  1. Darksister, Blackfyre, Nightfall, Red Rain, these swords have some of the coolest names around. If you had one, what is the single best name you can think of that hasn't been used yet?

    Why Does Darkstar Matter?

Because someone will wield Dawn before this series is over, and it's likely him.

About the Coldhands =/= Benjen thing...

I guess this makes the most sense.
  4. I'm sure most of you have seen this http://i.imgur.com/FfI1goA.jpg It's an early draft of ADWD where an editor asked GRRM if CH was Benjen, to which he was replied "no". A lot of people took this as ultimate proof, but does it even make sense? Is an editor supposed to be asking spoilers about the series? Why does he even need to know that? What if George just told him no , but was actually planning on making that a real thing (if this was just an early draft)? This all is a bit confusing to me.
  5. In AGoT Stannis is said to have fled to dragonstone after Jon Arryn is killed, and was probably planning to raise his banners as soon as shit went south (in this case Ned and Robert dying). Tywin wanted to foster Sweetrobin, which means Pycelle knew about it, and wanted to guarantee the Vale would be on their side. Renly shows Ned a portrait of Margaery and asks him if she looked like Lyanna, which is a really damn weird thing to ask, but seems to make sense if you assume he was conspiring with Loras to make Robert wed her. So it seems that Cersei's children not being Robert's but Jaime's wasn't really some unknown thing. Instead, it feels like everyone in the court knew about it and that they were preparing for a war that was coming soon. Why did they all keep it to themselves? If it was that obvious, for how long have they known it? Joffrey was 13 by then, so it surely wouldn't take that long for people to notice that neither him nor Tommen or Myrcella looked like Robert. You'd expect that once it became known for everyone, Robert would just have ordered Cersei, Jaime and their children to be executed, but did they expect it to lead to war? Tywin couldn't rebel alone against the Throne.

    Opinion: Coolest Sounding Name

    Daemon Blackfyre

    Was the Red Wedding inevitable?

If Robb 1. Didn't send Theon back to the Grey Islands 2. Didn't execute Rickard Karstark 3. Didn't marry the Westerling girl It might not have happened.
  8. But wine and beer aren't named after a person that lived in our planet.
  9. Generally speaking, fantasy writers will avoid using words that allude to real people/places in their fictional universe. So you don't call your homemade liquor-based bomb a "molotov cocktail" in a world where Viatcheslav Molotov never existed. However there are many mentions of a drink called "hippocras" in the books, this drink was named after the greek philosopher Hippocrates around 400 B.C. I find it interesting because it implies that Asoiaf happens in our world, possibly after an apocalyptic event, where this is somehow one of the few words that "survived" throughout history. Or maybe this is an oversight from George and his editors, even though this word appears many times in many books. Thoughts?
  10. There's plenty of infanticide in the books.
  11. I don't think Myrcella will be poisoned because Joffrey already was. Doesn't seem like George's style. Either all 3 will die due to poisoning, or they will all have different deaths.
  12. D&D said they had three big surprises when GRRM told them how the rest of the story played out. The first was Shireen's burning. The second was Hodor's origin. What was the third, in the end?
  13. Since Maggy the Frog's prophecy said Cersei's 3 children would die and Joffrey is already dead, it's likely that her other children will perish too. How do you think this will happen?

    The Ending Was very conventional

Horrible, I fucking cried when it happened. My mom came into my room to bring me a plate of chicken nuggets and I literally screamed at her and hit the plate of chicken nuggets out of her hand. She started yelling and swearing at me and I slammed the door on her. I'm so distressed right now I don't know what to do. I didn't mean to do that to my mom but I'm literally in shock from the results that night. I feel like I'm going to explode. Why the fucking fuck didn't Dany become queen? This can't be happening. I'm having a fucking breakdown. I don't want to believe the world is so corrupt. I want a future to believe in. I wanted a strong woman to become queen to fix that broken kingdom. I cannot fucking deal with this right now. It wasn't supposed to be like this, I thought she was the fan favourite???? This is so fucked.

Dany does not have to go to Westeros

She didn't have to, but her impulsive behavior led her there. That's the big irony.
