Gurney Halleck replied to Ran's topic in E05: The Ghost of Harrenhal
For a more serious opinion, I say it was an admirable and worthy adaptation of the book. Firstly, I'm not a book purist. I have read all the novels a few times, and it's as Tolkien would say "Un-film-able" I love HBO. They have served me well on (above) average. The Wire, Sopranos, Larry David and his stupid crap... I love this new season. Embrace it. Live it...(as we clearly all are) Get on board with the amazing production, score, writing, cinematography, and ACTING. Please, be a friend on this. Yours truly, Fellow Westeros Member.- 686 replies

I spotted a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo in Qarth! @ 34:52! Pretty sure I saw the same sort of parrot in Rome. HBO loves Australian Fauna. As do I.- 686 replies

True, now that I think of it. Gillen does an excellent "Balamore" accent...surely highborn english should be easy for him.- 807 replies

I have a theory there...I think it's plausable to think that The Fingers would have a different accent/dialect to standard/high Westerosi - it's fairly secluded and remote. I can see Littlefinger throwing a bit of "posh" into his voice so that he better fits in with the lord's, nobles and the small council. When his temper is up, he could lose some control and slip a bit with his "voice" Then again, Gillen is Irish, could have been a stuff up (surely the director/producers would notice such an error?)- 807 replies

On par with the other episodes so far this season. Just. Yes, I'm all for juicy book moments and exposition of plot. This epi had lots of both, but I don't think it was portrayed as well as in previous shows. Yes, I agree the littlefinger brothel scene was a bit nutty, "play with her arse" - did anybody else realise how quick and done that line was, over before it began? it may look on paper but I think the actors were a bit "I know this is HBO but REALLY?" don't get me wrong, love arty sex but this was distracting from the lines LF gives. Ros, make more time for Sansa and the Hound. Will you kindly? Yeah, lack of direwolves is crap, but at least we have them looking awesome and real before they become huge and CG!
