  1. I agree. I've tried my best to understand why it was necessary to make so many changes in order to adapt the series to TV but I keep coming back that the main reason is because D & D wanted to end the series after 7 seasons. HBO from my understanding would have given them 10 seasons ...maybe more. It is really heartbreaking as a book fan seeing Martin's books butchered like this. I will admit Books 4 & 5 had many characters with some names hard to keep straight ( think in Meereen) but I really enjoyed Tyrion's travels along the Royne with Young Griff/Griff, the dwarf girl Penny and them becoming slaves for a while. I liked Davos going to seek the help of Wyman Manderley, being imprisoned, and the Frey Pie. I miss Jaime's travels in the Riverlands and how he was tormented over Cersei's unfaithfulness to him. I miss Brienne and Pod's adventure to Crackclaw Point. I miss Adrianne, Quentyn, Victarion, and Euron. Sorry......I'll stop now. This probably belongs in Rant and Rave. Bottom Line.......The screen adaptation may be good but I still don't think it could ever compare to the grandeur of the world GRRM created and blessed us with. Thank God I prefer books over watching TV!!!
  2. Yes, that is who I meant. My eyes are starting to play tricks on me from all the reading...lol.
  3. I've heard some say they are in Skagos......but the description of that place doesn't sound very hospitable. Cannibal type people. Weren't they to head towards Last Hearth? Maybe Jon will find them in HardHome.
  4. I must admit that he does resemble the actor Clive Russell who played The Blackfish
  5. Well....the dragon has three heads, although the TV serIes really hasn't stressed this. Dany and Jon make mistakes and are still struggling to be effective leaders. I believe Tyrion is the 3rd head and really don't expect much of them until they are all together.......hopefully fighting the OTHERS.
  6. You're right. I had forgotten. I think he was reading about dragonbone on the way to the Wall in GOT.
  7. The character of Sam was changed somewhat. In the books he didn't want to be a maester because of the blood and cutting of bodies, etc. Now it seems he always wanted to be a maester.....I thought he wanted to be a WIZARD...lol. Anyway....no big deal as long as it gets him to Oldtown.
  8. Tyrion read books about dragons in Book 1. Not sure where he got them though.
  9. I'm obviously not forming the impression I am suppose to of Sansa according to the fans here. I really see no big difference in her other than she is older and naturally has matured. I am sure she is shocked by the condition of Theon and what Ramsay has done to him, regardless of her hatred of Theon for killing her brothers. The truth of the situation was strengthened by the conversation at the dinner table. I wonder who will be leaning on who for courage when the time demands it. Will Sansa or Theon be considered the hero......or will Brienne claim that honor?
  10. Honestly....I just don't see a change in Sansa yet other than the color of her hair. She's still the helpless victim unless she is doing a SUPERB job of faking it!
  11. Will Meeren get greyscale instead of the pale mare?
  12. This is the most logical conclusion. These are the central characters as far as I am concerned in both the books and the TV series. Time will tell.
  13. I got the impression that Tyrion will replace Ser Barristan. We've already had Varys telling Tyrion he would be a good advisor plus tonight Tyrion was telling Jorah that the queen may be more receptive to him than Jorah.
  14. Correct....and wasn't privy to the conversation between Littlefinger and Ned Stark. She didn't even know LF was to deliver the City Watch for Ned but then betrayed him for a better offer.
  15. Surprisingly. I found myself enjoying this episode and the changes from the book not bothering me so much. Maybe.....I am past the grief, denial, and anger stages and finally accepting the TV version. The only scene that really annoyed me was ithe High Septon scene in the brothel. Too many nude prostitutes and I felt the show should be concentrating more on what brought the sparrows to King's Landing. It wasn't mainly due to the corruption and hypocrisy of the faith's leaders but the crown's indifference to the suffering of it's people during these years of war. i felt that needed to be emphasized more than it has been.
  16. Tyrion will design a dragon saddle for Daenerys like he did for Bran and himself
  17. I am a disappointed fan for so many reasons that I don't know where to begin. What I loved best about this episode was the scenery in Dorne and Pod's inability to control his horse. The rest was just ordinary. I could care less that Daenerys executed that person because I hardly knew the character. I missed Sam's behind the scenes political maneuvering to get Jon elected Lord Commander. I'll think on it more but I know I have a biased view. I think they should have stuck with the book.
  18. Jaime's feelings started dramatically changing in the books after he learned from Tyrion that Cersei had been sleeping around. He dwelled on it from that day forward. ShowJaime doesn't know that yet. Maybe he'll find out soon about Lancel and that will be the turning point for him.
  19. Seriously.....Varys argument is STUPID and you would think Tyrion was smart enough not to fall for Varys' motive. Varys and Littlefinger do not care one iota about the realm, the small folks, or who they hurt while playing THE GAME OF THRONES. They are going to betray and switch loyalties whenever they see a chance for self aggrandizement. If Baristan Selmy or Jorah Mormont survive long enough to meet up again when Varys and Tyrion see Daenerys.....then I hope they spill the beans on what a jerk Varys is. He would make a good meal for Drogon!!!!
