  1. Huh, I guess I'm the odd one out. I really enjoyed the episode and gave it a 9. Every season so far the exciting episode, the climax, is the premultiate episode, and then the final episode of the season is set up for next. They did it that way in season 1 and 2, so I'm puzzled why anyone thought it would different this season. As for the set up for season 4, I thought they did that very well moving the pieces into place, and I enjoyed it. Perhaps they could have found a more exciting note to end it on than Dany's Mhysa scene, but I guess I didn't find it as stupid and cheesy as others did. The one scene that made me cringe was the Jon/Ygritte scene. I like that Ygritte shot him since that was in the book but the dialogue between them wasn't that good. I wish Ygritte had shot at him while he was fleeing the way it happened in the book. Other than that, the rest worked for me. I am intrigued by the change in Theon's storyline with Yara going after Theon. My guess is Balon will be killed and Asha will be forced to return home after her rescue attempt for Theon is thwarted.
  2. I thought Pod had sex, but the whores refused to take the money as a thank you to Tyrion for getting Ros released after the queen imprisioned her, but maybe Pod did chicken out.
  3. I wonder if Ned voiced his displeasure over the deaths of the Elia's children? He was very vocal when it came to telling Robert that he should leave Daenerys alone, so I wouldn't be surprised if he expressed anger over the children's death too when it happened. If so the Martells might be aware of that Eddard would have spared Elia and the children had he taken King's Landing before the Lannisters, and thus don't hold him accountable for what happened.
  4. Lancel was clearly introduced in earlier episodes, so sharp eyed non-readers will know him, and there should be no problem further clarifying who he is in the second season.
  5. I actually didn't remember the comet appearing at the end of the first book because there was so much going on, the detail escaped my attention. I figured when I read the second book it came shortly after the dragons arrived and after the first book ended. Surely the moment was magical enough that not having the red comet appear matters that much? I think it might have been a bit cheesy actually as the dragons were more than sufficient, but I enjoyed how different characters in the second book interpreted the comet, so I kind of hope it'll be included in the second season. Personally, I figured when I read the book that it was a natural phenomenon and people subscribed to whatever superstition they wanted for it.
  6. My hunch is with Sean Bean and Momoa gone next season, they wanted to wait on casting Roose since his presence really isn't required for season 1 and that will free up some of their casting budget to land a great actor him.
  7. I agree; it's puzzling why that was changed. I'm sure Martin had a good reason though. I hope for the DVDs will get a whole bunch of commentary from him and the producers about everything. :) Perhaps they felt the need to shorten scene, and the mountain men aren't stupid. They can see Tywin and how rich and powerful Tywin is, so a chance to fight for him in exchange for all Tyrion promised them and more, doesn't seem too much of a stretch.
  8. I guess I'm one of the few people who really liked the ending. I thought it was ominous the way the camera went behind the Iron Throne and we saw Sansa between its spikes, which I thought was a neat way visually to foreshadow just how trapped she's going to be for some time to come.
  9. Welcome Evil.Bubbles! Would love to hear more about your thoughts in the unspoiler discussion thread. We don't get much more White Walker action this season, but if we get later seasons, I don't think you'll be disappointed. That's all I'm going to say on that for now. ;)
  10. Wait for the DVDs to come out. (I know, I know waiting sucks. :( I wish there were more options).
