How would you rate episode 701?

Eight. Jon very much emulating Tywin, "When your enemies defy you, you must serve them steel and fire. When they go to their knees, however, you must help them back to their feet. Elsewise no man will ever bend the knee to you."--ASOS

[Poll] How would you rate episode 509?

Worse piece of seamanship ever. Why didn't the convoy of Hardhome survivors make landfall south of the wall? Jon could've showed the Wildlings their new home "the Gift" as they marched toward Castle Black to muster in. Stannis is without honor. At least a Renegade wouldn't kill his children until the price of scalps went up. His sellsword army is no better, it seems. Caught with their kilts' waistbands at knee length. Arya--smart as paint. Somethings a bit fishy in this brothel. Somehow it works. Uncle Jamie--Bronn was coerced to abandon Lollys for this? Hope Jamie makes it worth the while. Mr. Greyscale touched Dany's hand. Tyrion saves Missandei. Harpys on toast, a brand of Sriracha. Score: Five (5)

The wife and I are in our 70's. We thoroughly enjoyed this and every season. We come to this site for comic relief and to read the wailing and nashing of teeth. We will continue watching until death do us part, in fact we'll probably learn how it ends more by watching than by reading. Go, D&D, go!

High marks. Especially for Tommen using "recuse" in a sentence.

I would paraphrase, Churchill: It was not the beginning of the end; but, it was the end of the beginning. Halfway through ASOS it wasn't meant to be a cliff-hanger, instead, more of a, 'Ok, here is where we are. Here is where the pieces go. Get Your score cards here! Stay tuned'. I'm in for season 4, but in the mean...10 months of HBOGO.

I must agree. In the Orient, being a number 10 is NOT a good thing.

The shortest hour in TV history.

I do not seek controversy nor am I saying posters do not have the right to express their opinions; however, some of the posts seem a tad whinny about D&D drawing outside of canonical lines. The entire season's film is in the "can"(read: completed) To complain that actor x is not doing a good job or not hitting their mark, is denying the fact that whatever action portrayed on screen is only as good as the writing and the director's approval; and, whatever scrutiny professionals apply to their product. We either like it or we don't, is all I'm saying. Besides, I don't hear GRRM complaining.

ad.ap.ta.tion: a. Something, such as a device or mechanism, that is changed or changes so as to become suitable to a new or special application or situation. Well done and deserves high marks.

It was like heading the ball from mid-field to score. Yoren rules!

Yara/Asha's look is what I expected of a strong female sea captain, nine years before the mast, commanding a tough crew and having killed men in close combat. It tends to mess up one's mascara and lipstick. bathing in salt water toughens your hide and frizzes your curls; and, beneath all that a body to arouse a long lost brother. It really doesn't say much for Theon, who would screw a snake if someone would hold it's head...or better yet, screw a pile of rocks if he thought a snake was hiding therein.

9 The difference between the two media is that video does not require you know how to read. (Except for the sub-titles when Dothraki is spoken.)

I've read up-thread that some were not too pleased with the "Ros" character. I've always wondered if she was really, (crackpot theory) Lynesse Hightower/Mormont. I'm sure someone more versed in the history will set my mind to rest. I realize the possibility she could be recognized; but, age can and often change one's looks.

8/10 I view the books and tv adaptation as two separate entities. I don't find fault with either. 10 hour long episodes require flexibility and I believe the writers and actors have hit all my entertainment buttons. I've viewed 2ep1 four times on hbogo just to pick-up on parts and pieces I missed during the first viewing...like Tyrion thanking LF with a "look" for his imprisonment ordeal in the Vale; or, Dolorous Edd's description of Craster's Keep, "...then we fell on hard times." The audio was almost a little too low to enjoy his one liner. Or Sansa's mouse-like responses after being smacked around by Ser Merwyn (carried over from season 1). High marks all around.
