  1. You realize that most people that aren't book readers are probably cheering like crazy right now thinking Jaime got what he deserved. As did the majority of book readers before we got to see new Jaime. So cutting to that song is quite appropriate for the circumstances at hand. People who are Team Stark have been waiting for something to cheer about, Jaime losing his hand is one of the few cheers they are going to get for a while.
  2. Based on interviews I have seen with David and Dan, I don't think either one of them are big Stannis fans and that more than likely influences their portrayal of him on the show. That happens in adaptations, sadly. Especially as a Stannis fan.
  3. I don't know why so many reviews bashed the Theon scenes. He was such a huge part of last season, to have him disappear for two seasons and come back a completely fucked up mess would be a big let down for people that really enjoyed his storyline last season. Plus, we can't get into Theons head like we can Reeks in the book, so we don't get to understand what happened to him at the Deadfort. The scenes in the show will truly show viewers how horribly he was tortured and will feel that feeling book readers have about Reek. As for the scenes themselves, I was cringing the whole time...it was awesome. The fingernail scene. Omg. Another scene I loved was the Olenna lunch with Sansa scene. I got a little teared up when Sansa was finally letting out her feelings about Joff.
  4. What is going to happen with the Brienne/Jaime situation? I have no clue. But I don't feel like Jaime's story is over quite et, nor do I feel like Briennes is. The BWB on the other hand, I do not feel like they have any part to play. They have lost their purpose under Stoneheart. Individuals of the BWB haven't lost their purpose but the BWB as a whole has. Thoros and Gendry specifically have a part to play still, IMO. So, my crackpotish theory is that Jaimes golden hand will get turned real by Thoros, he will have a greater part in Cerseis down fall and the war against the Others. I think Brienne will have a part to play against the Others as well. We can't lose these great warriors with the threat of the Others coming.
  5. When is it ever stated Robb has made it to the Crag? We know he left to go to the Crag, that's it.
  6. Okay, for everyone complaining about Robb and Jeyne let's set a few things straight. Last episode Robb was heading to the Crag to broker a surrender, Catelyn releases Jaime after he killed Torrhen Karstark. Fast forward to this episode, we see Robb, Jeyne and a group of soldiers traveling somewhere, outriders are sent to bring Robb back to his camp because the Kingslayer is released, Robb goes to his camp, yells at Catelyn, bones Jeyne, realizes he is in love. My guess is that Robb has yet to go to the Crag and Tarlisa will still reveal herself as Jeyne Westerling before going to the Crag to broker a surrender/marriage.
  7. Clash of Kings, is basically like that. We wait while Dany sits around in Qarth, we follow Jon around North of the Wall wandering with Qhorin, we watch Kings Landing prepare for the Siege, we follow Arya around until she escapes, etc. We get a little action in the middle with Cat when Renly dies, but then she goes and sits around and mopes around at Riverrun. Then at the end we get the House of the Undying, Qhorins death, Weasel soup, the Battle of the Blackwater, etc. We know that next weeks episode is the Battle of the Blackwater, we know Dany will go to the HotU, we know Jon will kill Qhorin, the only thing we lose is Weasel soup (probably budget). I'm doing a reread of the series right now and am currently on COK, and the book is basically all a buildup to the end. The series is no different.
  8. What bothers me is that people are shocked that an adaptation of a book made changes from the source material. I don't care about people talking about it, but the people who are acting apalled or shocked over it is a bit much.
  9. So, if a message board can include complains, I can voice how stupid I think it is that people bitch about minor plot points in an adaptation. Get over it.
  10. I wish the people complaining about the changes would just realize that it is going to happen and watch the show for what it is. Which is a very well done adaptation of a great book series with a whole lot of storylines. Yes, they have changed minor details and how certain plots play out, they have to do it for a TV/Drama/HBO audience. But the major plot points are all still there. Name me an adaptation that 100% follows the source material and I will name you a liar.
