  1. Show-Oberyn, is, without a doubt, the better character. More interesting and more fleshed-out. Also, while being likable doesn't make one a better or worse character, it really helped here, imo, just because everything is so grim all the time that it just gets a little exasperating. There's literally no one important out there who's genuinely likable as well as powerful and having Oberyn be that brought a breath of fresh air.
  2. Rating it like that doesn't make sense. Episodes should be rated by the quality of what was in, not be omissions.
  3. ^ IDK about that. There were still far, far too many cliffhangers. Very few characters had an entire arc.
  4. Dude, that part to me felt like a subtle piece of awesomeness by D&D. The way I interpreted it was that Jaime felt liberated from the clutches of Tywin due to Cersei telling him that now they have the upper hand. This gave him motivation to come free Tyrion. But yeah, I agree that the scene itself was kind of too quick.
  5. Perfect in every way- hands down the best ever!
  6. I think that this episode was a much bigger achievement than Blackwater ever was. Sure, the Night's Watch might not have been that developed before this. However, here, they get more development than all 4 seasons combined. We see how inexperienced and frightened they really are, and it is conveyed in such a believable and touching way. Allister Thorne Edd, Grenn, Pyp and Sam became a lot, lot more awesome as characters. The scene where the giant charges at the men of the night's watch while they chant their vow is, personally, the most moving scene for me. The very fact that they were able to create one of the most epic yet touching and heartbreaking with characters who were previously not so fleshed out before makes it a grand achievement in my eyes.
  7. Ending this episode with Stannis would have made it basically Blackwater at the Wall. Also, the moment will definitely be remembered. Just because it isn't an end scene doesn't mean it won't have an impact. Come next season, people will remember Stannis' heroics in the face of doom. Impact on Jon was personally what I wanted, and got :)
  8. Easy 10. I'm glad Stannis didn't show up- this episode should have, and did, focus solely on the Night's Watch. Stannis will get his big moment next episode. Be patient.
  9. Not only that, but the large consensus is that GoT is having its best season so far. The IMDB scores reflect that. So far, episodes 2,6 and 8 of this season have higher scores than any episode from the previous seasons except for Rains of Castamere, which has a stunning 9.9.
  10. Yeah, the beetles' story was amazing! I don't know why everyone is hating on it.
  11. Isn't there a part in the books where someone is talking to Dany about some Unsullied going to brothels to feel a woman's soft touch? I'm pretty sure there is- this is just a sub-plot that's been influenced by that. There's no butchery as you stated. By the way, D&D's Daenerys worship is a false belief- they have clearly shown her as being capable of making rash and questionable decisions. Have you not watched any episode after Breaker of Chains? Because, so far, we've had: Oathkeeper: Dany chaining up the masters, against Barristan's advice. Nazi-Targ banner ominously sprawling over Meereen. The Laws of Gods and Men: Her decisions being questioned even further, with her morality being questioned by the Joel Fry's awesome Hizdahr. Mockingbird: Jorah questioning Dany's decision-making, and Dany even conceding that she was wrong. The Mountain and the Viper itself: Daenerys rashly banishing Jorah. ^Seriously, I don't know how anyone could say that Dany is being depicted as a hero or whatever after all that has transpired up until now this season. One last, minor point- show Daario is not the greatest of characters, but no one, NO ONE (except Darkstar of the night) can be worse than the blue, shallow book Daario.
  12. I'm actually really curious about what problem do people have with Missandei and Grey Worm's scenes- is it that they feel that Grey Worm cannot have affection without lust? Surely, it can't be about it being filler, since we don't even know where this is going. I thought it was a wonderful and quiet moment, something the show does very rarely.
  13. See, there are probably many more people, including me, who are shocked by the amount of 6,7 and 8s it's getting on Westeros.org (many of us think that it deserves a 9 or 10). People are always going to have different opinions, bro- that statement of yours was kind of an extreme overreaction :)
  14. The IMDB board doesn't seem too fond of it too- though the average score it has received is 9.9, so the voting public seems to like it just fine.
  15. Seriously, I agree (except for the not best part). Most TV series can't even dream of having moments like this.
  16. Sansa's storyline is not simplified. IMO, it is improved upon. If that is the last we see of Sansa this season, then I'll still be immensely satisfied. I LOVED the Sansa we just saw.
  17. Ok, I just watched it, and I have no idea why people on this site are hating it. Everything about this episode, EVERYTHING, was pretty much spot on. The greatest episode the show has ever done, imo. There was not a single scene that I didn't think was top class. I loved how non-dramatic they made the duel- it felt very brutal and very, very real- probably my favourite moment from the show ever now. For people hating on Emilia Clarke, I think the way she acted was perfect for that scene- putting on a cold facade to make banishing Jorah easier.
  18. The strongest yet episode of the strongest yet season for me.
  19. The last 15 minutes of this episode, in my opinion, have only been rivalled by the last 15 of The Rains of Castamere and And Now His Watch Is Ended. Powerful, powerful stuff.
  20. I think D&D's dialogue has been really, really good this season. Rivalling GRRM and BC easily. Easy 10 for me. One of the best GoT episodes ever, imo.
  21. Why does "only Cat" matter? Your sister works better for the unsullied.
  22. That's not true at all, though. So far, Season 4, around the internet, has been more well-liked than any season that came before.
  23. Now that you mention the scenes, they seem quite solid to me. However, when I was watching it (which I haven't done for a long time), it was the one that had the least impact on me. A lot of people complain about the show, but I am extremely pumped up after every single episode. This was the only one that didn't have that kind of impact on me for some reason. It might have had to do with the fact that was the first and only episode I watched with other people, so some of the nude scenes were a little... awkward. I might go and rewatch it now :) By the way, what do you consider the best episodes of the series (top 5)?
  24. Oh yes, Bryan Cogman is undoubtedly more consistent. However, he also only has one to two episodes to write every season, so he can focus on those instead of having to be responsible for 7 episodes per season. This season, D&D have been incredibly consistent, and I'm pretty sure they will knock it out of the park with the last 4! By the way, I agree that GRRM is a little overrated on the board, if only due to him making the worst episode of the series (barring The Night Lands) when the material he was given was slightly weaker than what he usually gets (about on par with what D&D get in their first three episodes, but they seem to do a better job).
  25. I'd say D&D are the best GoT writers. They always deliver on the big moments, and, unlike GRRM or BC (both of whom are amazing, but BC>GRRM), have much more on their plate. They probably get less time, but produce amazing scenes. The Rains of Castamere, Baelor and And Now His Watch Is Ended are all undoubtedly some of the greatest episodes of TV ever, and among the 7 best GoT episodes- BC and GRRM both have two (they get less, but very juicy scenes). We're incredibly lucky to have these 4 amazing writers working on GoT- I can't wait to see how Dave Hill does next season!
