  1. I would highly recommend Paolo Bacigalupi's thriller The Water Knife. It's debatably more ecopunk (I think that would be the term for it?) than cyberpunk, but it's still heavily focused on renegade characters who wind up going against the status quo (for both good and evil), in a high-tech but very dystopian and grimy society. The rich are living ludicrously large, where the poor can't even survive in their ruined environments and the American government is breaking down into militarized state versus state. One of the main POV characters is a private eye/assassin, and another is an undercover reporter, and the third is a teenage girl on the run after accidentally stealing a crucial data file, so I feel like those all align with the cyberpunk aesthetic as well.
  2. Hi, I am asking if I can exchange Doran Martell's Jacqui Davis fanart on the wiki page for another piece, as I don't think that art accurately reflects his appearance in the books. In terms of age, yes, Doran looks much older than he actually is, but I think the Davis art portrays him as a pretty pasty guy with light eyes and snowy white hair, which brings me more in mind of say Barristan Selmy rather than Doran. I would like to switch it with the Borja Pindado Fantasy Flight illustration of him and Arianne, which I think is a better depiction.
  3. Thank you, this is very helpful! I was able to make an images category page for Beth Cassel and Palla, who didn't have any art on the wiki before now.
  4. Hi. I am a new editor and I just uploaded an artwork of Beth Cassel to the wiki (with permission from the artist, Capraiaso). Does anyone know how to create a new 'Images Of' page for her character?
  5. Tywin thinking he could seriously get away with sending Gregor Clegane to raid in the Riverlands while Robert was still alive. Had Robert's accident been delayed just a little or had something in Cersei's haphazard assassination attempt gone wrong, Tywin would have been fucked for breaking the King's Peace.
  6. Jade City (the first book in the Greenbone Saga) is really cool urban fantasy set in a pastiche of 1970s Hong Kong; it has some great action scenes and plays off a lot of gangster film tropes. It centers around the Lan siblings who are struggling to keep control of the island nation of Kekon while contending with their own family dysfunction and rival gangs. The female characters are treated seriously and not just as love interests to be killed off and one of the lead POVs is gay without it being played as a joke or a tragedy.
  7. I recently read A Bloodsmoor Romance, and while it certainly doesn't try to be accurate historical fiction and is full of steampunk elements and ghosts, I do think it's a pretty spectacularly incisive take on antebellum/Victorian American culture, especially the commentary on class and gender. It reads like a dark and fucked up Little Women and I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys gothic literature.
