  1. In Tywin's army we already see signs of rable: "the vanguard was made up of the sweepings of the west: mounted archers in leather jerkins, a swarming mass of undisciplined freeriders and sellswords, fieldhands on plow horses armed with scythes and their fathers’ rusted swords, half-trained boys from the stews of Lannisport. . ." Tyrion description of Stafford's army is not very powerfull either. "His host was raw—apprentice boys, miners, field hands, fisherfolk, the sweepings of Lannisport." I doubt Tywin could draw any signifcant reinforcements in the west. Once Robb draw Tywin out of HH, he had the superiority in numbers and in quality. Also Robb does not need to stay only in CR, if he realizes he can't take it, he can always pillage the lands around and capture other castles like he did in canon. How much damage could he make? Good point, but he is the best man to defend the land, he plays safe and diferent from Edmure he won't spread his army trying to defend every smallfolk. If Robb raises hell in the west, is Tywin that looks weak and Roose will have no reason to jump ship. Just his presence would be enough for Tywin know that he can't jus rampage the Riverlands freely like Robb did in the West. In HH Tywin can retreat back to the castle and stay safe. If the fight happens in the West Robb can even choose the field where it will happen. Tywin rushed back to the Westerlands after Robb early sucess in the canon, I don't see him ignoring his own castle under treat.
  2. Robb's forces wouldn't be scattered around, because the Riverlords are not spread like Edmure wanted. They are together with Robb in the west, If he could draw Tywin to the Westerlands with 6k imagine what he could do with at the very least 20k, and not having Edmure there to stop him. Also the Riverlands still have Roose and his 10k to defend then. Tywin is not that free. Grey wind can help a lot setting up ambushes like the WW or Oxcross, but in battle he is just a good moral boost. Tywin is safe in HH, even if he is beaten he can always withdraw safe to HH. They have to lure him out of there, sieging CR does that.

    Robb Stark

Brandon and Catelyn would get married in the early 20, so did Cersei and Robert. Robb still young. He still had a time and Ned and Catelyn would probably let him choose his bride as long as it was a suitable candidate. Edmure, Asha, Arianne, Wyllas, Oberyn, Renly, are all older than him and not even betrothed.
  4. Blackfish was very much against this. He let's clear that marching on Harenhall is what Tywin wants. Marq Piper had the best idea, if they put CR under siege they will force Tywin out of HH and they can face him in the field with numerical superiority.
  5. I would choose Marq Piper. This is what Robb did later, invading the Westerlands destroying the army of Stafford, but acting right after that he is not too weak to siege Lannisport or Casterly Rock, he can openly challenge Tywin in the field and also the Riverlords do not take heavy damage fighting the Lannisters own their own because Edmure pressured to let them defend their lands. Is also a much higher blow to Tywin's prestige if you can actually siege and take CR. And acting imideatly after beating the Lannisters might be enough to show Balon how weak defended the Westerlands are. Do not declare KITN, let Tywin Renly and Stannis fight for KL, if any of the baratheon brothers win bend the knee. If Tywin came to battle keep him busy until someone takes KL. Bracken propose is also a good one. Is the safer bet. but knowing that Renly will get shadow baby later on just put them openly to be betrayed by the Tyrells when LF comes. Stevron propose is pretty much impossible to work, no one there agreed with that, and it could also mean letting Tywin win the war, and swallowing their pride, also, with knowloge of future this would be bad once the Tyrells join the Lannister camp. Tytos Blackwood has the worst idea, since it means doing what Tywin's want.

    Does Roose love Ramsay ?

Roose may have loved Domeric, but he cleary hates Ramsay. "don't make me rue the day I raped your mother".

    Why do people love Dany?

Karstark wasn't an ally at that point, he set up his men to loot and pillage the riverlands, he killed Robb soldiers and hostage, he just like Ramsey commited high treason, he also put other northem prisoners in a bad situation since the Lannisters could retaliate. The mistake was to not use him as hostage, but Robb was never pragmatic, and this mistake would not change anything. And I also had this problem with Jon.

    Why do people love Dany?

You are comparing the situation before the books starts. If you comparing childhood than yes she sufered more, but by the time the books started she together with Tyrion is the luckyiest character. As I pointed out earlier characters went out of they way to help her. She could have died poisoned if wasn't for Jorah, she could have been killed by the blood riders if wasn't for Jorah, in Qarth she was saved by Iliryo sending her his ships, Daario betrayed his captain and joined her, Selmy travaled over a sea to saved her, and in Dance she was saved by Drogo. Only Tyrion comes close to Daenerys luck. Don't know how this prove that he is lucky... he got betrayed by two of his bannerman, his aunt ignored him, his uncle screwed his plans, his mother started the war, left him to babysit his brothers, than released his biggest hostage...twice, the idiot he proposed a alliance declared war on him, his best friend went out his way to f him over, Winterfell one of the most defensive castles falls to 30 dudes, and this is just the tip of the iceberg... Dolorous Edd would feel lucky compared to this.

