  1. I was talking about the self identification label I quoted you on, that does not convey useful information according to you. What were you talking about?!
  2. I loved that trilogy. It's only good memories for me. Happy to read they're doing a series. Didn't know about it, but will check it out. Thank you!
  3. Jesus. Why would anyone explain in parenthesis in what looks like a cloak and dagger novel what a rapier is?! Nevermind the formatting and layout. I hope Rossignol's foe re-deployed himself for a lethal strike from around the corner and put the man out of his misery. Also out of the book! Anyway, I am on a bit of a binge on Discworld the Death series. It's the Good Omens season 2 that brought me back to Terry Pratchett. However this time on the audiobooks and I'm loving the narration and the Death voice. Insanely good. Finishing Reaper Man.
  4. Thank you for the perspective, Ormond. It is much appreciated. I do have to say going on a tangent on your post quote above, that it is incredible we are now talking about what % of attractions to same sex should or would be labeled as bi vs straight or gay. I don't find that ok. For me this super refined labeling invites more problem than it's worth long term. And in the end who cares really if penis goes into vag 20% or 30% or 60% of the time vs the alternative. It will only benefit that very straight conservative only. Not up to your neat standards is it?! It's ok. The queer young people of the world know who they are and what they want. And if they don't they'll figure themselves out.
  5. Just came to post this. I have a 12th grader who takes AP Pshyc this upcoming school year. They also want to apply to UF at Gainsville. I told them that as a queer 18 yr old this is not ok and there are other options, but they really like that university and the specific program they apply for. IL puts AP Pshyc on their transcripts. I wonder since that university is public if they'll consider it. I suppose they must, otherwise the kid will be one class credit short of graduating high-school according to the state of FL. I won't be heartbroken if they don't get accepted. I much prefer other universities.
  6. I typed a detailed comment to this and then I fucked up and lost it. short version: You’re correct. You are the only person in this entire thread who’s putting a very specific label on what the Guardian article is implying while beating expertly around the bush. Also, not that it matters but I also think you’ve also nailed the moving goalposts style of politics when it comes to controversial issues especially gender identity. I wish there was something I can add but it would be useless.
  7. I'll be honest I did not read the books (only the short story ones The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny) but watching the series I imagined that's the entire premise of it. For Ciri to build up to this incredible powerful Child of Chaos and become the central character. Everyone really gravitates around her since the first ep. She just happened to search for her adoptive parents along the way and we were fortunate enough to have them be fully rounded and complete characters. The fact they are incredibly fleshed out with childhood memories and sprawling backstories of their own doesn't really signify.
  8. Like @SpaceChampion I think Cavill himself got a close for his Geralt arc. It just felt like they wrote the callbacks to season 1 with that in mind. For 3 seasons he was told he cannot hold the neutrality he so loves, and Renfri and Stregobor which were a launching pad for his Season one introduction featured impactfully into this season's storyline and bookended Geralt's journey so far. As a result Cavill's Geralt decides "fuck neutrality" and goes for it into the sunset after Emhyr, because Ciri. I personally loved that.
  9. I'll assume you quoting my old post was an error Since I'm here I gotta put a good word in for the Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo as the latest fantasy book I've read. Lovely pace and interesting plot (as always since heists tend to be exciting for me) and that's considering I've seen the Netflix show first! I think it's awesome they haven't really waited to introduce the Ketterdam characters until 100 years or so later on the small screen. I positively enjoyed them on the TV series and the same happened with the book counterparts.
  10. Jussi thank you for the info! Lots of us in the English speaking world tend to be ignorant (not always by choice) of how literature is seen or appreciated in non-English speaking countries. It’s always good when you guys speak up so we can learn about it and enlarge our perceptions.
  11. Just read something about this on Twitter today and wonder what peeps here think about it! I mean someone was posting a link to Cavill’s message and woah I felt like it cannot be true! He’s the perfect Geralt! Twrrible News for fans of Witcher but I suppose excellent for fans of Superman (?) saw his insta message with the Superman suit. Dude is such a nerd lol he seems super pleased and excited about reprising his role in the DC universe. Fuck.
  12. Hahahaha YES! Matt Damon! Shuddup DMC, you know he’s in everything anyway.
  13. I read the entire back and forth, and I must say there is something truly insulting about this specific sentence. I can't put my finger on why, but kuddos to you. I rarely feel insulted on the interwebz. Must be just me and the baggage and connotation that comes with the term "sexual deviance" applied to a woman (in this case a woman character) who has sex with multiple partners and / or outside of marriage. I'm sure you didn't mean it though.
