  1. Hope everybody knows Modern Love, anthology inspired by the NYT column. Also the Tokyo and Amsterdam versions Also Mumbai and Hyderabad The latest set in Chennai dropped today. On Amazon Prime Video, not sure if available all over the world. Ok I don't know how to say this. I'll go with a step at a time linear approach. The first 5 episodes are good but nothing extraordinary and require a lot of local cultural contexts to relate and appreciate. I should know, trust me. But the last. Longest among the 6 (69 minutes). Phew. Swallows*. Best fucking cinema I've seen like in a looong time. Directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja. Has only 2 other features to his credit which are themselves masterpieces but IMHO have a contextual barrier to an extent. Creative producer of ML:C here. Did I mention how fucking great it was !? It's like Wong Kar Wai & Woody Allen had a kid with Nolan and Villeneuve. Arrenofsky & Refn on the side. Doyle's camerawork is nearly ousted by the DoPs' here. And the art lighting sets and costumes and writing and performances. I could go on. Also part of the same cinematic universe his other two features were set in. Innumerable Easter eggs contribute to exquisite worldbuilding. Nothing inyourface ish. Manh

  8. Even Following was better than Tenet ETA Ok, cinema is an audio visual medium, back when I was a noob amateur discovering cinema for real, I got trolled for saying the sound was good. It seemed so to dumb me. But a rewatch was torturous even subbed.
  9. BCS S6P1 over Fuck the Salamancas, Varga fanboy now. Phenomenally written and acted character. Not to mention the multiple cast and crew directed episodes just too good. P2 tomorrow, E8 to the end
  10. But they, the grey rats believe in it all the same, and yet efforts directed towards elimination not acquisition And the Citadel has a lot of rare books, like the one a certain FM is after.
  11. Like that organization in the Eastrail 177 Shyamalan trilogy you know, Split Unbreakable Glass
  12. Really sad to see the mediocre brown exports from here is what the West holds in the same standard as the Asians. I mean, everyone after Dev Patel...duh
  13. Yeah, to say he was brilliant is an understatement. There were papers on his depositions and all. A man of principle. Passed on a magisterial position when they asked for a certain something. He'd do cases free for the uh...marginalized. Father, uncle and aunt never resented him not providing a luxurious existence. I'd be a spoilt ignorant brat if he'd made different choices. Nearing 90 now, healthy as a horse, d probably outlive his next generation. Needless to say I owe him a lot and hold him in high esteem. They just don't make 'em like they used to do. Sigh* But Ivanhoe was something, deviation from the usual grey Scot setting.
  14. Sir Walter Scott's Peveril of the Peak and The Betrothed, 2 of the Waverley Novels (Ivanhoe among these). From grandfather's unreturned library collection circa late 1950's when he was studying law (or rather more of the other way around with him). The smell of the ruffled pages, aah.
  15. BCS S5E6 How could they sustain that momentum for so long, and I expect till the end?
  16. Anyway Pathirana is just Malinga with better control. Young Malinga took longer before he became that lethal