    Why do people love Dany?

The thing that left me bored with Dany's story is that from the begining was clear that she was going to westeros and fight for her bithright. So every big conflict that she had after the death of Khal Drogo was an "yawn" for me... It never felt like she was truly in danger. I had a similar feeling with Jon, to be honest.

    Why do people love Dany?

The mistake is are the broken marriage and the execution of Karstark but at that point he already had lost. But the bad luck of his is too big. Ramsey starting a civil war in the north, Balon refusing the alliance and invading the north, Renly being killed by magic, Lysa Arryn not joining the war, Edmure going against his orders, Tyrion being able to secure a defenso for KL when the city is starving, Stannis being dellayed by bad wheather, Theon going against his orders and taking winterfell with 30 men, Catelyn freeing Jaime.

    Why do people love Dany?

Agree. Everything that could go wrong for Robb went worse, and Jon had just the same bad lucky. Dany on the other hand had a lot of good moments, that she was saved by people going against their best interest, like Jorah saving her from the poinsoned wine, when Drogo is "good as dead" Jorah refuses to abadon her and even defended her against a blood riders. Daario also turned his cloack in her favor and killed his leader, and later on she is saved once again by Selmy.

    Why do people love Dany?

What I liked on her character initially was that she was putting real effort to adapt to a shit situation, she went from a powerless girl bullyied by her brother to a woman able to impress Khal Drogo, and later on gained three dragons and set her up as a leader. But then came the whole mereen arc and her story became boring for me. I never felt her more smart than Robb or Jon.Maybe because I'm a Stark fanboy but for me she just had a better lucky then then Robb or Jon.

Was KL a poisoned apple for Stannis without the Tyrell's support?

The topic do not let clear the reason for Tywin be late to save KL. In your way to see the events are you considering Roose capturing Harenhall after Tywin leave the castle?

Was KL a poisoned apple for Stannis without the Tyrell's support?

Tywin is living of the land that his army is in. If there was enough ressources in the crowlands King's Landing wouldn't be in such dire situation. Rosby, Stokeworth and Bywater fought for the Lannisters in Blackwater, but once Stannis takes the city, Bywater lord is killed, the lady of the Stokeworth becomes his hostage. Also Stannis becomes the favorite to win the war, he is coming from big victories, Tywin on the other hand is taking loss after loss. The crusades has the logistic support from the bizantines, and were able to get their suplies through the port. Tywin is cut out from the Westerlands because of Robb, he has no navy and he has to forage the Riverlands to get his supplies, even during this he has to concern himself with Beric and the BWB ambushing his men. I do not belive that Tywin can siege or blocked KL. If he tries this he has to hold his ground and offer Stannis battle.

Was KL a poisoned apple for Stannis without the Tyrell's support?

Good question. They priority is to beat the Lannisters, Stannis only comes after it. Robb could have sued for peace with Tywin, getting the hostages he asked before and marching to take the north back, letting Stannis and Tywin kill each other. Or he could scream "F. you Lannister", behead Jaime, and move against Tywin. I don't see he striking against Stannis first, even more if Stannis has Sansa as hostage.

Was KL a poisoned apple for Stannis without the Tyrell's support?

The siege of Antioch in the first crusade was a nightmare... if you're pointing any other siege please correct me. The army of the crusaders wasn't big enough to blocked all the gates of the city and the city keep getting supplies. The crusades had to capture the port St Symeon to stop the city to get provisions. Even then the army was closer to starve then the city, they had to put down a good chunk of their own horses to feed themselfs. The defenders were able to constant raid the camps of the Crusaders, many of them deserted and the city only fall due to treason. Don't know how this shows a easy task. Tywin's case is worse since the enemy army inside the city is stronger than his. They had help from the Tyrells, The van lead by Garlan made most of the job in BW. If Stannis took the city and there is no Tyrell army to help the Lannisters would be doomed.

Was KL a poisoned apple for Stannis without the Tyrell's support?

