  1. Has anyone ever wondered whether Melisandre told Stannis what he needed to hear to get him to do what she wanted him to do, and that everything she's led him to, she led him to on purpose? Maybe she saw exactly what was going to happen to Stannis and knew that it needed to happen because she also saw what happens next or as a result. And once she realized that her work was done, she went back to Castle Black because she knew she needed to be there for Jon. I don't remember where she is at this moment in the books, but I know she's not at Castle Black, so I've always wondered how Martin will get Jon out of this. I've always believed he'd be brought back somehow (because then what was the point, really), I just don't want Jon to be some Pet Cemetery version of himself like Lady Stoneheart...

Actually.....this thought has crossed my mind. It's all part of the grand plan. Glad you brought the theory up for consideration.

  2. I am so depressed. As a long time lover of the books and now the show.....I find myself not really caring about the outcome of the books or show if Jon Snow is really dead. I am serious. I was so convinced his was the Song of Ice and Fire and a big believer in R + L = J. If that interview by Kit is to the truth....then just let the Others conquer the whole lot of them. Even though I love Dany.....I know deep down that I was really counting on Jon to be TPTWP. The only bright spots for me was Brienne killing Stannis and Theon and Sansa making that leap. I am feeling so disillusioned. Need a new book series to read. Heck....there wasn't even a smoking wound nor calling for Ghost. Nothing to hope for,

  3. Honestly my biggest question about the Shireen burning is what happens when Jon and Davos find out. In the books Davos travels to Skagos to find Rickon, but now Davos will be at Castle Black with Jon Snow which could lead to 2 possibilities. Jon tells Davos (for whatever reason) that Bran and Rickon are alive and Davos tries to find Rickon or that Jon marches south against Stannis which leads to his stabbing instead of the pink letter.

I watched the after show clip available on YouTube and later also available on HBO Go or OnDemand. I don't think D & D lied. They sounded like it is definitely Stannis who is responsible for sacrificing Shireen. Seriously....this shouldn't be such a shock. He has been having Melisandre burn people since the character was introduced. He was never a good guy.

  4. I dont think Stannis has any balls. All he does is bend to Melisandre all the time. No wonder nobody considers him a true leader. Ramsay is gonna flay you.

I have always considered him weak....even in the books. He is now responsible for having Melisandre murder both his brother and daughter. He certainly is not like the Starks who believe the person dictating the execution should do it himself. He is a coward and a JERK!

  5. Fantastic episode!

I enjoyed the dialogue between Dany and Tyrion. Tyrion completely put into perspective what her going to Westeros would be like.

He really did an outstanding job advising her! Of course....he knew his life depended on his ability to use his wits and impress her.
  6. This was my favorite episode of the season. I cried when Maester Aemon started talking about "Egg" and at his funeral. Sam is one of my favorite characters and I am happy for him and Gilly. I will be really upset if something happens to them. I got scared we were gonna lose Bronn there for a few seconds. Maybe he'll marry a Sand Snake....lol. Loved the scene between Lady Olenna and the High Sparrow because both are portrayed by such great actors. I was rooting for Tyrion to get those chains off and make his presence known. It looks like Cersei is finally being thrown from her high horse. I was hoping Reek wouldn't go to Ramsay so I am disappointed about that. It appears Brienne and Pod will have to do the rescuing. Happy Stannis turned downed Melisandre's blood sacrifice but I suspect when their situation becomes desperate then she will be sacrificed by Shireen's mother, etc. The episode moved really fast and I can't believe we are getting deep into TWOW. I'm guessing the High Sparrow and the Faith Militant are going to take down both the Tyrells and the Lannisters. What is Jaime going to do? Can't help but wonder what his next step will be.

  7. You gotta admit, when you play the game of thrones, lying perfectly and being able to tell when others are lying is practically a superpower. Also hints at the end that Arya will be learning impersonation and disguise. Future Mistress of Whisperers, maybe?

Could be. Anything is possible on this show. I expect her to being using her skills on Meryn Trant pretty soon.

  8. The show confirms for me my theory that Sansa will reign as the ultimate ruler, maybe even elected. (personally i feel the endgame is a transition to democracy) I think the show runners use her suffering as a way of catering to the lowest common denominator. The show was starting to lose me at the end of last season and so far the show is leaving a lot wanting. The sand snakes are corny. Kings landing has the most text to pull from so it at least has direction and arya's journey is going along as expected.

Side note, I also think we are being set up for a shireen sacrifice to save jon

It seems we are getting closer and closer to The Others invading and maybe the show will take a major sci-if/fantasy type turn with more of a focus on the magic ruling properties of The Others, Dragons, Bran, The Children of the Forest, etc. There is a greater threat to humanity than all these political and power grabbing games. it really shows the corruptness and how in the quest for things and power we forget about the greater threat to the planet. My husband thinks The Others should win and wipe all their sorry asses off Planteos,

  9. But didnt she say the truth?

What are they training her for? To tell the truth always or to lie perfectly?

    Why suddenly the face gallery?

They were training her to be able to lie perfectly. Jaqen realized she was ready when she lied so perfectly to the dying girl. She is now ready to be a Faceless Man. She will give up her face and acquire one of those in the face gallery as a disguise like Jaqen does, At least this is how I interpreted the scene.
  10. I had no problems whatsoever with the contents of the letter that Sam recieved at the Wall. News from Essos should be a little distorted but even saying that at the end of last season Yunkai was mobilizing to march on Dany so saying that was under siege is not that far off from the truth. It just so happens that march on Meereen never materialized as Daario and Hizdar were able to broker some kind of peace. That being said who is sending that news to the wall and why are they doing it? That is the only issue I have.

I've thought about this too and it is probably one of Varys "little birds" since he has a spy network world wide. Maester Aaemon probably got it from the Citadel once they got word of it. After all, they already know about Daenerys in King's Landing even though they don't seem too concerned about it yet.
