  1. We don't know how big of a public knowledge Jon's existence was at that point. It could very well be that Ned didn't talk about his bastard everywhere he stopped on his journey back. We aren't told that he ever visited, for example Robert, on his way back to Winterfell. Could've explained it with carrying the bones of her sister, whom he wants to put to her rest as soon as possible. Either way, the folks at Winterfell got to know about it the moment he arrived, (I assume a handful of people knew about the child specifically at Starfall as well) but other people of the realm (who bothered to care) may have got to know this later on, for example during Greyjoy's Rebellion. At that point, who really cared? And even looking at medieval customs, Eddard Stark would've had every right to raise a child of his own blood (in case he decided to publicly aknowledge Jon as his nephew), despite what Robert desires. However, I guess that never even came to his mind, given how he possibly swore Lyanna to keep him safe, which he achieved the way we are told.
  2. Given how religious of a mindset Jaehaerys I and Alysanne had, that could very well be a reason. Gael wasn't handicapped. She grew up as Alysanne's toy because of the unlucky events of the past when her sisters died, which made Alysanne mentally break, so she kept Gael pretty close to herself, who was groomed in a bad way. Half of that could be enough foe Gael to turn out like she was. And she doesn't sound handicapped, just innocent, which shows her inexperience with the world, and that can be traced bacj to Alysanne, who made her sleep alongside her until the end of her time.
  3. Doesn't make much sense. Just think about it. The dornishmen negotiated with Baelor a truce that's been sealed with a marriage pact. If Daeron's wife were to inherit when the marriage was arranged, it would've meant handing over their desired independence, for which they fought for amd technically won. The situation was rather similar to what Doran had in his mind. From the moment he tought Arianne will marry Viserys, he tought of Quentyn as his heir, not her. Daeron II was expected to sit on the chair at some point, so that meant a Martell Queen at some point anyway it happens. It was something the Lords of The Sveen Kingdoms would've not agreed to, Baelor was looked down for being an idiot in this case (as well), as it benefited the dornishmen. That wouldn't be the case if Baelor's treaty was good for the Iron Throne as it would've meant the annexation of Dorne. Otherwise, (and I mean if Myriah Martell wasn't disinherited) we would remember Baelor I as the one who brought Dorne under the Crown. Hence Myriah Martell wasn't meant to inherit from the moment of the peace treaty and was never considered as such after. It was beneficial because it beought Daeron II and Maron closer, but nothing else. Also, the reason Daeron I was included in the peace treaty and not a sister of Baelor and Daeron I is because they weren't 'for sale' at the time. They've never been until Baelor died, because he never wanted them to marry. He was a strange person, and the reason why he locked his sisters in a tower is because they were too big of a temptation to him. The point is, in no way was Maron Martell marrying up, unless everyone who marries a Targaryen marries up. The thing that actually indicates Maron's age isn't that he didn't marry a sister of Baelor, but that he wasn't married by the time Daenerys became available. But at the same time Maron Martell could've been a smart guy, and awaited for Daenerys to become available. I mean, if he wasn't a stupid as a brick (or even multiple bricks), he probably foresaw that this IT vs Dorne will end badly for the dornish anyway at some point, so he might have aimed for those divine rights he got from the annexation of Dorne without a fight. But even if not, the age gap could very well had been 10 years, with him being 25 and Daenerys 15. Easy to imagine, if you ask me, and the age gap could also very well be a thing that made the marriage a one with no love included (and that is supported from every direction).
  4. It was me. And yes, he certainly will. Haha.
  5. That could be. But Sansa is Sansa Stark, legitimate children of Eddard Stark. They mean to reveal that at some point. I don't know if it's possible or not, but Petyr on the other hand could very well name Sansa his heir. I assume. With Alayne it is different, it mostly matters on wether Harry the Heir will be in a position this could be accepted, when/if the two marry. I'm not sure if bastards can be named heirs or the like, but they surely can't inherit naturally as trueborn children could.