  14. You are not alone! Apparently Aemond himself learned that at about the same time too (according to the behind the scenes interview)
  15. Personally I think they are trying to balance the scales and give attenuated reasons for hating the Hightower party. Kinslaying, in universe is one of the ultimate sins besides turncloaking. More so to be honest as it’s punished by their Gods. To outright put Aemond with purpose to the killing of the young Velaryon would be painting it way too black when Rhaenys refused an ep earlier and Daemon and Rhaenyra did the same with Leanor (I’m going to say a distance relation as his mom is just cousins with Daemon and Vyseris) but still. Also everyone heard Luke maturely stick to his mother’s wishes as to not fight regardless of provocation. It would be extremely difficult to say Aemond is not a caricature villain if he did kill with purpose his nephew.
  16. To the 1st paragraph. While I wasn’t finding it likely while seeing the ep, in my comment if you read it all, I reasoned it out and agreed I suppose it made sense because Arrax is young and inexperienced so probably he reacted out of instinct to what he saw as a larger threat and didn’t listen to Luke. To the second: definitely stupid action by Aemond. He’s as much aware as any Targaryen who trains for dragons that Vaghar is connected to how he feels. It’s nothing new. If the purpose of the scene was to show Aemond taking revenge for an eye but somehow he figured Vaghar will not read his anger and glee at hunting down Luke… he’s action was stupid. I don’t think I said stupid enough! that being said Ewan totally nailed it with the surprised stupid look!
  17. It certainly looks that way. But one never truly knows until Elvis leaves the building. Bregman and Gurriel seem to be on a hot streak since the postseason started and doesn’t look like they’ll stop. that being said how about that Harper tho. He truly earned that MVP. 43 at bats for the postseason and his numbers are sky high. He was always good with the Nats but he just sold out just before they won it all! I root for him and thus with the Phillies come what may!
  18. I will be very straightforward and honest about this: I still think that if you feel you must voluntarily explain your reasoning in a set up as this Inside the Ep, before people even ask you about it, then you are either unsure of your work (that your message got across) or you think you didn’t do a good job to begin with. But that’s just me.
  19. Haha yes pull over and let him slash his eye out I suppose. btw That’s pretty much what I thought! Only not quite so hilariously put.
  20. That is the one of the few reason I only gave it a 9. The other was the fact that it seemed unlikely Arrax would have attacked Vhagar first, but I suppose it would make sense if we consider that Arrax is so young and inexperienced and Luke may not have a grasp on mastering him. What is sad is that Aemond seemed to not control his own dragon. And quite frankly his “not intending” to kill Luke when he has the largest, grumpiest and meanest beast in the skies but chasing him like he means it, makes the character look a bit stupid. Every Targaryen knows the dragons are attuned to how their riders feel. And he meant to take out Luke’s eye at least. What did he think Vaghar will do?! But it is what it is. I guess he can say: oops I did a boo boo?! Maybe?! Really liked the Rhaenys and Corlys scenes. Seems like such a wholesome relationship when you take a look at all the others we’ve seen so far and especially when you put it in the same ep against the volatile connection that seem to rule Daemon & Rahenyra. There’s some really violent streak that Daemon struggles to control and it comes out when Viserys or his desires, decisions etc are at the center of it. I cannot end without mentioning the wonderful job I thought Emma, Eve, Steve, the young actor who played Luke and Matt Damon did this ep.
  21. Just wanna say that I feel torn. It started with Yu walking Schwarber. I mean really, these dudes. It’s good to see them, but hard to see them. and while I’d love for Rizzo to win it all, I gotta say in general I’m not a fan of the Yankees.
  22. To the first- on why it will not be Damon but Mysaria herself that hires the B&C - apparently she survived the fire, somehow knows Larys was sent by Alicent to be assassinated and voila she gets revenge. It is not my theory, I’m just telling you why there’s already a small trend out there that says the Blacks will be absolved/whitewashed of this murder. To the second: I have no idea myself what that explanation could be, I’m just saying that at this point after all the reasons why Daemon is portrayed as a “saint” to use butterstrover’s term, if one truly wants to provide an explanation why that murder is not good enough they will go through a process resulting in an explanation that to them will make perfect sense. It doesn’t mean it’s one that would make sense for me.
  23. I thought about that myself. I’ve seen people already assuming that it will be Mysaria’s doing with no involvement from the Blacks. And I do wonder as other here did, if the writers will in fact adapt that bit as it is. There may be some limits to what HBO is willing to show. Though clearly foot fetish jerk off is not one of them! However you can bet there will be an explanation to why that murder is not good enough to prove that Rhaenyra’s party has dark tendencies and murderous streak when it suits them.