  11. Why do people act like they know what Tywin was like behind closed doors. There is no Tywin POV. So, to sit here and say " this is totally not how he would act" is completely off base. All we know of Tywin is from other characters POV. The way he is treating Arya is how I imagined he would treat Cersei for years after I read her POV chapters. And on the topic of Cersei, I'm pretty sure she isn't batshit crazy in the books till after Joffs death. Still a cold bitch, but not nuts. And her weeping for Joff being nuts isn't really too out of character.
  12. Because the chick playing Doreah is hotter/a better actress. Plus, who knows what the girl playing Irri's schedule looked like. Maybe, she couldn't continue with the series like the guy playing Rakharo. And it's not like Irri, Jhiqui or Doreah are important characters. They are hand maids. You don't need three. One accomplishes everything three does. Plus, Doreah taught Dany her sexy styles with Drogo, why not her be the one to finger bang Dany later?
  13. I got a bit teary eyed in the first scene. The kid playing Bran did such as awesome job acting in that scene. Really, really, great job. The kids are amazing in general.
  14. Did anyone else notice a potential Lollys sighting in the riot scene? There was a bigger girl getting her shirt ripped off and I immediately said LOLLYS!
  15. I'm pretty sure that there was nothing that indicated no visions. All the scene was meant to do was to get Dany to the HOTU in an exciting way. Once she gets there Pyat Pree can tell her that if she wants her Dragons she can do what he says. Then she drinks shade of the evening, has visions and gets the Dragons back...then dracarys. Dead warlocks. Also, killing handmaids=not paying those actors next season which means money to pay other actors. No need to waste budget dollars on Irri, who plays no role in the book other than waiting on Dany, when you can use that on Edmure or Jojen or Meera or Ramsay.
  16. In the book, Jaqen says the quote pretty much exactly as they said it in the show. "The Red God must have his due..." We don't learn anything about the Many Faced God in ACOK, so why would we in the show?
  17. Because, the shadow baby is a pretty good WTF moment to end the episode with. It makes people who don't read the book wondering what it is going to do for a week. Leaves for good discussion. Then, you open up the next episode with a dramatic scene and clarity on the shadow baby that people have been talking/wondering about all week. Good choice, IMO.
  18. He was referring to the Red God because they were going to burn to death, thus Rhollor being involved. They were going to burn to death in the book, and when he talked to Arya in the books he referenced the Red God or Rhollor as well. We don't learn anything about the Many Faced God until Arya gets to Braavos.
  19. You complain about every episode it seems. Why watch the show if you are going to hold it to impossible standards?
  20. Just remember that this is an adaptation. The ultimate story is being told and told excellently. Yes, there are minor changes, there has to be. Budget, things making sense to non-book readers, not having too many characters to remember, etc are all things that the people making the show have to consider. David and Dan are huge fans of the books, I'm sure they would include everything if they could, but it probably just wouldn't work on t.v. In the end. Overall, my favorite episode so far.
  21. It's a cut storyline from this season, but you can't cut it completely. Arya's story next season requires the BwB, as does Gendry's.
  22. Well said. Agree 100%. Book readers should be happy that this story is being told on tv and on a channel that can truly do it justice. It's an adaptation, name me an adaptation that is 100% accurate to its source material and i will name you a liar. Not many books get portrayed with such great production quality, acting, budget, etc. Plus, the overall story that the books tell is being told, just in a more t.v./hbo friendly manner.
  23. Conan didn't come back because he got too if for his britches with other projects, even though he said himself that he was made to play the Mountain. Not the producers choice at all. So they hired a guy who played the White Walker in season one. He is talented with a sword and 7+ feet tall. Not the easiest person in the world to find.
  24. The girl with Robb is Jeyne, however they are depicting her, she is just putting on a show. Why would she tell the king that her family is warring with that she is a highborn lady? Perfect hostage situation. She speaks her mind to Robb, and sets up that she will be tending to Robb's wounds later in the series.