  6. Bastards don't inherit. Nevermind that they're the last of their line or anything, they don't have a right to.
  7. Well, the horn Euron owns could easily be a thing he got from somewhere else (let's say the area west to Slaver's Bay, Elyria, or the region north of the Valyrian peninsula), but what then is the point of lying about it? Really not much. The other thing bothering me is where does the knowledge comes from that the horn is for controling dragons? (I actually think that's not its purpose, but I also can't guess what is it then) He either made this thing up, asked someone (but who? The warlocks?) and is being misled (or not).
  8. Considering that Aerea and Balerion were missing for more than a year, let's assume they spent a full year in Valyria. That means they (she) survived there that long, and Balerion immediately came back when something (whatever it may be) happened with Aerea, otherwise she wouldn't hsve survived the way back to KL Euron returned to the Iron Islands after two years of banishment. Considering that he went as far as Asshai (maybe even further) with a ship, he did not spend more than three months in Valyria, if he really was there. I can imagine that he survived there that long without a dragon (tho most likely not in the heartlands, or I dunno). But there have to be others as well. His people can't speak, of course, his visit to Valyria might be a reason why George made Euron's entire crew tongueless.
  9. When you see someone comparing fans of a fictional character to nazis, ISIS members or jihadists, you know we're past those lines.
  10. S/he meant that when Arya went sleeping, it was fully dark, the night already arrived, but in her dream as Nymeria it was only dusk, and the night was only about to come. At least that's what I got, and that he doesn't understand if that's intentional because of the distance between the two (which isn't really enough for such a thing to happen, altough Nymeria was west compared to her), or George made a mistake there.
  11. @Megorova considering King Jaehaerys' relation to Braavos at that time, this does actually feel like a possibility. I recently read in a thread an idea that originally incest doesn't affect valyrians, but once they are not practicing it and then later do, there will be a higher chance for such a thing. We've seen some Targaryens dying because of some kind of illness, but really the only fully "pure-blooded" one was Princess Daenerys. And it's surprising how you connected Rego Draz's death with a possible murder on her due to poison, but I think you're wrong at some points too: 1) Taking someone's face is a long procedure, and there was no mention by the dude of replacing Ser Gyles with a faceless men, just killing him. 2)FM only kill people who they are paid for, and I doubt anyone paid for the death of Ser Gyles and those hungry men of KL who killed Rego Draz. If the hungry girl was really a FM, he wouldn't have told the guards who the murderers were, unless someone paid for the death of each. 3)What I see as a possibility is that the FM played a part in Rego Draz's and Daenerys' death, but nothing else. 4) There are easier ways to get into the Red Keep's kitchen and have acces to the royal family. At least for a FM. Otherwise, nice theory.
  12. I can't give you any quote, nor am I sure about this, but I think I read somewhere that people eventually tried to grow weirwoods in Essos, but the seeds didn't grow at all.
  13. If people woud knew that Lyanna was kidnapped, they wouldn't believe other crazy things. Never it was made clear that he kidnapped her, st least not for us in the text. That's why we still don't know. We know that Lyanna was somewhere in the Riverlands, and Rhaegar was there with his companions. That's all we knew. But it's understandable why majority thinks he kidnapped her. Seems illogical from the crown prince to run away. Seems illogical from a betrothed lady to run away, again. But we are told many hints that might point to what exactly happened. Remember that Rhaegar and his companions were wandering, adventuring for months everywhere when he 'found' Lyanna.
  14. The fact that the whereabouts of Rhaegar and Lyanna was so big of a dead end might imply that neither they knew about what happened in KL, only months after. If they've been in love, they might not have given a damn about what people think, nor thinking about the consequences of both of them dissapearing. Neither it was a logical move from Brandon to demand Lyanna back from Aerys, so it was likely unexpected from their pov. Also, it is stated that Rhaegar was wandering along with his companions for months when he finally kidnapped her, and we know nothing about the 'kidnapping'. But if it was on the street, during the day, with people seeing it, we would know that, I imagine. Then again, we don't know for sure how they felt to each other, but we can suspect (as readers) that it was more than their families tought by that time.