Davos says nearly 20k on cavalry, this is after taking Renly's army, so Stannis could have gotten more suport somewhere else. Stannis can also dismount his knights and use them as heavy infantry. His army is better in quality than Tywin's army, they have high moral and are in a good defensive position. Tywin has a army of the same size, worst in quality, low morale after coming from big defeats and has to siege a city that has an army of the same size of his... If comes to battle everything points out to a Stannis victory. Of course it is, but the quality of his army is lower than Stannis. Or do you disagree? Why wouldn't? Stannis has the numbers to face Tywin in battle and he needs to end the threat to his throne. Tywin needs to get a victory to save his cause or at least put him in a position where he can negotiate at the very leat a conditional surrender. Tywin can't siege the city when the army inside it is just strong or stronger than his own, storming the city also would put him in a worst position having to breach the walls.

Was KL a poisoned apple for Stannis without the Tyrell's support?

Because they did? Florent, both branchs of Fossoway, Meadows, Mulendore, Varner, Willum sidded with Stannis. If he has the Redwynes as hostages he can also put them on him boat. Also, Stannis's army is stronger than Tywin. Stannis has 20k in cavalry alone acording do Davos. "The kingsroad ran from Storm’s End straight to King’s Landing, a much shorter route than by sea, and his host was largely mounted; near twenty thousand knights, light horse, and freeriders" Tywin on the other hand has 20k in total and a lot of them are peasants ill equiped. He watched Ser Gregor as the Mountain rode up and down the line, shouting and gesticulating. This wing too was all cavalry, but where the right was a mailed fist of knights and heavy lancers, the vanguard was made up of the sweepings of the west: mounted archers in leather jerkins, a swarming mass of undisciplined freeriders and sellswords, fieldhands on plow horses armed with scythes and their fathers’ rusted swords, half-trained boys from the stews of Lannisport. . . and Tyrion and his mountain clansmen"

For the city Stannis may lack the supplies, but for his army I highly doubt it. We never hear of Stannis army having logistic problems with their supplies.

Who would be the best person to foster Robert Arryn?

but now talking serious I don't think anyone could do a good job on Sweet Robin. The best for the kid was to be raised by Arryn himself. Winterfell is too far away, Ned is from a diferent religion, Robin health was too frail for a hard place. Can't think in Bran or Arya getting along with the boy. Riverrun, if the Eyrie is no option is probably the best for Robin, but there is no way in hell Lysa would let the "monster that forced her to abort" close to her child. There are no kids from Robert's age, Edmure is kind, and from all the lords in the series he would be the most tolerant of the kid, but he never had a kid or a ward before. Stannis is a hard men, Shereen is aroud his age but the greyscale thing would screw everything up. There is also the issue of Mellisandre trying to burn the boy... Tywin would be ok I guess, but I can't imagine him dealling with the spoiled brat, the same goes for Mace.

Who would be the best person to foster Robert Arryn?

Randyl Tarly...Sam would look awesome in comparison.

Was KL a poisoned apple for Stannis without the Tyrell's support?

Tywin's army was the same size of Stannis, but Stannis would have more quality in troops and moral on his side, (Tywin would be coming back after a defeat at the fords and Stannis after a big victory), and this is not couting the walls of the city in Stannis favor. Without Mace Tywin is doomed.

Was KL a poisoned apple for Stannis without the Tyrell's support?

I could be wrong, but didn't Stannis helped to starve the city by blocking the ports or something ? If he did, he could call it off, trade would come back and the situation would start to improve, he has the biggest navy and other ships would start to come with supplies, LF was also able to raise more money charging people to enter in the city, Stannis could have gotten a little coin to spend on supplies, there is also the Redwynes that could be forced to his side. There is also what would the other factions lose. Tywin if he lost KL is screwed. His lands are being pillaged by Northems, he lost KL to Stannis, his reserve army was destroyed, Cersei, Lancel and Tyrion are either killed or captured, Jaime is captured, Joffrey dead. He is failing to protect his family and his lands. Why would Mace keep backing him up in such a dire situation ? Mace's army is mostly infantry and a lot of those men are sworn to men that are with Stannis now. The army, getting news of a Stannis victory could melt away or deflect to Stannis. Tarly had to kill thousands of Florents to keep control over them, would he be able to do it with the Fossoway, Varner, Meadows, and so on ?
  24. Jon Arryn had a much bigger challenge during his time then Tywin, but he let it happen. He let corruption in the small concil go wild with figures like LF(his on appointment), the marriage he pushed Robert in was a complete disaster, the city watch was in the command of Janos Slynt... the crow was in heavy debt, he failed to see the plots around the court and got murdered and let a crazy Cersei usurpe the royal sucession line, causing the biggest war since the RR. can't say he did a good job.
  25. Let’s say that Doran saw the oportunity of getting his revenge against the Lannisters during the wot5k. Which of the Kings would be his best option to support against the Lannisters? How much could he change the results? And what moment would be the best to move against the Lions?
