  1. I don't find her uninteresting exactly, but I feel like they have something planned for her that we just don't know about yet. Her whole mysterious backstory, and now she's taking handmaid lessons from Sansa - they definitely seem to be setting her up to be someone who is used to being on the other side of that situation. I really do think she is supposed to be some highborn lady from somewhere - and her scene with Sansa definitely added to that.
  2. I agree. And while I always stood behind the Natalie Dormer casting decision, I think this episode showed why it will be much more beneficial to have someone older who can fight against Cersei in later seasons.
  3. Now that is hilarious. GoT is known for unnecessary gratuitous sex, and this wasn't even sex, it was kissing. It was much more necessary to the story than any sex we've seen with Roz or even Theon to date. Get over your homophobia.
  4. Same here. The show has fleshed out his character more than the books did and just as he becomes a character worth getting behind, he's gonna die. I think his death will be more heartbreaking on the show than it was in the books.
  5. There were two very strong parts of this episode, the entire Renly section starting with Brienne dominating Loras and ending with them effectively showing why they aged up Margaery and that is to make her a plotting BAMF. And then Tyrion's three-fold scene with Pycelle, Varys and Littlefinger was executed so greatly.
  6. I think some fans just don't like the fact that the show makes book things obvious when they missed them in the book themselves. Which shows exactly why it is needed to explicitly show it.
  7. In ADwD Mel mentions that with Stannis gone she has no use of her bed. That is confirmation. ETA: For some reason the iPhone app won't let me quote things. So this post and the next were about the revelation that Stannis/Mel were sleeping together.
  8. I feel like people are making too big of a deal about the Stannis/Melisandre sex scene. Implied or shown, it changes nothing because it happens in both instances. Some people have said that it make Stannis look like a hypocrite - and well he was. Stannis had a mistress on the sides in the books in the form of Melisandre while he chastised Robert for being a manwhore and banned brothels on Dragonstone. And I actually thought the show did a great job showing that it wasn't Stannis just being horny. When Mel stripped down that didn't make him lust for her, it was after she mentioned being able to produce a son that he acted. We all know that Stannis is an honorable man, and that was not changed by showing him having sex with Melisandre as it wasn't shown as a complete act of lust. Also, babies have to be made somehow. And to just show Melisandre giving birth to a shadow baby without ever really explaining wth happened would not make for a clear plot.
  9. I thought that was a great bit too, although it suggests she knows be dies in flames which really doesn't make sense if she sees Stannis' victory. But Mel has always sucked at reading the flames.
  10. I've been waiting to comment on this episode since it aired last night, but since most of my thoughts have escaped me in the hours the forums were down I'll briefly say that I loved the episode. I know a lot of people had concerns particularly with the Dragonstone scenes last week because they felt that not enough was explained. I thought, and was happily proven right, that they would continue to build on the foundation they had built. A lot was explained about Davos, Melisandre and Stannis within a short time. And the actor who plays Davos is fantastic. He is doing a phenomenal job with the role. Now, I know a lot of people have problems with "all the changes" but I don't think anything was drastically changed that changes the plot. Rakharo was killed, but so what? How does that change the story? Bronn is the captain of the goldcloaks, again, does not change the story. Stannis had only stillborn sons but that doesn't mean he never had any daughters, so Shireen is probably lurking somewhere offscreen with Patchface. People really need to get over small changes like these. As long as the story is not changed and characters still maintain the same essence with which Martin created them, then the changes in this adaptation are acceptable.
  11. A solid nine. This episode was great, and it fabulously managed to build on the foundation that the first episode built. The Greyjoy scenes, the Arya/Gendry scenes, the Davos scenes all were executed excellently.
  12. A 7. It was good, but not great. The first half was slow, as to be expected from the first episode of the season. It definitely had it's high points though.
  13. Well that could create an even better situation to switch allegiances. Have their two force simultaneously defect to Aegon's side. That would also ensure that Margaery was safe.
  14. What intrigues me is that the Highgarden forces have left King's Landing to take back Storm's End. While they seem to be faithful to Kevan in the epilogue, who knows what has changed since Kevan has died and power has probably shifted back to Cersei. I actually hope they team up with Connington to take King's Landing. They probably wont if Margaery is captive in King's Landing with Cersei though.
  15. GRRM has also stated that the three heads of the dragon need not be a Targaryen. Which is further evidence, to me anyway, that Aegon is not a true Targaryen. My bet is still on Tyrion.
  16. Best of the season, IMO. 10/10. It had scenes that made me shiver (King in the North! and Jon's brother returning him), scenes that made me sad (Arya leaving King's Landing as Arry, Catelyn and Robb grieving), and scenes that made me scared (the Night's Watch going beyond the Wall). The dragons were so much better than I thought they would ever be. Disappointed in absolutely nothing!
  17. I gave it a 9. The final scene literally gave me chills and was as sad and shocking as it should have been. There were parts where I thought it dragged on a little, like Tyrion's scene with Shae and I wish we would have seen the Whispering Wood, but still very good.
  18. There was a story going around a few months back about how Maisie Williams corrected the producers that Arya was supposed to be left-handed. And more recently I remember reading something where she said "Sorry, but I tried to make Arya left-handed." For ease and for specific shots they make her use her right hand. But wasn't she using her left hand in her scene in The Pointy End with Syrio?
  19. A solid 8. It lacked the excitement from the previous episodes but, being GRRM's own episode, he brought many of these scenes to life. And I became very emotionally invested in many of the characters.
  20. That is what I am thinking now too. There is no other logical explanation to have her meet Tyrion previously and then go to King's Landing.
  21. A solid 9. Not as good as last week's IMO. But still very good.
  22. At least you have the balls to admit it. I think a lot of people were "bothered" by that scene for similar reasons but are trying to find other reasons to hate on it. IMO, it didn't force to me suspend belief at all. If Martin had chosen to give Loras or Renly a PoV, I think this would have been identical to one of their "praying" sessions.
  23. He was one of the people to greet Catelyn. But the Blackfish has not been cast and will not be in season 1.
