  1. Yes to all of this. It’s puzzling imo. Even if it’s due to some misguided sense of loyalty to that creep, he’s dead, he won’t care! Could it be that she feels such deep shame for things she’s done herself? The latter is the only explanation that kind of makes some sense to me, but I’m sceptical that someone who’s probably done some pretty horrible things suddenly “sees the light” and feels shame.
  2. No, chatGPT doesn’t really have “knowledge”, not in the sense you mean. It’s not really intelligent in any way. Ok I take it back, you’re not smoking anything. Most potheads I know are not this clueless. Back on topic, started watching Shadow and Bone. Only 2 or 3 eps so far, so jury still out. Looks ok so far.
  3. Yeah, I find it very disheartening to think that none of these disgusting people are going to face any consequences at all for their truly appallingly gross and criminal behaviour. Paedo Prince Andrew was at Charles’s coronation, giving no fucks at all about anything.
  4. They’ve had 8 years to get rid of him - nip it in the bud style - and didn’t. Then they’ve had 3+ years to get rid of him, and didn’t. Why would they do it now?
  5. Speaking of abuse… https://www.thedailybeast.com/judge-loretta-preska-orders-release-of-sealed-docs-naming-jeffrey-epstein-associates
  6. He absolutely should. Not just b/c of his own corruption but also b/c of his wife’s pro-insurrection activities, not to mention the ties to Leonard Leo and all the dark money mixed up in all of this. But I doubt he will. I also doubt he’ll recuse himself from any insurrection-related cases, something else he should do and that, worse-case, Roberts should make him do. Roberts may not be as bad as Thomas and Alito, but he comes across as being so weak…
  7. ISpeaking of SCOTUS, anyone seen the newest ProPublica piece on the corruption of Clarence Thomas? And it gets better after the quoted bit…
  8. I take you probably think we’d all be better off if we could put the whole world through a Time Machine and go back to the 1800s, or even better, the 1700s.
  9. Last segment on All In with Chris Hayes last night: “I will be the first to confess, the first to confess, I have no idea what to do about Hamas or about what comes next. But the ‘Amalek method’ cannot be the solution. To be honest, I’m not particularly convinced the Israeli leadership has any idea what comes next. […] But whatever your views on the Israeli - Palestinian conflict, it is just plainly the case that our country is supporting a war whose animating moral logic looks to most of the world, and frankly to me, to be that every single last person in Gaza is guilty and deserves their lot. And that is the moral logic of Hamas. It is the moral logic that drove the atrocity of October 7. And an atrocity like October 7 does not, cannot, justify whatever comes after it, whatever the response. There is no terrorist attack, no matter how horrific - and truly October 7 was horrific - that can wash clean what we are seeing in Gaza and what we as Americans and our government are abetting. It must end. We must stop it.
  10. Shardlake really is a wonderful character, fully fleshed and, as you said, believable and likeable! I can't comment on the books historical accuracy, but it feels very believable to me. The secondary characters are great, too, as are the mysteries. I might reread the books in preparation for the tv show!
  11. I watched a 2009 remake of My Bloody Valentine. It was as bad as the original. I've never watched Top Gun...
  12. OMFG! I had no idea! I'm now super excited and anxious b/c sometimes the book to screen doesn't quite work... but love the cast and am hopeful. I loved the books! Yay yay yay! ETA: for now it's just the first book, right? it has to be a huge hit so they do the others too.
  13. John Oliver's last Last Week Tonight of the year is about fElon.
  14. I have no recollection of this interview. That doesn't mean it didn't happen, only that I'd like to see it. Perhaps @Ran can help us.
  15. Ugh I hate the clickbait headers. Chances of Benjen becoming the Night's King? Zero.
  16. The same can be said about the reaction of many to innocent civilians dying in droves in these 'necessary' wars, despite the fact that so many experts say many of these wars can't be won militarily.
