate his guts for his betrayal, and Asha can be married of to someone else in Stannis camp.

Robert Screwed Up After The Greyjoy Rebellion

He did punished House Connington though. he took part of their land "Robert Baratheon had completed the destruction of the griffins after the war. Cousin Ronald was permitted to retain his castle and his head, but he lost his lordship, thereafter being merely the Knight of Griffin’s Roost, and nine-tenths of his lands were taken from him and parceled out to neighbor lords who had supported Robert’s claim." Robert should have done something similar to Balon and named someone else to rule the IB.

Robert Screwed Up After The Greyjoy Rebellion

Not really. Robert rebelled after the Targeryans "kidnap" his bride, killed his in laws and asked for his head. He had all the reasons and right for his rebellion. "The battle screamed about Lord Robert and Prince Rhaegar both, and by the will of the gods, or by chance-or perhaps by design-they met amidst the shallows of the ford. The two knights fought valiantly upon their destriers, according to all accounts. For despite his crimes, Prince Rhaegar was no coward" The masters even describe the Targeryans actions as a crime Balon did not have any of this reasons. He even went on to fight in Robert's name at the battle of the Mander. He rebel for nothing and payed the price. I do agree that Robert was soft on Balon, the very least he should have named another Ironborn as lord paramount instead of Balon and take part of his lands.
  17. There is also lord Merryweather, but would you consider them loyal to the Tyrells ? They were litereally in bed with Cersei Taena also revelead Senelle as a spy and once Cersei was imprisoned they flee from the city. Could this be the house as a whole or only Taena?
  18. I would put the Rowans in this group as well.
  19. I agree very much with this. Balon is a complete idiot. I agree, he even mentions Mance Ryder as a potention ally later on but... The north and the Iron Islands in theory are "independent" he does not have to protect any of them. Also, I don't think he was in any condition of sending help to the northems or to Balon anyway, and reconizing Balon would be the same of giving him half of the kingdom.
  20. I think this was more of a reference that the Tyrells keeped the siege at Storm's end even after KL fall, and only lift it when Eddard showed up with his army.

  22. Tywin mocked Balon proposition and said that it was better doing nothing because balon was idiot that alread had given then all that he could. Tywin even says that they should Balon suffer a northem winter and that the northems themselfs would kick him out of there. "King Balon’s longships are occupied for the nonce,” Lord Tywin said politely, “as are we. Greyjoy demands half the kingdom as the price of alliance, but what will he do to earn it? Fight the Starks? He is doing that already. Why should we pay for what he has given us for free?” “Balon Greyjoy thinks in terms of plunder, not rule. Let him enjoy an autumn crown and suffer a northern winter. He will give his subjects no cause to love him. Come spring, the northmen will have had a bellyful of krakens.” Mace also underestimate the Golden Company too much. "What victories has he ever won that we should fear him? He could have ended Robert's Rebellion at Stoney Sept. He failed. Just as the Golden Company has always failed. Some may rush to join them, aye. The realm is well rid of such fools." The way I see, Mace is about to bite something bigger than his mouth, and he will pay for it.
  23. I doubt that the Reach Lords want independence. The Reach seems to be the regeion that benefit the most out of the unification of Westeros. No more Ironborn raids, Stormlords, Westerlands wars also ceased and when they fought the dornish they had more allies, and now even that is out of picture.
  24. Mace is more greedy than competent. He wants his daughter to be queen, he turns his second son into a great lord, he wants himself and his friends in the small council and he still wants more. But at the same time he took Balon's offer about keeping the Iron lands and the North without too much thinking, he was ignored by several of his bannermen that sided with Stannis.
  25. I agree, but he had more than enough reasons to stab Mace in the back and haven't acted on it so far. If he came to change sides the Tyrells are screwed... he holds Margaery, her consins and the city. The only think they have against him is a sacred oath sweared by him... a guy that threatened his own son about becoming kinslayer. So yeah definitely not a good person by any means.
