  1. If Ted Nasmith was able to be present during the filming of Jackson’s LoTR per their invitation along with Alan Lee, he would’ve surely received his Academy Award as well. Many scenes were actually inspired by Ted Nasmith’s artworks that were drawn prior to the filming. Too bad he had to deal with personal issues during that time.

I love Ted Nasmith’s artworks on Tolkien’s Middle-Earth. Even GRRM supposedly purchased all his artworks on Game of the Throne. That man is a legend.

About the Art of Gary Gianni for George R. R. Martin’s Seven Kingdoms

This book contains all of Gary Gianni’s artwork for George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. Over 300 pages of beautifully illustrated scenes from the five novels in the series—A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons—are featured alongside passages from the books themselves. Also included are illustrations from the two prequels of the series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and Fire and Blood. All together, the paintings and hundreds of drawings in pencil and pen-and-ink provide a unique view of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros as seen through the eyes of the award-winning illustrator. Describing Gianni’s artwork, George R. R. Martin says it’s “as if I am looking through a window into Westeros, that I am there with Tyrion and Daenerys, with Ned and Arya, with Dunk and Egg.

All of Gary Gianni’s previously shown pencil sketches and paintings have been tightened up and polished for this collection, making them appear as new works. In addition, over 35 pencil drawings appear for the first time. The artist draws on his longtime experience in comics and illustration to offer a unique perspective into Martin’s universe.

The book also includes an introduction by Cullen Murphy, who discusses the art of illustration and adds context to the pictures by providing an overview of Gianni’s career. Notes from the artist reveal insight concerning his methods and the creative process of working with Martin, a relationship that has spanned five years to date.

  4. Update

I won't be needing a matching limited edition set of the Saga!

I am currently looking to collect a matching set of Song of Ice and Fire, with first to copies from MM!

I am crazy about the condition of the books and slipcasing. I like to purchase only absolute pristine set without a single flaw of flaw (discoloration, chilling, foxing, fading, tears, folds, wrinkles, sratches, wears, and etc.)

    Please let me know!!!

  5. UPDATE: Got my lettered set! Please disregard this posting!

I am currently looking to collect an entire set of lettered editions of the Song of Ice and Fire set, individually (or set), mismatched letter OK!!!

I am not very picky with trying to complete a matching set as I still find intrinsit value in even a single lettered copy and quite frankly, I find the premium attached with having a complete set too tolling financially.

However, if the matched set's pricing seems to fall in line with what has been trading currently, than I am up for the purchase too.

    The_Antiquarian,

I've added you to the Wanted list. As for condition, that is something you will have to work out with the seller. There are a few lettered copies on the Available list, so I would suggest you get in touch with those members and see if they are still available. Good luck!

You are too kind. Thank you very much!

  7. Hello Becca69!

I am new to the forum and I joined to seek limited/lettered editions of the Song of Ice and Fire books.

First of all, thank you very much for hosting the space for all interested parties to buy and sell!

Could you kindly update the "want" list with the want list of my own?

[WTB]: Any lettered edition of the Song of Ice and Fire by both MM and SP. The books need to come in original slipcasing and they need to be in FINE condition, without any visible detects including foxing, tears, chpiping, wrinkles, damps, ownership signature marks, corner and edge wears, color discloration, fading, and etc.

I am not looking for a matching set as the pricing tends to double-triple. I am just interested in any Lettered edition, individually!

I have been a collector of other modern firsts and antiquarian books and as such, the lettered books need to be in the most pristine condition!

    Thank you very much!
