  1. So, I have reread chapter 22 ADWD. And I still must say it’s not rape. Yes she is a slave. However, Tyrion used her as was intended, invited her to chop off his head and return it to King’s Landing. At no point did my Lord of Castlery Rock force himself upon her. She did not ask him in Volanteneese for him to stop or say no in high Valyrian. Peaches I respect your word and your opinion but Tyrion paid for this girl. And did not take extra advantage, I stand by what I said, as it may upset you all. Tyrion is a man who finds his most favorite activity of whorring no longer palatable. If anything this Tyrion has grown and, as later chapters show, though he hates her, cares for Penny the dwarf who mocked him without knowing it. My friends our True Warden of the West is a martyr, he has died, without dying. He is traveling down Joseph Cambell’s hero’s journey. And this is his low, and still he takes credit for ruining the Myrish carpet. Cares for this girl who despised his grotesque visage. Rape is what the Mountain does to the tavern masters daughter. Rape is what happens to Reek and Jenye Pool. Do not confuse a sex slave/whore who has no taste for the patron. Is it fair that this girl is a sex slave, no. But does Tyrion abuse given her station, No. To classify this as rape is to say Job Snow killed the Half Hand not on his orders. To say that Robb Stark deserved to die at the Red Wedding. Does Victarion misuse the Dusky Lady, because she was gifted by Euron?
  2. I am not confusing the Illyrio slave. That’s why specified this the girl right before Ser Jorah nabs him. What I mean is that I didn’t get rape from it I understood it as she was bearing through his ugliness while he didn’t throughly enjoy his experience, a loss of past joys. A sign that he is not the whorring dwarf he used to be. Look I’m willing to reread and change my opinion on it. Not saying you guys are wrong, I just don’t see an evil little imp when I read ADWD. I see a man who has had all reason to live yanked from him and he’s changing his world outlook. I could have misinterpreted that scene for sure. And by suggest reread that scene I’m acknowledging you may be correct. Simple.
  3. I seem to remember her having a look of disgust cause he’s a malformed disfigured dwarf. I will take a look at this chapter again with the your thoughts in mind. This is right before Ser Jorah nabs him yes?
  4. @ Oringinal Poster This post feels about as trolly as all the anti-stark meme posts. So let’s take it line by line… Marillion deserved it. Lysa Arryn is a Littlefinger simp who killed her own husband lied to her sister about it, just to see Jaimie and Cersei burn. Then blamed it on The Imp. He likes the position he is in as Hand of The King. Yes he deals with the way his Father conducts war. Allar Deem posed a threat to all The Watch. Whom Tyrion is respectful and abit reverent of despite his unwillingness to take The Black later, he has love and admiration for Lord Snow, and The Old Bear obvi not gonna send Slynt and his Toadie to the Wall and mess with his BOIS! Bronn is the Devil Tyrion knows…I say no more. Cersei needed to be removed for a time to move the pieces around the board. Not a great loss and he could have actually poisoned her to death and didn’t. Alayaya, he had to pretend to care deeply about, even tho I believe he felt sorry for her. He had to pretend deeper as if Cersei had won. He played it perfectly. He loves Tommen nothing bad was ever gonna happen to him. Antler Men…he cares for his own head not coward Stannis supporters. Stannis loves to talk about “duty” but ran away the second John Arryn died where was his duty then. When his Brother? his Leige Lord? and King needed him? He was off getting sexual favors from the Red Woman in front of his cuck wife. (Sorry for the language there but it fits) Slapping Shae, I’ll need to reread a clash of kings/Storm of Swords to respond I don’t recall this happening at all. But…if she was being insolent to the man that drug her out of poverty and the long line of camp followers…know your place Shae! Supporting Joff…he likes his head where it is… The Singer, talk shit get hit. Our friend and brethren Michael Corleone would have acted