They should be forced to watch some of the worst episodes of their own show on a endless loop. Yeah, I know, cruel and unusual punishment, but a just one. -

Only 7% voted for the Sand Snakes "plot"? For shame... -

Wow, I am frankly shocked to see Amanda Marcotte of all people against the tide of Internet outrage. -

So D&D are already over the limit by 50 or so. How many times did Tyrion alone avoid death in a very contrived way? -
Don't worry, D&D would find another excuse to show them repeatedly, that's their specialty after all.

David Selig replied to Ran's topic in E09: The Watchers on the Wall
I am not a fan of Stannis at all and still though it was filler. I don't care about Sam's love life, especially when it is written so badly as it was in this episode.- 1,784 replies

[Book Spoilers] EP409 Discussion
David Selig replied to Ran's topic in E09: The Watchers on the Wall
I was quite entertained, but mostly at how bad the tactics of the wildings was, the incredible crossbow and bow shooting and by a lot of the fight choreography. There were some genuinely good moments, but a lot of it was Tormund, Jon or the Thenn leader killing random redshirts with incredible ease. The Jon Snow - Thenn leader boss fight was just embarrassing. Jon Snow got his head smashed into a freaking anvil, but it didn't affect him any, not even a broken nose. I love TV Thorne (and not just because he hates Jon ;)), the guy is just so cool. John Bradley is a really good actor and does his best with poor material, but his scenes in the first 10 minutes were boring as hell. I couldn't care less about his or Jon's love life. I would've preferred to see Stannis battle against the Wildlings given a whole episode instead, it is the decisive one, not this skirmish here.- 1,784 replies

How would you rate episode 408?
David Selig replied to Ran's topic in E08: The Mountain and the Viper
You make it sound as if the average rating is 3.99, not 7.99. 7.99 out of 10 is a still a high rating. I watched True Detective's S1 last week and I am currently catching up with Mad Men's last season, both are on a completely different level than GoT in pretty much every aspect IMO. Especially dialogue. And not just these. When I compare the GoT episodes to the best episodes I've seen, they fall way short the vast majority of the time. Thus no 10s or 9s from me with few exceptions. And when I find that an episode has had 2-3 terrible scenes and only one really good scene, I give it 4 or 5.- 610 replies

No, if it was in the book, people would still be rolling their eyes at it for being trite, pointless and subtle as a sledgehammer.- 1,191 replies

She is way older than 12 in the TV series. Was that not obvious in this episode? ;)- 1,191 replies

How would you rate episode 408?
David Selig replied to Ran's topic in E08: The Mountain and the Viper
Terrible episode IMO. So much pointless filler and plain dumb moments. That beetles scene was the most boring 4 minutes of TV I've watched in years. Why is the show wasting so much time on really minor characters like Gilly and Grey Worm? Sansa's scenes were good, the rest were mostly a waste. 4/10.- 610 replies

So why didn't Jaime become Tyrion's champion? It doesn't matter how much he sucks as a fighter now, neither Tywin nor Cersei would allow him to be killed. They would be forced to choose someone even worse for their champion. It was a good scene between Jaime and Tyrion (NCW continues to be absolutely amazing in every single scene this season), but this bugged me.

What is so interesting about Cold Hands?
-
I still think the plot justifications for them to go to Craster's are weak, but this scene was pretty good, even Kit's acting was decent for a change. It was impressive visually too, the whole episode was really well shot IMO (except a few quite fake looking CGI shots of Meereen).
-
It should be wine from the skull, not beer, if you want to be really accurate. ;)

I liked this episode quite a bit. A lot of good stuff. Really well shot too, visually the most impressive episode in a while. NCW is an amazing Jaime. The Northern plotline is quite stupid though. I don't care that they made changes from the books (this was a snoozefest in the books, plus I don't mind well done changes anyway), the problem is that many of these changes are just stupid. The White Walkers stuff was nice though.

Wow, that Tywin lecture to Tommen was just embarrassing. he was speaking to him as if Tommen is 7 year old or just retarded. Terrible infodumping too, this show is subtle as a sledgehammer way too often. St. Tyrion strikes again. That scene with Pod...just give him the halo already. Sheesh...
