All who were vying for the Throne died

Bran/3ER is a network of supercomputers, he has access to a massive database and has capacity to simulate a near infinite number of outcomes to a near infinite number of factors outside his control. From this he can extrapolate the most likely course of events to produce the most beneficial outcome. I do believe he has been playing everyone, not for his own ego or anything but because logically he calculates King 3ER as the highest probability beneficial future.

All who were vying for the Throne died

    1. How do you know Bran wasn't vying for the throne 2. Valar morghulis 3. I don't see a problem

So once again...the writers forgot about Gendry

So once again the conversation all about Gendry forgets all about Gendry.

The "council" was simply a rubber stamp

Reasons? There's two armies and nobody in charge. Davos sends for help. Popular support is for Jon and Tyrion - local lads. Grey Worm is seen as a hostile foreign invader and war criminal but he did fight against the dead and has a nasty army backing him so has to be handled carefully. Grey Worm has no reason to want to stay in Westeros but demands justice for his queen. There was scope for all kinds of onscreen scheming and subterfuge in the gap between Dany's death and the council but if the show follows that storyline the story gets dragged out further and further and risks getting boring.

    The heartless subtext thread...

Sam has The Citadel by the balls. He has all the inside dirt on how they almost left the apocalypse happen through institutionalized ignorance. Under the circumstances a rapid promotion in recognition of Sam's outstanding dedication to the furtherance of education and knowledge seems reasonable.

Now that is Over - Let's rank best and worst!

Just 5 scenes that I could just keep watching over and over and over Oberyn & Tyrion: https://youtu.be/M7n79tN6Fpw

    Edmure Should Have Got It

He got his arse handed to him by his niece, in public. He has no claim to lead anyone after that.

Purpose of the wall now ?

Oh! Well mass suicide tidies up the dothraki problem very nicely.

Purpose of the wall now ?

Dothraki follow strength. They abandoned Khal Drogo when he got sick and switched allegiance to Daenerys without any question of vengeance when she burnt their entire leadership structure. It would be out of character for them to give a damn for a khaleesi who allowed herself to be killed.

    The Ending Was very conventional

Exactly 21 hours ago, C.T. Phipps said: Short version: * Creepy, crippled nerd King instead of the obvious, popular options. * Revolution for the people fails * Victims reject their salvation and war heroes do nothing heroic. * Political unity begins to disolve * Rejected outsider's ending is to uphold the traditionalist system

West of Westeros: The Voyages of A. Stark

Arya: What's west of Westeros? Jon: I don't know Arya: :-D Sam: There is a small uninhabited archipielago, and then lots and lots and lots and lots of water... and then you circumnavigate the planet and arrive to Ulthos. There are clues about it in the Fire and Blood book... Arya: :-O Arya: ;-(

West of Westeros: The Voyages of A. Stark

For forty days and forty nights she will travel before reaching the shores of Americos. There she will join forces with The Redneck Woman and Pumpkin Pie to fight off a mysterious gathering threat beyond The Wall in the south.

    The Six Kingdoms

How about Edmure Tully though, waddaguy. He spent years imprisoned, forgotten by the world except for the brief fleeting moments when he nearly died. Years of solitude and emptiness, does he reflect on his mistakes, does he reconsider his life choices and rebuild himself as a better more humble man? Does he fuck. Character arc? Not for Uncle Ed. The man is true to his own self. Top man.

    The Six Kingdoms

I think Dorne and Iron Islands weren't part of the 7 kingdoms anyway? I guess they are represented as the meeting affects all of Westeros, not just the 7 kingdoms.

    The Six Kingdoms

Westeros = E.U. Sansa Stark = Theresa May GRRM foreshadowed it all It is hard to tell with prophecies but I guess Wales is going to disappear into the east. The queen will be exiled to the Northern Ireland border and Harry The Super Ninja Soldier will fuck off to the U.S.

    Game of Thrones legacy

I think you have to accept that some things just are. You can't explain magic, any explanation would just rely on more magic.

I’m going to miss this show

I agree, it has been phenomenal entertainment. All the theorizing and speculation and outrage and argument has been entertaining. It has been magnificent, spectacular entertainment at its best and at its worst it is still engaging. That's all it is though- entertainment. Treat it as such and you won't all be so disappointed. Enjoy the ride one last time, life will still give you plenty of disappointment, frustration and misery if you really want it.

    Final decision: Was Cersei pregnant?

Seemed to me that from the side she had a bit of a belly when she was watching out the window last week. I am not a doctor though. I suspect Daenerys is also expecting, it would explain the emotional outburst.

    Bran's Final Purpose

Most likely reason is they just wanted to fuck with your head. Is she mad? Just pissed off?! Posessed by Bran??!! OMG, is it The Night King??!!!!! Tune in next week to find out but don't forget to talk and speculate as much as possible in the meantime, it all helps boost the ratings.

Do you see any way dany lives through all this?

Objectively there's a damn good chance that the lady with the dragon and probably still the strongest army lives. Really she should have the best odds of anyone still standing. Finale should be her issuing her Bend The Knee ultimatum to a yard full of nobles and anyone who gives the wrong answer gets burnt. The remaining 70 minutes or so then just a continuous tracking shot of her making a sandwich, cleaning up afterwards and falling asleep reading a book.

    Thank you Dothraki

I say half because I think it came up in ep04 and that figure was mentioned on screen. I'm also happy to believe that not every last man of Daenerys's army was at Winterfell. What seemed to transpire in the dragon pit last season gave the impression that they would be but surely she left forces to guard strategic positions and maintain law and order in areas she believed to be under her control.
  23. The Red Waste

    Thank you Dothraki

There's maybe 30 columns of 50 men each in the photo. Maybe a few hundred dothraki. Sure, there might be a stadium full of unsullied off to the side for all i know but the photo is showing me around 2000 men. I don't think that's excessive when she left Essos with tens of thousands, even with half of them dying at Winterfell.
  24. Just because Davos has never heard surrender bells doesn't mean it can't happen. The bells can mean anything, they are just a general "BREAKING NEWS!!" announcement. Davos and Mathos discuss surrender as one possibility and Davos is just letting his lad known that it won't be that easy. In the same episode Tyrion and Varys crack a joke about the different horrors the bells can mean; death, invasions, weddings. Bad Writing isn't always the explanation.

Gendry got lorded up by a war criminal. Unless she survives and he supports her regime he's back to being Gendry The Bastard. Which is probably as well for him because he seems like a nice lad who'd be killed within six months if he found himself in a real position of power.