the same way. And a bowl of brown feeds the people. WIN WIN. Sansa, Westeros isn’t modern day America. Sansa is a lady of the realm his wife ordained by the Seven. And if we remember ALL the characters were supposed to have been “aged” at this point in my mind the aging happened but in reverse. Characters started out older and just never were adjusted for continuity. Tysha, a sharp Lesson indeed…now that he knows it was orchestrated ALL the Lannister’s are in need of a sharp lesson…A Lannister always pays his DEBTS. You best believe that this is a debt they all earned…as many silver pieces as Tysha earned that fateful afternoon, deserves to be repaid with interest. Killing of Shae and Tywin they earned it in full. They both knew he was innocent and yet and yet, now Tyrion will show you another good trick that he knows. Here you speak of him wishing and dreaming of hurting Cersei, blah blah blah, she twisted his tiny baby penis for nothing more than being born. Everything else she did is icing on the cake…NEXT! Here you speak of services he bought and used not really sure how it’s rape…but you keep believing that whores want to service their Johns…also keep believing in Santa. The text explicitly says he doesn’t want to use any of Illyrios women. He just wants to drink and die. So get off this rape play. Jon Con has the Grey Plague and isn’t saying it to anyone. He risks everyone even the Blackfyre pretender he is crutching up. The sooner Tyrion sends them to their deaths the better. In closing Tyrion isn’t a white knight champion that Westeros wants. He is Political schemer, dubious knave that will sacrifice everyone and everything to get what’s right done…Rhaegar fought valiantly, Rhaegar fought nobly, and Rhaegar died.
  5. Not really a “badass” but I love Dolores Edd. His quips are just the best. “We’ll fight to the last man!” ”Oi, probably be me, eh”
  6. We have yet to have first hand account of the Siege of Dragonstone. I’m not convinced it had all occurred the way we’ve been told. In my mind the westerman led a weak assault and allowed a great knight to shoulder the brunt of the damage and only after Loras secured the victory do the Kingslanding forces push forward. Allowing Ser Loras to be bludgeoned and burned with boiling oil. ”Dying is not DEAD!” - Margaery Tyrell
  7. Squire Dalbridge, Half-hand sends him to die against the Wildlings. He just nods turns and leaves. Left me in awe. Really love all the Shadow Tower brothers. But Squire Dalbridge is the beat of em.
  8. I know the lady Melisandre says something about darkness surrounding Patchface. Is he a “priest” of the Great Other? Or is just scared of whatever he is?
  9. I have read through the books a few times. Yet, Patchface’s words never ring any bells for me. Quaithe and visions Dany sees in the House of undying all add up for me when I see them. But Patchface is lost in me if anyone could highlight and clue me in to his words I’d like it,
  10. Perfect example: Bael the Bard and the Blue Rose. Later the “Lord of Winterfell” slew his unbeknownst father. Be good to know if that bastard of winterfell came to an untimely or gruesome end, because of the curse of Kinslaying.
  11. I think Ned wouldn’t take the crown. He’d declare the North it’s own kingdom. He’d leave the South to those that follow the Faith of the Seven, Great Council maybe? Jaimie would abscond to essos with Cersei. Robert also may go to Essos. He mentioned being a sell sword in book one.
  12. I fully believe that Stonesnake could be alive. All of those Shadow Tower brothers are so bad ass. My personal favorite is Squire Dalbridge. I would like some Dunk and Egg-eque stories about Shadow Tower Rangers.
  13. I think it wasn’t a case of let’s entrap Robb. More “oh snap, our daughter just married a rebel lord calling himself king, if we don’t conspire, Lord Tywin will end us.” No power motive other than to not have her house extinguished. It’s like Tywin says the house that puts the needs of their children before the family is doomed to fail.
  14. Theon should have smelled it in the air, when he arrives at Pyke, and just went home.(winterfell). ReReads of Theon and Ned chapters I scream in my head “Just go home!”