  15. It might be hipocrisy, tho. What we are told to believe is that Lyanna had feelings to him before he "kidnapped" her (Harrenhall). We know Lyanna became so emoitional when he was singing a sad song. But this isn't doubtless, for now. But then we know for sure Rhaegar loved her, even if she didn't love him, for two reasons: -He gave her the crown of winter roses. -Daenerys saw a vision where Rhaegar, with his last breath, whispered a woman's name. One can imagine it wasn't Elia or Rhaella. But it might not be hipocrisy. Lyanna might have believed in the Targaryen poligamy thing, and a betrothal was a betrothal, not a consumed marriage. Or he was just so in love with him that she didn't even bother with such things as marriage and betrothal (But I don't believe this can be fit into the story, given the nature of the 2 characters).
  16. Alyssa Targaryen died months after he gave birth to his third son, Aegon. It might be the case for Lyanna too. We don't know when Jon was concieved or born. We are also told that Lyanna died only after Ned arrived, but we don't know how much after Ned's arrival. It might be a couple days or weeks to. It might also be that Jon wasn't even born by the time Ned arrived. Either way, it likely was impossible to move Lyanna from the ToJ, that's why she died there, and the whole RLJ widely fits into the timeline.
  17. Such a kingdom would've been easy to conquer for any of the Free Cities. Also, they've been tied down by a contract most of the time. They believe on returning back to Westeros up until this point. They always tought they will get back their own in the not-so-far future. They did not plan for such a long period. Neither they had the resources to establish such a kingdom. And of course, the leaders of the Golden Company mostly being Westerosi nobles, the goal always was to return to their homeland. Up until this day, a great amount of them is still Westerosi, because once knights or lords were exiled, they mainly found place at the Golden Company (Robert's Rebellion, the other Blackfyre rebellions, etc.)
  18. Doran haven't played out all his cards yet. He did not tell Arianne everything he's doing. Especially about Gerold Dayne.
  19. The population of Gulltown was speculated about that video. It came from the number of population and the army size. To that population most likely matches the population of Gulltown being 50000. I would gladly find you that interview, but I am currently at university.
  20. As I said, I was wrong about thinking that 50000 for Gulltown is canon. But on the link given, you can find another link which brings you to a YT video where this guy (who was part of the creating of AWOIAF) analyzes this question. He says that Gulltown might have around that amount of people living there. I found these links, and the one where George talks about the 5 cities compared to each other, on this forum, in a topic where the discussion was about how realistic is GRRM's worldbuilding. And as I said, I was wrong, it's not canon, but the most accurate speculation made by people who know better what they do than I.
  21. I looked after it, and you were right, nowhere is mentioned a fix population of Gulltown. https://atlasoficeandfireblog.wordpress.com/2016/03/06/the-population-of-the-seven-kingdoms/#comments Here's the full discussion, it does include informations from one of GRRM's interviews (When he exatly says that the biggest is KL, then a little drop down to Oldtown, then a big drop down to Lannisport and in the end and even bigger down to Gulltown and White Harbor) and speculations of a guy who actually was part of the AWOIAF book. It is also written down why only 400000 people are given to KL. And the thing that even they did not mention is that even if many people are coming to KL from the Riverlands for the call of he Faith, at the same time many people are leaving it too, because of starving. I can't say you anything more, I'm not a specialist, neither are you, but whoever wrote this knew what he was talking about. And 50000 people for Gulltown is fair enough. After all, we are all just speculating, including you.
  22. https://atlasoficeandfireblog.files.wordpress.com/2016/03/westeros-population.png This link also shows you the entire population of Westeros. Well, the entire population is just a speculation, yet pretty accurate, but the population of cityes are fix informations. Also the map given shows you other towns smaller than White Harbor, but still worth of mentioning.
  23. AWOIAF book, when talking about the 5 biggest cityes of Westeros. But there is a video on YouTube too about it, it might be easier to watch that, it only tells you informations given from the books.
  24. Gulltown is the fourt biggest city in Westeros, around 50.000 people are living there according to AWOIAF.
