  1. Hibberd was totally wrong about Robert's Rebellion as a show. DID the other news sites "confirm" this? How? What does "confirmed" even mean in this context?
  2. This rumor will spiral out of control. We need confirmation.
  3. @Ran Your grace, I've been crunching the numbers for battles in the Dance of the Dragons, and they simply don't match up, particularly for the Battle by the Lakeshore: https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Battle_by_the_Lakeshore Green armies are consistently described as actually being about one fourth "regular" soldiers (knights/archers/men-at-arms) then "thrice as many" sellswords, free-riders, rabble, feudal levies, etc. This holds true for both Aegon II at Rook's Rest and for the Hightower host. The Lannister army, when it first enters the riverlands, is said to be "one thousand knights, and seven times as many archers and men-at-arms" - so again a core of regular soldiers, here numbering about 8,000. This raises 2 questions: Did the Lannister army ALSO have three times as many mercenaries & levies, like the other green armies did? So more like 32,000 in all? (this may also explain why the stormlands' total army was listed as a ridiculously small 6,000 - that only counts "regular" solders when the real number is closer to 24,000) ....is this only something the GREENS did, because they were the wealthier faction to begin with (controlling Oldtown and Lannisport), not to mention that they absconded with the old royal treasury? So while we may assume Green armies were four times bigger, this may not hold true for the Blacks Then specifically for the Battle by the Lakeshore, while the Lannisters must have taken some losses on campaign by that point in earliest battles....even assuming they only had 8,000 men as stated, the numbers are simply impossible: "By nightfall two thousand men were dead, amongst them many notables, including Lord Frey, Lord Lefford," etc Including TWO THIRDS of the Winter Wolves, numbering 2,000 at first. Two thirds of 2K is about 1,300 men! So by a strict reading of the text...the COMBINED losses of the riverlords and westerman was a mere 700? For the largest land battle of the war? And the Lannister army of 8,000 had been whittled down to somewhat less than 700 before that? The numbers here just don't add up. I SUSPECT it's just poorly phrased, that we should take it as "2,000 BLACKS died" while the ENTIRE Lannister host of 8,000 got wiped out (or perhaps 6 to 7 thousand, as they'd been taking losses). And that's not even getting into that the text sometimes forgets to mention "actually the Hightower army was three times that size because before we didn't mention all the sellswords and levies". This is very confusing, it may even necessitate a letter to the big guy.
  4. 1 - Due to how much the Stepstones will feature prominently in House of the Dragon Season 1 (according to casting reports which mention "Bloodstone guard" by name, spy photos, etc.) I have been making major updates to the "Stepstones" page. Everyone please check those out if they need refinement. https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Stepstones @Ran 2 - ....I don't know much about the story in the Blood of Dragons MUSH, but I know the Stepstones appear prominently in several storylines (there was that one not too far back detailing a specific overland military campaign on Bloodstone, etc.)....I don't now how "canon" any of that is, and I'm unfamiliar with it, so I didn't include any of it. I don't know if you want to add any of that stuff into the article in preparation for House of the Dragon in August. https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Stepstones
  5. I've been working on a list for the wiki: https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Translations#Prequel_books Does your publisher have a list?
  6. This article in Japanese is intriguing (use auto-translate): https://popposblog.com/grrm-prequel-title/ An article in Japanese, reacting to the possibility that a "Golden Empire of Yi Ti" show would introduce this fantasy world's analogue of Asia, and it points out it's mostly based on the World of Ice and Fire... ...and it states there is no Japanese-language translation of The World of Ice & Fire? What languages has The World of Ice & Fire officially been translated into?
  7. Need I remind everyone that a Nymeria show is also a "Valyria at its height" show? Battle of Volantis has THREE HUNDRED dragons in it.
  8. I hope we get a purple one. We've got EVERY color dragon except purple.
  9. There was actually a few thousand words GRRM wrote for Yi Ti that got cut from the World book due to length.
  10. But you know all the colors now? Even for Vermax, Arrax, Morghul, Shrykos?
  11. For that matter....info on Alicent's mother? And remaining few dragon colors?
  12. ....is it framed as an in-universe summary written by Yandel?
  13. Is "Blood & Fire" supposed to be the house motto of the Blackfyres?
  14. I think we can glean from this post that The Sea Snake has advanced from the "pitch" phase to the "pilot script was ordered" phase, and that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has similarly advanced to the pilot script phase as well. We already knew some months ago that Amanda Segel's 10,000 Ships had advanced from pitch phase to pilot script phase. Compare to the original War of the Five Pitches, when two of them never advanced beyond pitch phase. Also good that he's confirming these are in fact their formal names - or at least their working titles for now (along with The Golden Empire). We heard rumor of three animated projects including Yi Ti. But we'll see what happens.
  15. What evidence is there that GRRM named Robeson, the first High Septon, after this specific activist named Robeson? It's a generic name. https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php?title=Robeson&diff=275225&oldid=251476
  16. Ok she got back to me: she said she actually DID give permission to use her artwork...over Tumblr private message. (ack) I made sure to get PUBLIC confirmation via Twitter. (shrug) so I guess we don't need to remove all the other files...
  17. I've contacted her with a new link to this post, awaiting a response. Hopefully she can just give permission for the other 20 I didn't load up.
  18. Bit of an issue with image copyrights: I while ago I asked about using a piece of fanart I really like for Jeyne Arryn, but Ran said we couldn't without asking the permission of the artist first. So I finally got around to that, and she wrote back and gave me permission: https://twitter.com/asoiafattherite/status/1474403022218403847 So I loaded it up onto the wiki...only to find that someone else had already loaded up some of her artwork, including this one. Actually, back in November, Dwellordream loaded up 20 different pieces of artwork by Riotarttherite. https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Category:Images_by_Riotarttherite But when I contacted her this week, she didn't seem to have knowledge of ever being asked for permission before. On closer inspection, the 20 artworks already loaded up don't actually cite a specific statement of permission: they credit her with the artwork but just link back to her Tumblr in general. DID she give permission for all these other artworks? I think she should be contacted about this. I'm not good with legal copyright stuff.
