  1. Yeah I have no idea why George just wanted to copy and past shit. What good does it do for him?
  2. Rhaenyra being the heir is enough to cause a conflict imo. That Strong storyline was completely unnecessary. Yeah George should’ve done better on that part.
  3. Yes? And of course Viserys would take the whole thing seriously since he can’t afford to piss of the Velaryons. And yeah, I don’t know what was in GRRM’s head when he came up with that storyline. I just saw that as GRRM not realizing that gay kings have managed to sire kids.
  4. ??? I mean Viserys could’ve forced Laenor to do something or break off the marriage. This level of stupidity is just straight up too unbelievable that it ruins the story. Also the whole plot line sounds like a cheap way of copying the Cersei/Jaime incest storyline.
  5. Plenty of gay monarchs were able to have kids. Laenor has no excuse. Plus I saw it as GRRM not being aware that gay men have been able to sire children.
  6. He should’ve forced Laenor to copulate with Rhaenyra and allow him to watch to make sure it’s happening.
  7. I mean sure? But that was just pushing it. And Corlys, who cares for legacy, will want his blood on the throne. Seeing Strong blood in the boys would make him livid. There's some problems with season 1 of HOTD (and Fire and Blood) and that is one of the many horrible story telling issues. Nah that's just straight up eating the idiot pill for no reason.
  8. Uh no because that requires a massive degree of stupidity that’s beyond Viserys’s character. Not to mention Corlys would be livid.
  9. This this this this and this. It is by far the only thing in the story that still wracks my brains. LIKE WHY?! (We discussed about this earlier but still the fact that this wasn’t properly addressed still bothers me)
  10. The Strong boys plot line in the Dance of the Dragons was utterly unworkable. Everyone and their fucking mom and dad could tell they’re not Laenor’s kids.
  11. That's true. I'm talking about other things like the Wall. Yikes. I say they're relevant in that they're fighting for their houses and that they're definitely impacted by the war that they'll make themselves relevant. Like there should be more Baratheons and Tullys trying to figure their way through the war when things go bad for them, there should be more Starks to conspire against the Bolton/Frey alliance, and there should be more Arryns to oppose Baelish and his choice of heir. Yeesh. Don't spend a lot of time in fanfics since many of them aren't workable.
  12. ? Agreed, though I've heard people create headcanons where the units of measurement vary across the world hence the real heights of buildings aren't what people claim to be.
  13. But issues like this weight the story down a bit because the worldbuilding issues just distract from the story overall.
  14. Yeah but before there should’ve been more than enough time for them to have at least a couple cadet branches. And before that there should be more than enough time for these dynasties to establish cadet branches. George can always kill them off lol.
  15. I find is absurd how the Starks, Baratheons, Tullys, and Arryns only have a few members alive by the events of the series. Like what happened to the rest? And yes I know GRRM said there are Stark cadet branches and it's just nuts that they haven't made an appearance in the story either. Like there are two (three if you count undead Catelyn) Tullys left, two Baratheons left, one Arryn (a bunch of Gulltown Arryns and a Harrold Hardyng who's an Arryn from the female line), and just straight up kids of Ned Stark. You can't tell me that these houses don't have more relatives lying around right??????????????
  16. From what I've read about them, they were the best knights of their time and thus the Kingsguard they were in was possibly the best skilled during the group's history. And yet as luck would have it they had to serve a king who, to put it mildly, absolutely didn't deserve them. Really a tragicomic twist of fate that the greatest Kingsguard of all time existed only to protect the maddest Targaryen king. I saw people reminiscing about Aerys II's Kingsguard as GRRM writing about the theme of nostalgia, and the desire to return to simpler, more innocent times. But also how said nostalgia can be marred by the fact that sometimes those times were pretty shit, since Aerys II was king.
  17. More like Quaithe is doing what she can to decipher what she's already seeing, and it still comes out like mumbling.
  18. Dunno why Shireen of all people would be sacrificed by her. Melisandre, for all her problems, doesn't sound like she'll stoop that low. Patchface is far likelier, and I wouldn't even bet on it.
  19. Don’t think Melisandre is stupid to sacrifice Shireen, not when she’s Stannis’s ally. She might sacrifice someone else though. As for Shireen, I see the Night’s Watch sending her corpse to Ramsay to prove their loyalty.
  20. Not sure of that. Like for crying out loud humanity is under threat, do something! I know he was possibly falsely accused and convicted, which made me feel bad. But being a selfish dick to Sam that made me lose sympathy for him to the point when Arya came to collect her due I didn't really care for him.
  21. Also not to mention the Others are on their way. Not a good look to not try to do anything to stop them.
  22. It was clear that wildfire was a thing in King’s Landing especially since Aerys II used it a lot. Knowing this, why didn’t Stannis seriously consider that he could run into the issue of wildfire when he attacked King’s Landing? He was in the capital for a while when he was Master of Ships. He should know that the pyromancers were still around. So why didn’t he consider that his enemies would hire them to create wildfire and use it against his forces?
  23. ????? She had to flee from her life from Cersei’s men and live in squalor just to survive. She saw her father die. She had to witness the horrible atrocities of war. She also witnessed the Red Wedding and saw her brother die. She’s an utterly traumatized mess and she has a legitimate grievance against so many people. She has many flaws I know but to simply write her off as irredeemably evil is not it.
