  1. @RhaenysBee I do it after @Isisif you’re looking for improvement in texture, a medium or deep peel is a great option
  2. I do it fairly regularly, supposedly it gets serums and such to penetrate further. I can’t say that I notice much difference but I pretty much resolved my skin issues before trying that.
  3. If you’re having discrimination related issues you could try Nurx, which is where I get my spironolactone and trentinoin and birth control prescriptions via online service. They have a very limited and specific scope but it’s a very straightforward process where you fill out a questionnaire and send photos so they can confirm yes you have acne or whatever and they just mail you your prescriptions. They were also great when I just messaged saying I wanted to switch from .05 to .1% trentinoin. It being more impersonal seems to also make it more impartial
  4. I was never able to get a handle on hormonal acne until I was prescribed spironolactone (it’s a pill, not a topical). If you’re not happy with the Differin you could ask your derm about it. It was a real game changer for me
  5. When I get peely I use a good moisturizer and serum, let those absorb a few minutes, and then I use a petrolatum based product to seal it in (I use Nivea cream) so the air can’t steal the moisture you just applied. If you want to wear eyeshadow or don’t want to be shiny, I’d do this before bed
  6. For those of us who have suffered from melasma/hyperpigmentation, I have a new recommendation! previously the only thing that had been helping were medium to deep chemical peels at my medspa. Those were very effective and results took about a week, which was when I finished looking like a shedding snake. This option is great, but expensive (best one I got was a one and done but it was about $700) I have signed up for Musely, which is an online based subscription service for prescription skincare (they also deal with lightening skin in ***other*** areas). In 2 1/2 weeks I’ve seen significant improvement in my melasma, which I was expecting to either not work at all or take longer since I’d stopped believing in topicals after months of using SkinMedica’s Lytera 2.0 to no avail (and it’s expensive). I was pretty impressed and would recommend it. I was pretty peely for the first week or so, which is usually the case when I get a new product. You can pm me if you want to try it, pretty sure my account has some discount codes and they’re stingy about other types of discounts at signup.
  7. I had that both when I started Retin A .05% and when I upgraded to 1%. It took a couple months for my skin to adjust but after that it was good
  8. Yep. What a waste. You’d think his daughter and son in law (Scott Ian from Anthrax) would have pressed him to protect himself.
  9. I also read an interview with the creators that explicitly states we will see adult Lottie in Season 2. I’m betting she’s played by Winnie Cooper from the Wonder Years
  10. Do we know that about him though? I didn’t feel like that was at all settled
  11. I’m like ten minutes in and holy shit this show just keeps smacking me around. I laughed hard about the book club line
  12. What I’ve told clients who want to cover scars with tattoos is to start moisturizing as deeply as you can (emu oil smells like belly button but it penetrates deeply) and massaging really hard like pinching and rolling to soften the tissue. You could also try a micro needling roller. Scar tissue is usually denser than regular tissue and this can help soften the texture. As for the hyperpigmentation that’s just time and hope usually but scars tend to stop changing after 3-5 years
  13. Most places that do Botox would have it or an equivalent!
  14. I think #1- they’re starving. Taissa is eating dirt in her sleep. Will they be able to ignore a food source? #2- Taissa biting her own hand certainly implies cannibalism
  15. Chats got me on peels and while my derm does a different brand I can attest that my skin is also way better than my twenties and it is the only thing that fixed my hyperpigmentation and pore congestion.
  16. Give it some time even if it does irritate- for almost everyone there is an adjustment period with it for your skin. When I first started using it my skin was MAD but it has chilled out and is very nice now
  17. On the advice of my Botox nurse, I have purchased the outrageously expensive SkinMedica Advanced + serum. It’s made by Allergan, who make Botox and some other injectables, and from what she says and what I’ve read online, this is a pretty impressive product. My skin is already doing great (just got a melasma peel and my hyperpigmentation is gone), so I don’t know what I’m expecting to see here but it supposedly has visible results after 2 weeks. I think it contains HGH or something similar. They did the Visia imaging on my face which is basically high resolution imaging and software to make you freak out about your skin by ranking you in percentile for your age. They also can use it to digitally age you in ten year increments to show what your skin may look like if you stopped taking care of it.
  18. I have mine microbladed and shaded and it’s awesome. As long as you find someone who is good (if you made a trip to MPLS for some reason I can recommend my cosmetic artist, but I don’t know anyone for that in NY), the application and healing are really really easy. I never fill my brows anymore and only tweeze hairs that come outside of the line. It was a big improvement. I also got permanent eyeliner as a lash enhancement and I don’t really recommend it. It was a super gross feeling and I don’t feel like it made enough difference to be worth it, especially since I still wear eyeliner daily. Edit to add- Zabz, I sent an FB message with my mother’s before and afters!
  19. Here’s what I do for my skin and I am *finally* where I want it to be- prescriptions- spironolactone orally twice daily (for clear skin) trentinoin topical once daily (anti aging) Morning products- trentinoin cream Murad Essential C moisturizer Bedtime products- The Ordinary Vitamin C suspension 23% + HA spheres The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA Once a week I also exfoliate with the Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% peeling solution the advanced skincare I do is Botox every 4 months to prevent crowsfeet and eleven lines, and I do chemical peels as needed for hyperpigmentation. Ive tried TONS of different skincare routines and this has my skin finally looking perfect.
  20. Tomorrow is the Chauvin sentencing here in beautiful Minneapolis
  21. If you’re in the area I totally think the planning committee should hear your thoughts. Like I said- I think the pride of each city should be that community’s business.
  22. That poll doesn’t speak to the LGBTQA BIPOC community in New York City, which is the Pride in question. Pride is a locality by locality thing, and I don’t know why it should be big news for people outside that community to weigh in on. I know we have a few LGBTQA boarders in that city and perhaps one of them will weigh in on it. But I don’t see any case for not letting that community plan it’s celebration however they want and communities who wanna welcome police can plan theirs in their way. As for you thinking lip service and window dressing are helpful steps, we simply disagree on that.
  23. It helps because it doesn’t allow them to give the appearance of outreach without making a meaningful effort. Window dressing isn’t just unhelpful, it keeps real work from getting done. You will find it is not just the LGBTQA community that sometimes decides this. And I am not telling the LGBTQA community what to do with Pride -at all-. I am not part of that community, I’m just explaining that I understand where people who feel this way are coming from. I am all for whatever each community wants to do for their own Pride celebration and fully support their ability to make those choices without those of us outside the community butting in.
