  1. A plan to eliminate a dornish prince, involving a Kingsguard and using Tyrion, who hasn't been seen in Westeros for a long time and surely hasn't the means to organise something like this, and with men that can surely be traced faster to Cersei and the Iron Throne than to Tyrion. Even with the "Halfman" cry most people with enough logic and deduction skills will be able of smelling a rat.
  2. A plot to murder a prince of Dorne just to get Myrcella for herself, and putting the blame on Tyrion, who is very unlikely to have the ressources or motives to do so is very hardly a clever plan.
  3. And it doesn't look too strange for someone who was capable of trying to get rid of her family-in-law even through she needs them to stay in power based on pettiness and paranoia, of re-arming the Faith, slighting the Iron Bank, and naming someone Grand Admiral because he reminds her of her youth crush to be capable of setting up such a plot to kill Trystane just to have Myrcella only for herself and in her imagination to try to foil one of Tyrion's plot to destroy her.
  4. She might have arranged it well before being imprisoned by the Faith, when thinking to herself during a small council session about Ser Balon Swann having another mission but that some things are better left unsaid.
  5. Though I do think that he will have disavowed his Frey family, save for his full-blood siblings Perwyn and Roslyn and their possible children, as a result of the shame of being blood with those who barbarically betrayed and murdered Robb and his mother and bannermen and desecrated their bodies. He may even change his name to Olyvar Rosby.
  6. First find a competent and reliable master of coin who can be trusted and knows his field, listen to his advices and opinions on how to deal with the financial situation and cleanse Littlefinger's corruption. Let the refunds to the Iron Bank be, or renegociate a loan or the rythme of the refunds with them directly and politely to avoid slighting them. Propose alternative and far more reasonnable deals with the Faith to convince them to ease the debt toward them, without ever proposing anything that could allow them to re-arm themselves or allow fanatics and zealots to gain power.
  7. Driving cars, making sure that at least one got into the right tunnel, and making sure that at least one bread was baking well in the oven.
  8. I do think that Tyrion has at least suspected things for a while already, even unconsciously, but didn't try to intervene or confront his siblings out of love for Jaime and/or out of fear of straining his relation with the only sibling and one of the few people with whom he had a loving relation.
  9. We have talked and debatted endlessly about the incredibly crazy and stupid actions and decisions taken by Cersei and Joffrey, as queen regent and king respectively, which would have astonished even the worst Targaryen kings save perhaps for Aerys II at his maddest. But what about the other members of their family, the Lannister family ? What are the most crazy if not outright most stupid actions and decisions taken by other Lannisters such as Tywin, Tyrion, Jaime and others ? For Jaime I'd guess that acting so smug to and trying to bully and bribe a gang of sadistic and lawless madmen such as the Bloody Mummers with a condescending tone, and despite realizing that the Mummers are very dangerous and don't respect or fear him and his name, with one of them hitting him, take the cake. He was basically asking for Vargo Hoat to maim or kill him with this attitude. For Tyrion I would say that it is not even trying to go after Littlefinger, to actually investigate and try to get rid of him, despite knowing too well that Littlefinger framed him for the dagger and attempt on Bran Stark's life and being totally treacherous.
  10. Yeah Robert never wanted the throne nor was ever happy holding it, this statement by Stannis shows how much he misjudges and doesn't know his older brother that much, letting his bitterness over the legitimate or perceived grievances Robert inflicted on him cloud his judgement of his brother.
  11. Rickon as the official lord, with Jon being the regent and Sansa the one who actually do the political and administrative aspects of the rule for the time being.
  12. Well they certainely didn't forsake the vows that weren't worth staying true to.
  13. Per the title says, what is your opinion on the Kingsguard that protected and served Aerys II and Rhaegar Targaryen, before and during Robert's Rebellion, composed of Gerold Hightower, Arthur Dayne "the Sword of the Morning", Barristan Selmy, Lewyn Martell, Oswell Whent, Jonothor Darry and the others ? What do you think about their loyalty and obedience toward Aerys and Rhaegar, their attitude toward their knights and kingsguards' vows, toward Jaime before and after he killed Aerys, and their actions before and during the rebellion caused by their masters ? Do you see them as exemplary knights and kingsguards, or as self-righteous or blind hypocrites, or as something between the two ?
  14. What do you think are the enigmatic Quaithe's true nature and motives ? Why does she appears to Daenerys and talks in particular, and no one else ? What was she doing in Qarth, and why was she a représentative of this city, despite being from Asshai ? Was she waiting for Daenerys to come here as part of a prophecy ? Also what are her motives into making predictions to Dany, telling her to pass beneath the Shadow, likely meaning to go to Asshai, and warning her about potential traitors and enemies ? Is she truthful in a cryptic way, or is she manipulating Dany ? Does she have her own motives or is she a messenger for a god, religion or organisation of Asshai ?
  15. Edmure is definitively one of my favorite lords in the main series, flawed but very human and far from being as weak and stupid as the show and many fans make him to be. His treatment in the abomination is one of the many grievances I don't forgive D&D for, even more with them having an actor as great as Tobias Menzies to play Edmure at their disposal.
  16. With Euron the Ironborn will rise far above where Balon could have ever taken them, and they will crash even harder once the fall inevitably comes. Though it will be their fault for having chosen to follow these madmen and not opening their eyes and rising in rebellion before it was too late.
  17. Only for the northmen, to help them take back their lands more quickly, as the Ironborn will suffer even more because of Euron than they would have even with Balon's second stupid uprising being crushed.
  18. Yes, though at least Joffrey had Tyrion and Tywin to partially rein him in and mitigate the damage he did to his own party, while there was no one to rein in Balon's insanity and stupidity.
  19. Let's imagine that maester Aemon had accepted to take up the mantle of king following his father's death, and had became king Aemon I instead of his brother Aegon V, what kind of monarch do you think that he would have been ? What style of kingship and advisors would he most likely have taken ? What policies and reforms do you see him taking to better the realm and lives of his people, and toward his advisors and the lord paramounts ? Also would he have spared or arrested, executed or banished Bloodraven for his murder of Aenys Blackfyre ? Would he have been more or less merciful toward Bloodraven than Aegon V ?
  20. Mostly because outside of the New Gift issue, and of Jaehaerys indirectly causing Alaric's brother's death, though these were softened by his friendship with Alysanne, and until Rhaegar and Aerys' shenanigans, the Targaryens had not directly wronged the Starks and their people and had almost entirely left the Starks alone to rule the North without any interference.
  21. Well yes, he's a decent madman. Though that's not a particularly high bar within the Ironborn and the Greyjoy family.
  22. And his brothers would clearly prefer for her to do more "womanly" activities and totally against her inheriting Balon's throne.
  23. Catelyn being surprised by Edmure taking smallfolks into Riverrun, and thinking of it as naive and impractical shows GRRM's limited understanding of medieval times and strategies, or that he caricatures the nobles' abuse of the people beyond what really happened during these times. Castles and fortified towns were made exactly to host smallfolks and protect them from invaders, as they were essential for the cultivation, building, maintenance and other forms of labors that the lords and kings depended on, as their main source of wealth and power was their lands and as such they couldn't afford to lose their subjects and workforce, and most nobles couldn't afford to sadistically abuse their subjects because it would mean losing their workforce and main source of revenues.
  24. And is very hypocritical from someone who claims to pay the Iron Price and takes his own crown, when he's in truth living from his feudal taxes and lets his family and men do all the "taking" for him.
