Uhhhh a quarantine with a covid-positive roommate sounds like no fun. Did anybody else in the same household get infected? What do you do for work now? And congratulations on dating! I have had an extremely busy week, hopefully the next few weeks are slightly less stressful, but we will see - there is still a lot to do. And hybrid teaching sucks so bad. Now I am on here to start the annual holiday thread!

This is crazy talk. It looks like 5 weeks to me. Yes, I am definitely including the current one, because it is one of the busiest in my year. I have only just turned off my work laptop 10 minutes ago, and it is past 10 PM here. Yesterday was about the same. I expect the situation won't calm down until the weekend. Sometimes things just pile up all at the same time. On the bright side, a friend called me earlier and we had a short talk on the phone. We haven't seen each other in ages and it was a really lovely surprise to hear from her. Stability is good. I see it in my work too. I don't see myself staying in education on this level my whole life, but I think it would make sense to stay here for at least a few years. Hello FOMN! Welcome backm Tell us about how you are doing.

I see. This makes a lot more sense, I suppose. Ehhhh ... still a long way to go till there. There are a few classes that write their tests/essays the week before Christmas, so there will be stuff to grade then too. The German word Blätterteig is also basically leafy dough. And yup, they were good! How long have you been at this job? Is there a chance it is going to get better once you get used to it more?

I suppose. I just really dislike the k in general. Why would you sleep on the couch if you have the bed right there? I bought a bed exactly so I don't have to sleep on the couch. I don't have the AC, so that isn't going to be a problem. I do like to sleep with the window open when it is warm (not in November). Yup, I need some extra bedding, I need to figure out how to buy it and get it there (usually taking the public transport and all). Mine started at 8.00 and I used to think it was normal. Then I learned that some schools start way earlier than that. Yes, 7.00 is the absolute weird extreme.

Actually I only have a single bed, which is squeezed between the wall and the back of the couch (so I climb onto it from the feet end of the bed - tiny studio flat). In order to be able to sleep next to each other, we pulled out the couch and both slept on it. It is relatively comfortable, as far as couches go, so that wasn't an issue. But I only have one soft bed pillow and one usual blanket, plus one woollen blanket. He used the only good pillow, my head was on the less comfortable edge-of-the-couch pillow, and we used the same blanket ... he was too warm and I am just not used to go to sleep touching somebody (obviously didn't want to stop touching either!). He slept surprisingly well, next to somebody (me) moving and trying to find a more comfortable position all night long. Because as nice a workplace as this is, yeah, whoever was in charge when the work hours were discussed was crazy, I suppose. I mean, I got used to it now that I live close to work and come there in 15 minutes on foot. And I don't start that early every day. However, students generally start either at 7 or 7.50 every day, and some have a loooong bus or train ride to get here. I honestly don't know how some of them manage. They are tough little things. Only on a laptop, below the user's avatar.

Maybe it is to remind you of the upcoming holiday season. My students have started singing Christmas songs back in September. I am sleepy. I know I should go out for a walk and enjoy some fresh air, but I started teaching at 7 AM today ... tomorrow and on Friday I start at 7 too. And the parent talk hour tomorrow afternoon ... work is busy!

Ah well. Maybe there will be more time next year. I am well, busy with work and all, but actually in a good position in my life, apart from that pesky corona thing. How are you? You haven't been here for a long time, soooo ... welcome back! Congratulations, you achieved Council Member status! It appeared with the forum upgrade about two days ago. It looks weird.

Yup. Although I didn't manage to get much done today, I was tired ... the gentleman slept over for the first time, and as much fun as that was, I am just not used to sleep next to somebody else. Especially with my lacking equipment as far as blankets and pillows are concerned, which makes it even more of a challenge. That is great to hear. Does she live in the apartment you used to live in now? It is weird for me still. It is okay on a laptop, but much worse on my phone.

It was okay, I am actually the most glad I managed to at least work on my dissertation a bit and found some motivation again. I need to keep that up. Now it's regular work at school again. You are probably right. I haven't tried to post any packages in ages. I got a package delivered this week though, something I ordered online - apparently Book Depository finds its way to the Tiny Town too! Sounds fun. I hope you manage to get a new pie pot soon. Does that mean you are now on okay terms with your sister? For how many people do you buy Christmas presents?

I agree, especially if one has to add shipping costs to that. I agree with Felice that it is probably meant as the upper limit. Nah, I don't feel up to the task now. I would want to participate first. And I don't think many people would join, seeing how abandoned this forum has been ... looks like tradition has been lost. I am going to make my school kids do a classroom secret Santa thing though. I hope they will want to participate!
