  1. @Myshkin WE ARE COMING THE WEEKEND POST ALLSTAR GAME AND YOU'D BEST BE PREPARED TO EAT DODGER DOGS AND SEVENTH INNING STRETCH WITH US... Back to regularly scheduled beisbol talk.
  2. I took an afternoon off work a few weeks ago to see this with MC and it was quite excellent. I wondered how hard it was (probably not at all) to get the Firth, Scott, Stong, and Cumberbatch to sign on for roughly 2 minutes of screen time each. Well, Mark Strong got slightly more. But still. My one regret was watching some of the pre/post effects shots on Twitter because
  3. Embedded images in posts is turned off on the board. A Tweet is the best you can do or a link.
  4. https://gay.medium.com/adventures-in-publishing-outside-the-gates-a06f089c372e I learned of this author, book, and article on Twitter after following a few comments on and retweets of Steven King's We don't threaten authors in my America! (I've paraphrased). Ugh.

  7. Hi. Larry Walker made the HoF. Join me in my sobs of joy.
  8. Cynthia Erivo is nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of Harriet Tubman and Best Original Song (and could be the youngest EGOT holder ever should she win either). She won a Tony for her role in The Color Purple a few years ago. She was also in Widows.
  9. The RWA didn't lock in this domain and the test for potential board members is pretty great. As is the whole site really. https://www.romancewritersofamerica.com/ The real site is RWA.org

  11. https://www.pajiba.com/miscellaneous/a-timeline-and-explanation-of-the-romance-writers-of-america-controversy.php I've been waiting for this to hit the board, particularly for how it would be introduced for discussion. Anyways, it's a mess but also representative of what's going on in the world, not just in writing/book stuff.
  12. What % of authors are actually big ol’ a**holes? What % of the population are actually big ol’ a**holes? Kill your heroes.
  13. I'm not much of a reviewer. I just like what I like. My 5 star reads of 2019 (* audiobook): Circe by Madeline Miller * Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid *, I fully believe the cast is what made it so enjoyable though the story style was quite engaging The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo *, read by the author and full of impact The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden *, Winter of the Witch being my favourite of the three The King of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner*, book three of the series I also quite enjoyed Melmoth by Sarah Perry
  14. It is Lloyds of London. The very same Lloyds that insured Mary Hart's legs. https://www.psafinancial.com/2013/01/iconic-lloyds-of-london-insurance-policies/
  15. http://idiom-a-day.blogspot.com/2014/01/couldnt-hit-cows-arse-with-banjo.html?m=1 I learn so much here.
  16. The absolute tears on Twitter over Kirk Herbstreit calling this game. Can one be a homer for both teams (his alma mater vs the school his twin sons play for) at once? Oi.
  17. How awful for the LSU OC and his family. Wonder how much bigger this gap is going to get by the end of the game.
  18. We've been binging Ozark this week. Part way through S2. Julia Garner is very good and clearly deserved her Emmy.
  19. Yes, but there's this: https://bookriot.com/2019/12/18/2010s-in-ya/