  15. Ser Grandfather tells us Ashara had a stillborn daughter. Lonmouth is Lem Lemoncloak, IMO. Howland is chilling with his Lizard Lions picking off Iron Born and Boltons at Moat Cailin. Jonathor I don’t know never given him a thought.
  16. I had the same thought about Ser Grandfather, when he reminisces about the Tourney at Harrenhal. When he is thinking of Ashara he thinks something to the affect of what if he hadn’t been unhorsed by Rhaegar. The language struck me the last time I came across it that maybe he threw the joust. Or maybe Rhaegar was that damn good.
  17. I hate Dany, I also hate Cat. Both are vile and I skip their chapters. Dany cause she is annoying and vapid, “Jorah loves you! He is high born and a great fighter you need nobody else.” Cat is f…… awful. “It should have been you.” No Cat it should have been you. As ladystonheart she is about to hang Brienne “the only person, ONLY ONE, who stood by you.” She is an awful wench who despite the bad things that happened to the Starks, deserves all the woe it brought her. And she killed Jinglebell, I’m not not not a Frey loyalist but she killed an innocent lackwit, for what, Robb is dead, all her men are dead…WTF did Jinglebell do to deserve to die. Hurl that dagger at Lord Frey maybe you kill him. Cat belongs in the 4th level of the Red Keep dungeons. And the fact that Beric gives his undeath for her…bah! May she be roasted in the seven Hells, for all the bad she caused. Ned would be alive if she hadn’t taken the Imp. Rickon would be safe in Winterfell, if she hadn’t left to “warn” Ned. Theon would be whole if she had been there to council Robb, not to call the banners. Cat is the Catalyst, for everything. The mistreatment of Jon, so what if she thinks he is Ashara’s she was the most beautiful maid in the seven kingdoms. “You are just Brandon’s ‘’widow’ lucky that Ned picked you up. He could have just let Benjen have you.” And kept his Dornish maid with the purple eyes”. May she meet Rogre and Bitter in the seven hells.
  18. Lhazareen are sheep men, kept or raised by the Dothraki. Nothing more.
  19. I’m not certain that Targs are disease resistant. Valarr son of Breakspear dies during The Great Spring Sickness. Dany seems to have contracted the Bloody Flux. I’m sure there are more examples that aren’t racing to the front of my mind. Also I don’t understand why Dany survives Kahl Drogos funeral pyre, Aerion Targaryen dies when he drinks the wildfire. I would assume that wildfire is hotter, but I can’t argue with his logic if in fact “dragons” aren’t affected by heat and fire. Maybe Aerion is still out there somewhere flying through the air as a real dragon. Just his mortal coil has been turned to ash. (Little tongue in cheek here, but a little serious too. Not all facts add up)
  20. I know this thread is old, but Malazan Book of the Fallen, by Steven Erickson. It’s a clunkier read than what GRRM puts out and way more heavy handed with Magic. But it’s got gods and intrigue, combat, many races and storylines if you can get through the beginning it’s really entertaining. First book is Gardens of the Moon.
  21. Why did Varys make Tyrek disappear? Just to remove a Lannister from the line of succession? Does he already plan to kill Tywin and Kevan? Obviously The Bard here didn’t plant the seeds of that three books in advance…
  22. “Peaceful land. A quiet people.” Bolton (Roose) at least seems to treat most of his small folk well. Even treating Arya so well that she asks to be taken with him, rather than hang with the Bloody Mummers. I know he rapes Ramsays mother on a whim. But then treats her like a modern day divorced wife. I hate the man but he seems to keep his proclivities somewhat in check.
  23. Edric Storm intrigues me. Will he ever appear again? What is his role other than to make us respect Ser Davos more? I’d like to visit Lys at some point if only to see Edric again. Or if Ser Jorah needs to steal back his wife. Although that demon brand may cause him some trouble in Lys.
  24. I’m a fan of all things “North”. But for some reason I cannot side with the Blackwoods. I pick Bittersteel cause he is Bracken.
